No charges for cop's racist remarks

Does anyone know how he was turned in? if only a handful of cops heard it was it one of them? i thought cops would look out for one another. and can you blame the cop for the remark. he sees the same people everyday doing the same sh*t and it is always "blattajävlar" of course he has feelings to. no where else does sweden have this problem then like the slums of Rosengård and he has to risk his life all the time for what? i feel bad for the cops there if someone throws a rock at your head then they should shoot. you dont have to shoot to kill but to wound or use rubber bullets and those people should be thrown out of the country asap. no questions at all. if you throw rocks at govt. personal you go. by force if necc.

First i believe in freedom fo speech but with swedish laws i find it very funny that a kid in solna can be fined for saying PIG to a cop but its ok to for cops to use the pharse they used and nothing happens to them. i have been living in sweden for about 5 years now and i get my comic relief by reading stories like these. Racist words is said out of hatred and anyone found in such act should be treated in accordance with the Law, esply the Law makers and keepers. The Police have a great part to play in every society and if they can't execute their call with maximue act of fairness then we got a problem....

Check the past record of that cop and if he has been connected to such an act before then l think he is one of the wrong men in the forces...

I think it is unfortunate that different standards apply:

- 15 year old who calls the police 'pigs' is prosecuted, convicted and fined - despite apologising

- a motorist who calls police pig - is convicted of insults and swearing - fined 5000 kronor

It just amazes me how racist we are. I am extremely disappointed to be swedish. When we,swedes,travel abroad to the Eastern countries and when those people try to hustle us when shopping we frown upon them and believe they are 'morons' or uncultured people. On the otherhand when we taunt some of these people it makes some of us 'look good' and we say that we have laws favoring free speech and all kind of crap we can think of.

Playmaker, 100% agree. Police have to worry about being pelted with rocks or assaulted in these neighborhoods on a daily basis. They have to accompany firemen when they respond to a fire so the firemen are not assaulted. I would be a little frustrated if "refugees" were ruining my country too.

This is how I started my add. It is about a Swede, not an entire ethnic group. The same thing can apply to an American or an Arab, to a French and to a Moroccan, to an Italian and Albanian and so on... It can apply to all representatives of any tribe who thinks that he/she is better only because it happened so that he was born on the other side of a lake or mountain or a sea..., in his village so to speak.

I don't understand why Sweden lets so many poor Arab immigrants into their country. It's clear they don't like them. It's clear they have no jobs for them. And it's clear the immigrants don't like Sweden either. Weird.

As an immigrant to Sweden myself I have treated everyone with respect and been treated with respect in return. I actually like most Swedes and most Swedes like me. I earn a pretty good living as well and have an apartment in Stockholm. I guess its how I was raised in my country ( the USA ).

I would submit that most of the posts on this thread lean towards extremes. The goal of good government is to find middle ground and govern from the center. In a case like this, it probably means that the policeman in question will find himself (1) transferred and (2) stuck in a dead-end position with no chance of advancement. The kids in question, who were part of a riot- burning, looting, destroying their community- will also get off pretty easy.

People from different backgrounds will look at either end of the equation and say- "they should have taught (whoever) a lesson". The point is that over-reacting will polarise the situation. The strategy at hand is to try to keep things calm so that people can get used to each other, and incremental progress can be made. Integration occurs when Axel and Abdi play on sports teams together and start hanging out after school, or when Hina shows her art at a local venue and Agnes says "I'd like to feature your work in my gallery". Integration happens when your co-worker with a funny accent offers to share some funny looking food at lunchtime. You know? Probably takes a couple generations.

I suspect that when our ancestors set off in longships, and brought back all the blond babes, it took the women a while to adjust to their new lives too. Have to give it time.

If he was to make racist remarks about black people in front of his colleagues are you saying he should only be fined if there was a black person present and the comment was directed at them? Not as the case is in the UK for example where a white colleague may find it racist and complain about him?

The strange thing here is that no single one asked a question – why those riots happened?

There are two laws that govern this: "förolämpning" and "hets mot folkgrupp" The first deals with insults towards a specific person while the second one governs general public agitative racial expressions. Both laws are silly and a complete violation of the freedom of speech IMO. The policeman didn't break the second law because it was not a public statement. Of course there should be other implications since it is not acceptable for public empolyees to show such unprofessionalim, but this should be dealt with by the employer and not the court.

I hope we all agree here & we must admit we all have preconceptions yet we all must be professional in our ways, punishments must fit the crimes & we must remember that each case has it's own merit which while not justifying or condoning the same crime we must be careful not to generalise & approach such cases in an objective manner.

I keep getting responses ( some rather violent ) asking me what is wrong with minerets and mosques ? The same thing that is wrong with churches and Popes. In Europe and the rest of the Western world we have fought several wars and endured decades of strife attempting to get organized religion out of political affairs. The only Muslim country that has done a fairly decent job of this is Turkey. Iraq hasn't invaded Iran. Attacked yes, but none of these two countries were occupied by the other. Their war continued almost 10 years but the border was and is the still the same. This is a wrong example.

The same is with Kuwait. Iraq haven't kept that country occupied, haven't colonized it, and haven't massacred the people living there. The Iraq – Kuwait matter was and is more complicated. It can be cold invasion as well, because Kuwait was a part of Iraq and was given a mandate of a sovereign country by British Empire. They are the same people living there, speaking the same language. So when we speak about invasion we shall probably tell that British Empire invaded a part of Iraq, implemented a puppet state with only one purpose – to rob Arabs on their natural resources. Iraqis just wanted their property back, when they went to Kuwait.
