The US superstar is heading to Stockholm in July as part of her highly-anticipated The Formation World Tour, which she announced following her performance at the US SuperBowl 50 on Sunday.

Beyonce is set to perform at the new Friends Arena in Solna, north of Stockholm on Tuesday July 26th, as part of the European leg of her 40-date tour, which kicks off in the US in April.

She'll also be showing up in Copenhagen on Sunday July 24th as well as cities including London, Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels.

The announcement of the singer's tour follows the launch of her surprise new song 'Formation', which her PR-savvy team released just ahead of her widely-cheered performance at Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night. Dressed in a leotard and wearing plenty of leather, she wowed the crowds at the annual championship game of the NFL, one of the biggest events of the year in US sport, which this time saw the Broncos defeat the Panthers 24-10.

Tickets for her upcoming gig in Stockholm go on sale on Monday February 15th, while southern Swedes hoping to catch her in the Danish capital can join the expected rush a week later.

Beyonce is the latest in a string of big names flocking to the Swedish capital.

Madonna performed in November, while tickets for Justin Bieber's performance in September recently sold out in hours. The UK's Craig David, who is enjoying a global revival, heads to Stockholm later this month.

Beyonce's appearance will be part of her first solo tour since 2013, having performed alongside her husband Jay Z for her most recent string of large gigs in 2014.

Last September, she shared a stage with Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Löfven at a New York festival promoting global human rights.
