Sweden confirmed its second case of swine flu on Sunday.

The infected person is a man born in 1984 who recently returned from New York, health authorities said.

"He has been sick for three days but is holding up well," said a statement from the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control (Smittskyddsinstitutet (SMI)).

According to the incident the man, who lives in Stockholm, is being cared for by health authorities and is feeling well under the circumstances and is no longer contagious.

"It is someone who has been travelling in New York and come home with flu-like symptoms. After tests we found that he had the new influenza," confirmed Mia Brytting at SMI.

Sweden confirmed its first case of A(H1N1) influenza, as the swine flu virus is officially known, on Wednesday after a woman in her 50s, who had also just returned from the United States, tested positive for the disease.

SMI is unable to speculate as to how many cases of swine flu that Sweden can expect to confirm.

"We encourage all returning travellers from the USA and Mexico to seek care if they experience flu-like symptoms," Mia Brytting said.

On Sunday two cases were also confirmed in Norway bringing the total number of infected in Scandinavia to five.

I think I have swine flu. My head hurts, my eyes hurt, my back hurts, my nose won't stop running and I'm dying for a bacon buttíe.
17:50 May 11, 2009 by Miss Kitten
Indeed, and when you stop to think that only 31 people worldwide have actually died from the disease (that's 31 out of 6,000,000,000 or roughly 0.000000005% of the population) then it's even more ridiculous how anyone can be worried about this. At those odds you won't even know someone who knew someone who knew someone who died from Swine Flu. You're many hundreds of times more likely to be struck by lightening than to contract Swine Flu.
17:55 May 11, 2009 by eZee.se
@Princess, that does not mean you have swine flu... probably that you are just a fat and average American :D

just kidding my Yankee friends, just kidding.
17:58 May 11, 2009 by Miss Kitten
What makes you think she's American? The average American probably doesn't even know what a bacon buttie is.

It's a little premature to write Swine Flu off as a joke. It is very readily transferable between people & if it mutates into a more deadly form (perhaps by exchanging genetic material with Avian Flu) there wont be anyone laughing. The larger the number of infections, they greater the chance of mutations. Avian Flu has a mortality rate around 50%, but doesn't transmit from person to person. Why the scientists are treating Swine Flu so seriously is that something like a hybrid between the two viruses would be a global calamity. Unlikely? Yes, but possible all the same - and in the views of many virologists inevitable in the long run.

So... we're basically fighting the inevitable?

I feel so surprise to see so many people see swine flu as a joke. OK, then here is some truth.

1. In 1918, the Spanish Flu has killed 50 Milion people. However, at the begining, the death rate is also very low, like the current swine flu.

2. The WHO has given swine flu an alert of level 6, which is the highest level of disease. Do you think all the guys in WHO are that stupid to treat this 'normal disease' as that serious?

3. The people die from swine flu is far more than 31. Go some big website and check it.

"The ice dripped in the winter sun. It was the first day when the light had been intense enough to cause dripping in the sunlight. To hear it was an extraordinary wakeup call.
