Besides, if the USA really wanted Iran's oil all they would have to do is step in and take it. Let Iran shake their sabres and talk tough rhetoric about holy wars against the west. If they were ever stupid enough to go to war with the USA, Iran would be totally destroyed.
Calling in Iran's ambassador is just another example of Sweden trying to act important on the world stage. It's not going to make a single bit of difference.
The US could step in and take Iran's oil and at the same time would suffer far reaching consequences that would make Iraq seem like a playground squabble. So, stop the BS. Thankfully, the US seems to have someone with intelligence and no cowboy hat, so that option is probably a no-go. That is why he is focusing policy on reducing their dependence on oil, so in the distant future, they can't be threatened by such acts of withdrawing oil etc.
Sweden have to be seen doing what any normal country would do. But, nothing will change until a new President is in place that was duly voted by the people and the religious idiots have their powers removed. So, don't hold your breath.
But Sweden was right to send a message to Iran's leadership.
And what should we do about crazies like you?
They should all be put on to an island somewhere sunny, duty free where children are banned and has a liberal attitude to the nicer drugs and sci-fi geeks.

Really? Sweden is to step in to the EU presidency in July.

And??
The current Iranian dictatorship portrays the west as the "great Satan" to a large degree, By stirring up anti-west fervor among the Iranian people is how they will hang on to power.. They won't tolerate the EU meddling in their political affairs any more than they do with the USA. Individual EU countries can summon as many Iranian ambassadors as they like, but it won't make a lot of difference. In fact it may even backfire and alienate the |ranian government even more to a hardline position.
No more Dancing Queen, no more Take a Chance on Me.
No more Super Trouper.
Let's see how long they hold up without any Super Trouper!
Iran ceasing exporting oil to the US would have little effect, other than to drive up the US oil prices. See, the US has Canada as a northern neighbour and Canada is a net exporter of petroleum products. Canada is just very quiet about it and the last time it went to war with the USA... get this... Canada won. The USA is not going to invade Canukland for oil.
Back on topic... any country that values civil liberties and the democratic process should have summoned in the Iranian representative to their country and done as Sweden did. Diplomatically, this was a solid action.
