The Örebro district court has sentenced a 28-year-old man to six-and-a-half years in prison for raping four women.

The rapes were to have occurred after the women were rendered helpless due to alcohol intake and suspected drugging, reported Nerikes Allehanda newspaper.

Tramadol, a pharmaceutical similar to morphine, was found in the system of one of the women following the attack.

The man claims that the women consented to intercourse and denies all of the rapes except for one, which was filmed.

The district court found the women's testimonies to be credible and followed the prosecutor's sentence recommendation, which was presented on Monday.

Why did they even bother handing down sentence? 6 years for four rapes?
09:29 August 5, 2009 by George C
6 years ???? four rapes .... guess we should take pity on this guy ..... the sentence is far too long ..... BULLSHIT.

Just another example of the Swedish bullshit justice handed down by the courts...

What about the victims .... will they receive counciling... help etc ?

No wonder crime is increasing....
09:58 August 5, 2009 by hpunlimited
It should be 6 years per rape = 24 years. But in Sweden you get a rebate, rape 1 and get 3 for free! It is sickening!! I am all for a low prison sentance IF they deport him for life. That way he doesn't cost anything for the Swedish taxpayers!!
11:03 August 5, 2009 by ponderer
Deport him? Interesting how you immediately assume hpunlimited that the person in question is not a Swede. Am I missing something from the article that you don't?
11:45 August 5, 2009 by zooeden
Nice acertion ponderer

But c´mon 6 years??? 4 rapes, battery, morphine, pre planning, filming, etc, gives the man 6 years!!! Im sure That would help the bloke to recover and be ashamed!!!

Does he have OJs lawyer??? Who is procesing the case??? They should start appointing Wallander to the case!!!
12:01 August 5, 2009 by Nemesis
Both drugging and rapping his victims.

The sentence is crazy. He should have got a longe sentence.

I have noticed the easy going attitude to sexual assault and rape in Sweden. It needs to change.
12:23 August 5, 2009 by Random Guy
just think how long his time would be if he did file sharing!
12:54 August 5, 2009 by La Figaro
Hpunlimited Deport him? You are already assuming he is an immigrant, foreign or a naturalised swede, if not, where then can he be deported to??!!

However, you seem to be right about rape 1, get 3 free, this is just insane

What of the suffering and humiliation these women went through?

6 years per rape makes more sense, that way, rape (and probably crime rates in general) will reduce drastically.

Sweden, please increase your sentences for most crimes, sentencing serves as a punishment and deterrent for crimes. If the Swedish government is worried about cost and their upkeep in jail, simple, confiscate the persons's assets and add that to his upkeep fee and start manufacturing/production for prisoners, that way, the state won't go broke

6 yrs is way to low, but i do have some concerns. not enough info. did these women go to his place and get drunk and he was drunk maybe she passed out during the act? was there any violence in the rapes? many different circumstances. but rape is very serious if my wife was raped and the man only got 6 yrs. sh*t you have to take justice in your own hands nuter him or make him a cripple.
12:57 August 5, 2009 by La Figaro
In the UK, I met a guy who just wanted to return to jail, reason: It was more comfortable and easy going than the outside. In jail, he was sure of a proper meal, conjugal rights from his visiting wife, PS3 and latest satellite channels, drugs, free education, etc, all without lifting a finger and just for a crime he committed. While we on the outside have to work, save and pay for each of them services
13:15 August 5, 2009 by RoyceD
Exactly La Figaro,

You should not be rewarded for committing crimes by having things given to you that law biding citizens are denied.

In my opinion that guy should be raped for 6 years. See how that sentences feels.
14:35 August 5, 2009 by Paddy
Who does the raping? Civil servants, or other criminals, forced to do it?
14:46 August 5, 2009 by eZee.se
That works out to 18months per rape...

IMHO: insulting to the victims.

Wouldn't be too surprised if this moron gets out earlier because of "good behavior" or something.

As already mentioned, good thing he was not filesharing... then the sh!t would really hit the fan, we would be talking civil cases till he died, bankrupting him, how the terrorists win,how this brings down society and probably how an angel lost her wings....
16:24 August 5, 2009 by Texrusso
Firstly, I am against RAPE and women bashing. However, none of you were in court room to withness the evidence provided or were you?. If you don't have strong evidence, it is a risk to give a longer sentence, because you might risk giving unfair judgement to the accused. The media can always propagate their own story to make it look nice. I employ you to always try and see both side of the coin. The judicial system must not be based on assumptions but FACTS and EVIDENCE because you are dealing with real lives and people. So, please keep and open mind. I consodolence to any victims!
16:38 August 5, 2009 by mkvgtired
Texrusso, it says he denied the three other rapes except the one that was FILMED. This leads me to believe that he raped the other victims. Either way a filmed rape is pretty strong evidence.
17:35 August 5, 2009 by Uncle
mkvgtired - US was fighting in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. If the Iraq war started due to a proven intelligence mistake, would you assume that other US military involvement was also due to the same error?

