Two 20-year-old men have been sentenced to three years in prison for raping a 17-year-old boy at a party in Kumla in central Sweden.

The Örebro District Court also ordered the two men to pay 150,000 kronor ($19,500) in damages to the boy.

The incident took place in connection with a small party on the night of March 20th of this year.

The 17-year-old victim, who was drunk and passed out in a bed at the time of the attack, was handcuffed to the bed frame by a third man who then left the room, according to the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Later, the two men entered the room and proceeded to rape the boy with various foreign objects while he slept.

He awoke in a great deal of pain and with severe injuries to his rectum.

The court ruled that the men exhibited extreme disregard for the 17-year-old’s helpless condition when the sexually molested him. The severity of the attack warranted a conviction for aggravated rape, according to the court.

The man who initially fastened the boy to the bed with handcuffs was also sentenced to 75 hours of community service for aggravated assault.

75 hours community service for aggravated assualt.dear god almighty!!!!

I think the person who handcuffed the boy should have gotten more than community service!

It did look like these perpetrators were a bunch of self-hatred dysfunctional homophobes who wanted to punish the teenage boy. It's disgusting!

This is how Swedes shows affection. Nothing is safe in this land; not girls, boys, cows, sheeps, pigs.. anything is fair play with these animals.

Nasty!!!!!!!!!!!

But there is another, side to this story no one has brought up: Why was the boy drinking so much that he passed out? I would never blame the victim and certainly not an underaged child for such a heinous act, but drinking is a terrible vice and here's one example of how it was harmful to him. Where I come from it's illegal for people 17 to drink, and maybe this is why. He should be glad he's not a girl--if so he might not be just injured but pregnant, too.

Apart from that, perhaps the one with the handcuffs got off easy because he cooperated with the police? Just guessing.

Swedenlover, the drinking age in Sweden is, like where you come from, above 17 years of age, so it is definitely not the Swedish government's fault for the 17 year-old getting drunk.

wow everyday rape in Sweden. Sweden might become number in the world soon or later.

The same problem was in Nigeria in Christian cities. so what they did they allowed the Islamic law for rapist. the result was excellent the rate of rape fall down quickly..

Solution is if someone rape your sister, brother, mother simply follow Islamic law and if he is single and raped then prison for him for 20 years and if he married and commit rape then hang him on public. so rapper wouldn't get hot anymore LOL

In my opinion, rapists (particularly child rapists and date rapists) deserve absolutely no mercy. However, this is Sweden, and a prison sentence of 20 years or more is pretty rare, even for capital murder. Handcuffing and violently gang-raping a 17 year-old boy gets you community-service hours. However, operating a file-sharing website (which involved no rape, murder, or violence of any kind) gets you a year in prison and millions of kronor in fines. This country's priorities are severely out of whack.
01:56 May 28, 2009 by Gwrhyr
Not to defend rape, but the rapists got 3 years in prison, not community service. The accomplice who fastened the boy to the bed and then fled the room got community service. So it's completely incorrect to say that the file-sharers got prison time whilst the rapists got community service. That being said, I do agree that there are some messed up priorities here, the accomplice should go to prison as well, and 3 years is not enough time for rape.

Truth me my experience with Swedish court, judges and lawyers tells me that These guys who work in courts they don't know much about their field honestly. they decide whatever they think is right. you see the clear example for rapist and file sharing. and nobody can tell a Judge why you did that. because He/she is judge and law doesnt allow you to question the Judge in Sweden.

So the problem is not with law in Sweden but with these Lawyers and judges! you will find many contradictions in their decisions regarding one issue from different courts.

You're absolutely right. I should have read the story more carefully. I was referring to the accomplice who initially handcuffed the boy to the bed. He was sentenced to community service hours.

These sensationalist headlines are becoming tiring.

It's really sad how easy Sweden is on punishing rapists. They treat rape as if it isn't a crime, or a violation to another person's body and rights. It doesn't matter how drunk or naked anyone is, it doesn't entitle another person to have their way with them.

The guy who handcuffed the boy should have gotten more than just some hours of community service. Really disgusts me how they pamper rapists here. Makes me wonder if it's because those people in the courts and law are a bit twisted themselves.

A rapist and a tax offender are both classified as criminals in this country. The 2 rapists (and especially that sicko who did the handcuffing) probably get off with lesser punishments than a tax evader. There is something very wrong with this country.

May the records be shown whenever the rapists apply for a job. Let this abhorrent actions follow them forever!

Those boys should be grateful they are not in the states. They would gotten 15 to 20 years in prison for a crime like that.
