A police vehicle ran over a 14-year-old boy in Karlskrona in southeastern Sweden on Wednesday night as the boy was fleeing the scene of a robbery.

The boy was treated in the hospital overnight for injuries including scrapes, burns and a dislocated shoulder.

Police received a report about the robbery of a kiosk on Idrottsvägen from a civilian colleague on the way home. Two patrol cars were dispatched and when they arrived on the scene, one of the cars ran over the 14-year-old.

He and his 15-year-old friend were trying to run from the police after the robbery when the accident occurred.

The incident is being investigated by Lars Karsten, commander at the Skåne police, who believes that the boy was running towards the police car when he was run over.

According to Blekinge Läns Tidning newspaper, the 14-year-old slipped and fell to the ground.

The boy was stuck under the car after the accident and the fire department was called. The police car had to be raised with air skates before the boy could be taken out and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Fire chief Kent Hoff, who was at the scene of the accident, said that the boy was laying right in front of the car’s front tyre.

“He had burned himself on the catalytic converter, one shoulder was dislocated and he was scraped up. But he was conscious,” Hoff told TT.

The policeman who ran over the boy was taken care of by the police in the other car at the scene.

“They said that he was in shock and was to receive crisis counseling. I didn’t speak with him, he was already gone when we arrived,” Hoff said.

The 15-year-old boy who was also involved in the robbery was driven home to his parents.

A forensics investigation will be conducted on the police car.

shock and was to receive crisis counseling????

HAHAHAHA...what a joke
12:16 August 6, 2009 by me_i_sverige
What a joke? Instead of arresting him for robbery, the boy was driven home to his parents!!! or, is it legal for a teenager to do robbery in Sweden? Where is the law? Where is the justice to the owner of the kiosk which was being robbed? Looks like the whole Swedish law system is joke. disgusting.

I think the police are getting tired of wasting their time arresting people and just having the courts let them go free...that might explain why the cop ran the kid over. I bet the cop tried hitting both, but only managed to get one.
13:35 August 6, 2009 by Faunaman
Nationality or origin of the teenagers please?
16:34 August 6, 2009 by Eurostan
swedish media and police are not giving names or nationality of the teenagers. they are afraid that country is going to burn down just like in france.

Faunaman If you've got nothing worthwhile to say, please save space and keep your comments in your head.

Give me your details/info and I'll tell you where your folks emigrated from.

I don't blame the policeman who is in shock, if you've not experienced injuring someone (or a certain event) before, it can be a be shock when it happens.

I see nothing wrong with the parents of the 15 year old taking him away, it doesn't mean he is free, he can still be sentenced accordingly.

The fact that the parents were able to turn up and pick him up shows some level of family stability and guidance.
23:21 August 6, 2009 by mkvgtired
Why was Faunaman's question not logical? The fact is non-Swedish born people are trashing your country financially and culturally. Don't get me wrong, MOST immigrants move to the West to better their own lives and their children's lives. There needs to be more restrictions on who can come and what social services they can receive before they contribute even one Kroner in taxes.

how do you waste space on the internet. come on. free speech means he does not keep his or her comment in there head. this is not a islamic state. you can say what you feel. just not draw cartoons. let the 15 year old go home. what. for real. they could of picked him up from jail. it could be a good scare tatic. can the owner not say who they are. boo hoo for the cop. guess he need another job if he can not handle that. the owner need to let people know whats up but i guess he can be charged for something.
13:54 August 7, 2009 by La Figaro
My sincere apologies for bashing Faunaman.

Immigration/emigration is as old as man, it can be harmful or beneficial; people just like to be myopic and bear grudge against recent immigrants or people of different ethnicities.

Playmaker, the scare tactic is a great idea but there are other issues to consider like local laws, political correctness/human rights since he's 15, night staffing at the police station (I lived in Karlskrona & some nearby towns are so small they don't have resident police) etc and in Sweden, a good guarantor seems to facilitate a lot of things.

Anyway, he is 15 which is the age of sexual consent, he really should have spent the night in the cell.
16:17 August 7, 2009 by Bender B Rodriquez
Because otherwise he will have sex, or what...?

Where is the logic in this?

Btw, he was 14 not 15 (read the headline)...
01:32 August 8, 2009 by La Figaro
The 14 year old was run over by the car while the 15 year old was driven home to his parents. It is often assumed that when you are 'officially' old enough to engage in sex, you are old enough to be responsible and answerable for your actions & deeds which is why I said he can be put in jail.

Hope I was able to clarify myself?
00:35 August 9, 2009 by DreEstwd
The Swedish press are a complete JOKE for hiding the nationality or origin of the 3rd world immigrants when they commit crimes like this. It's to the point that if those facts are not printed, it's safe to assume that the crime was committed by someone of African or, more likely, Middle Eastern origin.
11:13 August 13, 2009 by Jasoncarter
Dear racists:

It was a white, 'ethnic' Swedish kid called Kalle (or similar - the name has been changed by the paper as it is standard practice for the press not to name suspects of any crime, particularly not if they are underage):

http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article5637178.ab

Now take your opinions and stick them right up your racist arses.

"Kalle's" mother want to see the police be held acountable
12:59 August 13, 2009 by Jasoncarter
Well I think she does have a bit of a point - she makes no excuses for her son's behaviour but asks if the use of a police car as a weapon really is necessary. The police commissioner makes the usual noise about 'we didn't know if they were armed or not, what were they supposed to do?' - I would say that Volvo XC70 vs 14 year is a wee bit of overkill.
14:03 August 13, 2009 by Swedeofile
I would say it is more a matter of probability rather then racism. Most people are not racist, but that is not really the discussion. It should be what happens to people that commit crimes. No matter what age or race. And is the system too soft?
15:42 August 13, 2009 by Puffin
Sorry - I don't get your point - are you saying that Kalle is a racist?
18:07 February 27, 2010 by StockholmSam
About damn time the cops in this country got around to doing a bit of ass-kicking. Hopefully this little bugger's burgeoning life of crime is now nipped in the bud.
