Scientologists reported for harassing Swedish family

A friend of mine in Oslo was almost lured into Scientology, she's recovering from being bed-ridden for years with M.E. and was tricked into paying thousands of kronor for books of their ridiculous pseudo-scientific hogwash.

After she tried to quit them she was bombarded with phone calls from across the globe - years later these calls are only just starting to abate.

"However since that initial contact the sect has called the family's phones on more than 70 occasions."

Doesn't sound like they are very busy at all. Just how many are there in this "large database of members"? 5? And they are all busy calling the same one family! They are so messed up in the head, not even good at lying, pathetic.

Creepy stuff... Free Masons are a much better choice. At least you get blindfolded, when 'dumped'...

70 calls is not accidental. The police need to take a very close look at this. This sounds like deliberate harrassment to me. I have seen the religeous harrass people, then lie through there teeth when caught. Once they start, they never stop.

I can not believe that people follow Ron Hubard or the special status given to satanic-christian-judeo-islamic belief sytems and other methods of controlling populations.

These groups should have no special tax exemptions and should be treated as exactly what they are, commercial organisations. They need to be audited and taxed out of existence and laws passed against indoctrination.

A letter even arrived from the church last Thursday apologizing for the calls, explained the circumstances, and conceded the case of mistaken identity.

But still the calls continued......

A similar thing happened to a friend of mine, in the U.S., about 6 months ago. They called to update his address, especially physical mailing address. (They wanted to send the DVD touting the new REVISED basic books, that Miscavige has edited out the typos etc.)

He had taken one course, over twenty years before, and at that time saw it as a money sucking mind control scam he wanted nothing to do with. He hadn't received any mail for them in decades.

Although he tried to be polite on the phone, he didn't want to get their junk mail again, since when he finished his course those years before, he had a great deal of difficulty getting them to stop calling. He'd hang up on them and they'd call right back.

He has a service that allows him to block numbers, which he'd never used before and finally he started doing that, after he'd gotten about a dozen calls in two weeks.

I made a typo. I'll issue my revised addition, for free! I meant to write that the first time he quit Scientology, after the one course, they wouldn't stop mailing him junk, even AFTER he requested that they stop mailing him stuff.

Finally, he go them to stop by going in and making a scene about it.

Anyway, this recent time when the calls began, he was creeped out by it all and just wanted them to stop calling, and never mail him anything again, but part of their persistence was probably that they didn't have his correct mailing address, and the garbage they were trying to mail, was getting sent back.

Scientology operates under more than 100 different front groups with names like: Narconon, WISE, Applied Scholastics and Crimanon. Avoid everything having to do with them, and report harassing calls to the police

So people who follow a crazy science-fiction writers made-up religion are given legitimacy by your government? If you have freedom of religion there, just shun them. If not, stop letting them operate. Does your country allow you to defend yourself? They are a dangerous cult. Protect your children form them BY ANY MEANS AT HAND. Should they approach you, doing violence to them is appropriate, as they are out to harm you.

Keep in mind that all religions started out as dangerous cults. Scientology is just another religion based on a book. It hasn't been around as long as Christianity and the Bible, but it's no more or less weird than the stories upon which the established religions are based.

Can someone explain why people are willing to accept that a man was transformed into a pillar of salt and a woman was created from a man's rib, but at the same time think that the idea that we contain the souls of aliens is crazy?

As for the family being harassed, I don't know why they put up with it for as long as they did. I would have changed my phone number after the 12th call.

IMHO anything which requires the individual pay to take tests in order to move up their foodchain is not a religion. IMHO it's a pyramid scheme pretending to be a religion.

"Miss Kitten" is obviously a member of Scientology's OSA (Office of Special Affairs), which is Scientology's intelligence service, which among other things, has people assigned to respond to critical articles about Scientology. Even when Scientology kills someone, as they did Lisa McPherson, it is NEVER their fault.

"Miss Kitten," being a brainwashed cult member who probably lives in a cult compound, does not realize that in the real world a change of phone number, not only costs quite a bit of money, it is also a chore to go through, having to change, business cards, and telling dozens of people about the change.

Scientology practices the "hard sell." They are trained to bully and intimidate. What other "religion" charges hundreds of thousands of dollars, just to learn their basic theology: (Xenu) If you are vulnerable enough to take one Scientology course, they feel like they own you.

In Scandinavia, and other foreign countries, Scientology has capitalized on the allure of American culture in general. People assume that because super wealthy actors like Cruise and Travolta are Scientologists, that it must mean Scientology works. It does work. It works at brainwashing people, especially vulnerable, uneducated people.

Cruise, Travota and the leader of Scientology David Miscavige, are all high school dropouts.

Yet, Scientology has a major program called Applied Scholastics that appears to be about how to learn effectively, to be a scholar. Forget about college. Scientology wants you to spend 100% of your time climbing their loon bridge to "total freedom," with their courses.

The cult is disintegrating now, and Scientology phone zombies, are held responsible for their statistics. They fail, when they can't get a person back into Scientology, or when they can't get your correct address to bombard you with propaganda.

Surely you aren't suggesting that Tom Cruise and John Travolva are merely vapid celebrities? And here I thought their opinions were worth more because they make more money than any of us...
