Unemployment falls in July
Official unemployment in Sweden fell to 406,000 people in July, or 8.1 percent of the workforce. The figures include those registered as unemployed and those in labour market programmes run by the Swedish state labour exchange, Arbetsförmedlingen.
In June, 8.3 percent of the workforce was unemployed. Last July, the figure was 366,000 or 7.3 percent.
30,000 job vacancies were advertised with Arbetsförmedlingen in July, 10,000 more than a year ago.
The number of long-term unemployed has risen by 5,000 to 71,000 in the past year. Some 50,000 people between 18 and 24 were registered unemployed in July, down 2,000 on the same month last year.
