Man charged with copyright violation for Web TV hockey links

A 31-year-old resident of Söderhamn in eastern Sweden has been charged with copyright infringement after publishing online streaming links to televised ice hockey matches on his personal homepage.

He is accused of posting links on a number of occasions in 2007 to hockey matches available online for Canal + subscribers.
The man admits that he published the links but doesn't think he has broken the law since he neither downloaded nor shared any files.
It is now up to the Hudiksvall district court to determine if the man is guilty of criminal activity.

Soon we will have debates upon if the internet is a free space or different organizations will start charge anyone who they think has broken their laws!
Same old PB problem here... sounds like canal+ was waiting for a verdict before proceeding.
Better be careful on here folks posting those links to free BBC online... I'm near certain those would be considered copyright infringement also.
Something for 'The local' ED's to think about.
Posting a link is not illegal as you are not the person hosting the content.
The person should challenge this right to the European court where he will win a lot of compensation.
We make the laws, we run you life and that is the way it is!
The sooner you stop crying and pay up the better it will be for us (and you so we can move on to the next putz!)