Imagine a situation - "Don Juan" films one time that he has sex with an unconscious victim. 3 other girls that were REALLY insulted that he did not call them back, jumped on a revenge opportunity and declared that he raped them also. Is it not so impossible? He could not prove this in the court, but he managed to seed some doubts in the judge's minds and therefore he got a mild sentence. Besides, nowadays EVERY one time sexual engagement involves alcohol and it is so easy for a woman to declare that she was "too drunk". They should set alcohol limits and alcohol checkers on mens' penises - "Breath here. Above 0.8% the engine does not start".
17:35 August 5, 2009 by RoyceD
Texrusso, the guy is either guilty or he is not guilty, the length of the sentence should in no way be affected by an underlying uncertainty of guilt. If anyone is guilty of a crime there should be some consequence we as a society deem to be an appropriate method to seek justice.

This asks the further question, what is justice?

I am not sure what justice is in all cases, but to me the idea that a man can be convicted of something like rape, do time in a hotel with a bad stigma, and then be released back into society is in no way even close to justice.

Our judicial systems are a farce.
19:48 August 5, 2009 by Texrusso
RoyceD: As long as all the rape incidents did not happen at the same time and with the same victims and probably not even at the same place or location it is difficult to say its guilty or not guilty. I disagree completely that the law should be just black or white. While I sympathize with any victim of rape, the reality is still that in court processes it is important to take all circumstances and evidence into consideration while making important decissions that will affects the life of others and society for years to come. Sometimes I use to say that the Judicial system is a Mafia system, Judges and juries are human beigns and sometimes can take sides based on emotions and politics and it is sometimes difficult to be objective. However, like a game of Poker, the rules are the kings no matter how many Ace you have. Evidence rules.
22:07 August 5, 2009 by DStrope
Geez, you guys got laws like the states, you can rape someone or molest kids and only spend a brief time if any in jail. put them all away for 25 YEARS!!!!! first time offenders!!!!!!!
07:08 August 6, 2009 by here for the summer
sweden should be barred from the EU. The criminal justice in Sweden is now at the barbaric level. This coupled with the other article today about the 6 child rapes getting 5 years . Makes me think the judges must be child molesters themselves.
12:20 August 6, 2009 by me_i_sverige
4 rapes for 6 years... my god! what about 4 murders? may be 12 years. Good news for all the criminals around world. I hope weak and ludicrous Swedish law will attract many criminals in Sweden. Great news for criminal around the world and bad news for the victims and their relatives. I would better buy a gun and shot the criminal and go myself jail for few years rather than he be there for 2 or 3 years.
17:46 August 6, 2009 by Texrusso
me_i_Sverige: Why don't you just do that and see were you will end. You are screaming and shouting here like you were present during the court session. Even the media usually don't follow the cases unless its a michael jackson case. They wait for the verdict and gets the summary. Do u think its normal for a guy to rape four women? Anyone who has actually done that must be sick in the head and needs help and redemption. Do you really think many years in prison leads to correctional behaviour? What do you know about Law and court processes? There is a process for everything, if the prosecutors thinks the man did not get enough for sentence for his crime they can appeal against it and ask for more. If you want change, you wait for the next election and vote your politician who may propose new laws on your behalf. Have a good day!!
00:37 August 7, 2009 by Playmaker
it seems like he is guilty for at least one for sure. the sentence could be low also to the fact there was no violence and maybe the women were knocked out. meaning they dont have nightmeres every night and might not remember anything at all. just saying maybe. it is not like he forced his will on them in a park at night while punching her in the face and chocking her.

and for him being raped in jail as a sentence, i like the idea. put him in the same situation. the question i seen above was who will do it. well they do have machines out there that can do it. it does not need to be a person. i love eye for a eye. it is like the golden rule.

off topic did anyone notice that the IRAN hangings have been moved. if you search for iran you will see a story there from today. it was only up for a couple of hours. it still there but you have to search for it. whats up with that THE LOCAL

Crime is actually dropping in the US even though economic conditions have deteriorated. Glad I live here. Fu**ing 6 years for 4 rapes. LOL hahahahah. This mofo would have gotten 25 to life here. Been a boody buddy to a homosexual thug in prison and probably would have committed suicide. Thats messed up. You've got to have swift and certain punishment in society.
