STOCKHOLM

Stockholm Junior Film Festival

This film festival is designed specifically for young people between the ages of 6 and 16. The theme is focused on Nordic productions, but films from all over the world will be shown.

Price: Free for children, young adults, school classes, teachers and Stockholm Film Festival members. Other adults 50 kronor per show.

Turbonegro

Turbonegro will be performing this weekend at Tyrol as part of The Volcom Tour. Formed in 1989, the Norwegian rockers released their debut album “Hot Cars and Spent Contraceptives” in 1992. Joining them on tour are US bands Valient Thorr and Year Long Disaster.

The Blue Koala

A comedy sent in the 1970s about a group of women of different ages and backgrounds who attempt to save the koala from extinction. Billed as a “must for connoisseurs of English humour”.

Nordic Gardens Fair

Scandinavia’s leading garden fair is back with seminars and exhibitions.

Bengt Olson

A retrospective exhibition covering sixty years of creativity. Bengt Olson uses natural shapes and impressions to create abstract paintings in the Nordic tone. The exhibition focuses on color, dance, and rhythm.

Democrats Abroad- Panel Discussion




Democrats Abroad- Sweden and ABF Huset present a panel discussion -- "The 2008 U.S. Presidential Election. What's at Stake for Sweden: culture, politics, and foreign policy."

Jan Hallenberg, Professor at the Swedish National Defense College

Big City Lights

A modern, urban drama set in New York, the city where “the sky is the limit.” The play follows a day in the lives of two women, Rose and Lilian, and their search for what life in the city has to offer.

International Gem and Mineral Show

The Geological Society in Gothenburg presents the 18th international exhibition of different gems and minerals.

Big Comedy

Sweden’s best stand up comics together on the same stage at the same time. Only one microphone, one stand, and 10 minutes each with the audience. Big Comedy 2008 presents Adde Malmberg, Lennie Norman, Anna-Lena Brundin, Marika Carlsson and others.

The Perishers

The Perishers formed in Sweden in 1997 and debuted in 2002 with “From Nothing to One.” Their latest album is partly produced by Per Sunding (The Cardigans, the Ark) and has become more instrumental with songs such as “Victorious.”

Rana

This film by Petra Bauer uses a newspaper article from 2003 about a married man who was detained for having sex with his wife to investigate how different norms affect our decisions. The wife was 13 and from Malmö, and the husband 18, from Libanon. When she gave birth to their child he was taken into custody.

Sewing Fair 2008

La Bohème

The second to last of the Digital Operas will take place at Biograf Spegeln this weekend. You have the chance to experience La Boheme in High Definition transmitted live from the New York Metropolitan Opera. The satellite transmission begins one hour before the performance so the audience in Malmö can watch the New York audience arrive at the Met.

The Fire Brigade’s Spring Gala
