E.M.D and Molly Sandén win Eurovision heat

The third Melodifestivalen heat in Leksand in central Sweden on Saturday left the hot favourites dreaming of glory in the Globen final. Pop trio E.M.D and teen sensation Molly Sandén claimed the final places.

The suave and elegant Danny Saucedo, Erik Segerstedt and Mattias Andreasson claimed the first final place in Globen on March 14th with their complex dance routine to the musical pop number "Baby Goodbye".

The trio were overjoyed at their success.

"This has shown all those in the press that doubted us earlier in the week."

16-year-old Molly Sandén followed in the footsteps of Amy Diamond and Eurovision legend Carol Häggkvist, by qualifying for the final as a teenager.

Sandén's ballad "Så vill stjärnorna" (It's in the stars) was written by Eurovision veterans Ingela "Pling" Forsman and Bobby Ljungren and was performed by the starlet with aplomb.

"I am so shocked. This is the most fun I have had in all of my life."

"I just wanted to go out there and have fun. I have learned so much this week," Sandén told SVT presenter Petra Mede.

Mede confirmed that 691,238 votes had been registered during the evening meaning that 1,053,643 kronor ($123,958) was raised for the Radiohjälpen charity.

Rigo & The Topaz Sound feat.Red Fox with "I Got U" and "schlager" stalwarts BWO with "You're Not Alone" earned a second chance in Norrköping on March 7th.

BWO's Alexander Bard did not appear overly concerned by the results.

"Our records usually go quite well even if we don't do so well in the Melody festival."

The international jury's vote went to Sofia Berntsson with "Alla". The Greek-Swedish star will now be able to compete for the 11th final spot.

E.M.D. and Molly Sandén will join Måns Zelmerlöw, H.E.A.T., Emilia and Alcazar in the final in Globen.

Rigo & The Topaz Sound feat.Red Fox and BWO will join Amy Diamond, Lili & Susie, Caroline af Ugglas and Scotts in the second chance in Norrköping.

The fourth and final heat will take place in Malmö next Saturday and will feature 2005's Idol winner Agnes Carlsson, dance band Thorleifs and opera singer Malena Ernman.
