Monthly fees on Pirate Bay's horizon

Users of the new Pirate Bay might have to pay a monthly downloading fee, under a business model being considered by the file sharing site's new owners, Global Gaming Factory (GGF).

The company also anticipates that internet service providers will become involved in the new model by contributing to the new cutting edge technology GGF intends to develop.
But users themselves are also a likely income source for the new company.
The model presently being considered entails persuading users to become paying members of the Pirate Bay by agreeing to a monthly downloading fee.
Internet rumours suggest that GGF has already decided to implement the proposed model, although Pia Gideon, advisor to Pandeya, remained noncommittal on the subject of monthly fees for Pirate Bay users.
“It’s a model being considered, but people are discussing different solutions. One part of the business model can be that users are members and pay if they want to. There are many who want to pay,” she told TT.
Also under consideration is the possibility of having user fees reduced for those who contribute to the site with downloading and broadband from their own computers.
“It’s a new world, in which people are trying to get the law and technical development to work in sync, and this business model also needs to be developed progressively,” said Gideon.
“What's important is to clearly show that it's being run in a legal manner.”

Perhaps he might gain some useful business experience while he's globe-trotting. If this is his proposed business model, he needs it more than most.
Unless GGF is going offer something better than free people will just go elsewhere. I am all for paying the artists who created the music, but I refuse to be hounded by the controlling millionair executives who are getting narked because they can't quite afford the luxury ox hide leather seats on their new yatchs thanks to illegal downloading.
The Pirate Bay really seem to have screwed over the little people they so proudly championed. Sad...very sad.

The reason people use Pirate Bay is because they don't want to pay and the selection. We will just move on to the next thing.

A petition?? Why not just live with the fact the companys change and want to make money after shelling out millions, and move on to the next on the will pop up in its place?!?!
Im sure Im opening myself up to a barrage off opinions on the morality of "wanting everything for nothing" and how its stealing etc etc, but if Im entirely honest, I couldnt care less if the artists get paid for it or not. I still go to the cinema and go to festivals and buy tshirts, I buy computer games that are exceptional and will continue to do so. What I wont do is pay for music which is easy to download, and i certainly wont be paying anything for software which is mediocre and full of bugs.
From when I first started using p2p, very few of my friends even knew how to do it, dial-up sucks for such things, but now every single one of my friends regularly asks me advice on how to get this and that and we all do it. I know its wrong in some eyes, but not mine.
I have used that for a long time now, in fact Ive used that for longer than any other site and not once have I downloaded a single file which has been infected.
