Top German politicians have protested after it emerged that a prominent Swedish right-wing extremist with ties to German neo-Nazis is relocating to Berlin.

The move by Patrik Brinkmann, leader of the Continent Europe Foundation (Kontinent Europa Stiftelsen - KES), was announced on Thursday. The announcement led Christian Democrat Andreas Gram to lodge a protest with intelligence services in Berlin. Gram demanded an explanation as to why the regional parliament had not been informed.

“The aim of the Continent Europe Foundation leader Patrik Brinkmann is to move to Berlin by 2010 at the latest and create a Europe-wide Internationale of nationalists in cooperation with national organizations from all European people,” a statement from the organization said.

German intelligence agents view Brinkmann as a leading figure among right-wing extremists around the world. He founded the Continent Europe Foundation in 2004 in Sweden.

It now functions as a hub for extremists from around Europe, with two functionaries from Germany’s neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD) on its advisory board. It also has ties to the extremist German Peoples Union (DVU).

Based in the Swedish city of Jönköping, the foundation describes itself as seeking to establish a “greater European civilization” for a “new common identity.”

Because he was ill, Brinkmann’s press spokesperson spoke Thursday on his behalf at a DVU party convention at the Brandenburg state parliament building. The two groups met to introduce their joint proposal: “For a Democratic Brandenburg and a Europe of Fatherlands.”

The DVU, which has seats in the state legislature, aims to make the “Brandenburg parliament the first German state parliament to recognize Brinkmann’s manifesto for its future European policy,” the statement said.

In July 2008, German media reported that Brinkmann had bought a €3.3 million ($4.5 million) in the Berlin suburb Zehlendorf, saying authorities feared the city would become a for neo-Nazi activities throughout Europe.

At the time Brinkmann issued a statement saying he had "no plans of opening a training facility of any type," calling media coverage "cruelly provoked hysteria."

In February 2009, a group of neo-Nazis – reportedly part of a German-Swedish network – brutally attacked a group of trade unionists at a motorway rest stop after the two groups had been demonstrating on opposing sides in Dresden on the anniversary of the World War II allied bombing of the city.

Lead investigators issued arrest warrants for three Swedes involved in the attack.

Whoot. Let's hope it's because he's come to the conclusion that Sweden is a lost cause. :D

I hope you are right Kaethar!......but sadly I think there are quite a lot of these types within swedish society. Moreover, there is definately widespread closet right wingers with racist tendancies in Sweden. How many times have all of us come across the mention of svartskalle, nigger balls, javla utledning etc?

Bearing in mind Sweden has not had a serious economic downturn for a very long time (90,s not counting as was,nt serious) and largely people are complacent and smug that it will NEVER go bad here........when things do go downhill in sweden, there is almost a perfect receipe for a widespread right wing revival in the future. I hope it wont happen but........

The mentality in the uk as and example is totally different......much more friendly and accepting of different races.

Swedish people are very liberal in their thinking and they can afford to be in the socialist "heaven" they've created. It is 360 degree opposite of the Swedish people that all the world respect," The Vikings". When your major cities have Sub-Saharan African populations in the 100's of thousands, with 100's of thousands of Indians, and there are dozens of mosques with 100's of thousands of muslims wanting the Riksdag to recognize sharia law THEN LETS SEE HOW OPEN AND LIBERAL the native swedes are towards the refugee immigrants. When the beautiful swedish people become so diluted that white skin, blonde hair, and blue/green/hazel eyes are replaced with a race unrecognizable as Nordic. You should look to the Japanese on how to frame your immigration laws and citizenship laws. The Japanese believe 100 % in aiding others BUT THEY AID THEM IN THEIR COUNTRIES NOT IN JAPAN. They have no shame in telling the world that Japan is for Japanese. Multi-culturism is ethnic suicide.

RE: jimmyjames

Oh dear where to start? You do realise that if you turn 360° you're back facing the same direction you started from? This seems appropriate though for a people that seems to have been remarkably "liberal" for their age, travelling and trading with most of Europe, marrying foreigners and brining foreign influences back to Scandinavia.

Also, the Swedish Riksdag has always recognised Sharia law as it would be very difficult to sell IKEA or Volvo in many Muslim countries if we refused to accept contracts agreed under Sharia law as valid in Sweden. The same applies to marriages (Swedes have a proud history of marrying foreigners), divorces, adoptions etc.

lastly, 100's of thousands of Muslims would still be a too small minority to get a single representative in parliament without support from other Swedish citizens. Might be that we need to improve our Constitution so that Parliament might represent all people, including those who have their day of rest on Fridays?

This situation of discrimination and racisms against immigrants is the fault of the government as well as the immigrants' own fault. It is the fault of the government in a sense that it has a very generous immigration policy when it comes to accepting refugees. The government can not just blindly allow people into the country when the ones that have already been in the country have not fully integrated themselves with the local culture, maybe the government should be a little stricter in their policies regarding refugees. I understand that they want to help those in need but just letting people into the country might not be the best way to go, it might help those who are able to enter, but not their society over all since there will be others that will not have the same opportunity.

It is also the immigrants fault because as an immigrant your role goal should be to become part of the culture that you are moving into. I am not saying that is their fault completely because there will always be people who do not accept them; however, if they are able to adapt themselves to the culture and try to integrate themselves as a member of the new society that has open the doors for them, it will be much easier for them to be accepted by the natives; this might not always be the case, since they will always be ignorant people who’s intelligent is not enough to allow them to understand and accept other cultures, but over all it will make it a whole lot easier.

I am not advocating for people to abandon their roots and try to become Swedes, why I am suggesting is that people can integrate to society and adopt new customs while at the same time maintaining their ethnic roots. Here in the US for example there are many groups of immigrants that complain that Americans discriminate against them and that

“White people” are against immigrants. But that is not the way things are, for the most part. Many immigrants that come to NY and make no effort to learn the language or to do any thing productive that might help them integrate to the society, instead they leave isolated in their neighborhoods in many cases joining gangs, behaving in disorderly manner and complaining about how much they hate “white people” for not liking them. Not all immigrants are like this, but those who do, set a bad reputation for the one that are willing to make an effort.

Don't you think it's an irony some right-wing nutter who is probably racist and against immigrants is going to be an immigrant himself? Thanks to the great beautiful European Union started by 6 countries approximately 60 years ago which decades later decide to include Sweden in the block.

hahaha Let's expect that German xenophobic right-wingers see him as a threat. LOL
