When the driver of a train traveling through central Sweden saw what he thought might be a bloodied body lying across the tracks, he slammed on the emergency brakes. But it was too late.

Police and an ambulance were called shortly after 10.30pm on Wednesday night in response to the unscheduled stop, which took place as the train approached Karlstad, the Nya Wermlands-Tidningen newspaper reports.

Upon arriving on the scene, however, emergency crews were able to quell the train driver’s angst.

He had not run over a body after all.

“Someone had rigged up a doll made of polystyrene foam board and blue overalls,” emergency worker Jan Thor told the newspaper.

The makeshift doll had then been splattered with ketchup.

“An unbelievably distasteful joke on the train driver,” said Thor.

Värmland police spokesperson Per Ström told the TT news agency the matter had been classified as an act of sabotage.

that is a sick person who has done something like that. I really hope that he/she gets caught. It feels so unnecessary, and what is more, who would ever think this joke was any close to funny?

Perhaps it was another art project, like the carrot bombs in Örebro.

It seems every topic on this forum leads to racist remarks. I happen to know of many non immmigrants who are extreme bullies, and destructive. Just hang around certain Tennis clubs in the evenings, go to T-Centralen, check the school records on bullying and whos responsible, and you will see its not only immmigrants to blame. but untrained, undisciplined, disrespectful human beings with no boundaries, morals, scrupples or values. Remember there is only one race THE HUMAN RACE!

When a comment is posted regarding an immigrant, why is/are there (a) response(s) that cry "racist?"

An immigrant can come from anywhere:Norway, Germany, Finland, Belgium, Denmark, Nederland, Estonia, Latvia, Greece or Turkey, all Caucausian predominance, or the Balkans, or Russia, so how does "racist" fit in here?

France has all kinds of problems with immigrants, just ask Sorkozy, or the native French.

Russia, on the other hand, has none, and any that might arise are aptly dealt with--quickly.

Now that Denmark has wised-up, their immigrant problem is well on the road to being solved.

Many unemployed immigrants believe that they have a right and a duty to rape Swedish girls and women.

More likely unemployed marginalized Swedish youth bangers who watch too much (illegally downloaded) CSI.

Highly unlikely to be unemployed migrants. We aren't that stupid.

On the trolling scale we have lingonberrie scoring -4.

The comments regarding this article show that Sweden is a racist country.

The report does not say it was an innigrant who carried out this stupid prank.

Most intelligent people would conclude it was youths/teenagers who get their kicks from making a stupid pranklike this.

Sweden will always have an immigrant problem as long as the Swedes make stupid racist comments as seen in this instance.

Stop making racist comments ... it does not promote peaceful intergration.

What a strange idea. I have many immigrant friends (being an immigrant myself) many of whom are unemployed, and none of them thinks they have the right to rape anyone. You do realize that this website and discussion board is targeted toward the English speaking immigrant community here in Sweden, don't you? Aren't you an immigrant too?

By the way, you left quite a few countries in your list of countries where immigrants can from from.

Caucausians can be racisit towards each other too, racism can be discrimination based on clour, descent, national and ethnic origin. Meaning you may have been asuming the person was one of colour?

I personaly think it was a young person who was bored (maybe they just graduated) or someone who didn't get accepted into university and was looking for a way to get back at people and thought it would be funny. when you think about it, it actually is

"Young person"? Ageist! Could easily have been a bored pensioner blasted out of his or her mind on home-made brännvin.

On a serious note, well said Miss Kitten. This site's main demographic is indeed English-speaking immigrants (I'm justanotherexpat after all).......and as such it's sometimes very upsetting to encounter bigoted views based on one's non-Swedishness.

I thought The Local might be a bit of a nice safe-haven from bigotry - clearly wrong innit.......we get enough sh*t from people face to face....

In fact my wife and I stopped talking to our neighbours after they invited us to dinner and during the evening declared that they "f*cking hate immigrants, the f*cking freeloaders, taking our jobs"........etc............"But you two are okay - you look like us". Sheesh.
