"The ice dripped in the winter sun. It was the first day when the light had been intense enough to cause dripping in the sunlight. To hear it was an extraordinary wakeup call. The cycle was happening again as it always does, always will (or so we think). I imagined that on my summer island, the bees..." READ »

So they are nationalistic? Jävla tattare. "Föregångslandet Sverige"?! Du Reinfeldt, dra åt helvete, tack så mycket!
I don't care that they have more or less copied most of the social democrats "party plan" (or whatever it is called in English), I will call them the republican party of Sweden. Let's just wait for a Swedish version of fox news that twists the truth and repeatedly screams, "Sweden is the best country in the world and don't you have the nerve to say anything else!", brainwashes people and lies about just about everything. If that party, that wing, wins in the next election I'll move to Norway. Nationalistiska, soccar-wannabes, inkompetenta, handlingsförlamade idioter!
who died and pissed in your breakfast meal? what is wrong with a tax cut for the people in sweden? i think it's great to see more money on the peoples pay check! oooooh! why are there so many swedes on the local? do swedes really care what english mother tongue people think and do or do swedes like to train in the writing in english?
In case no one has figured it out, if someone's income is lowered, it doesn't become greater. Taxes are the government's income. Nobody really likes that, of course. But where does the money for social security, education, highways, defense, etc., etc. etc., come from. TAXES!
The "powers-that-be" here in the USA have their eyes on eliminating Social Security, and yes, continuing to lower taxes. They are the beneficiaries of that philosophy. Everyone else is being crushed by higher prices and lower incomes. How would you like to be one of the many Americans with no health care?
Less is not more, no matter how you look at it. Someone once said that a nation not willing to learn from the mistakes of the past is destined to repeat them.
The USA made that mistake, and now the lower economic classes in this country are paying for it.
Apparently Sweden didn't learn from the USA example.
So Sweden is sowing the wind? Well, future generations will reap the whirlwind.
Sweden isn't about to make the same mistakes as the United States, or to dance to the tune of others.
There is no nixon, no reagan, no bush, no cheney, no rush, or like/et al in Sweden, nor is there a Fox/like network.
Sweden will work through their economic problems and their taxes just as Sweden successfully worked through their own past economic crisis.
Sweden is not beholden to or hostage to AIPAC, or to other Wall Street/like entities. The European Council of Foreign Relations does not set Swedish policy.
There is no valid comparison to the United States.
I take it you don't speak Swedish then.. The background, behind Fredrik, says "FÖREGÅNGSLANDET SVERIGE", which means.. I don't think there is a direct translation btu basically "the leading country", the country that is ahead of everyone else, the one everyone else follows. Which is nationalistic. That is what I am writing about and it is stuff like that that comes out of e.g. the republicans in the US. The republicans is the most famous (infamous) foreign far right nationalistic party with its very own media in Sweden. That's why I was comparing the moderates to them since I bet you have a follow up statement about that part..
Secondly.. some, like me, wants to know what kind of people we're letting in from other western countries and from my experience here we get enough of them to legitimately blame them if the Sweden Democrats gets into power.
@ Beynch
You scare me a bit. That's town hall rantings and that sh1t should stay on the other side of the Atlantic.
@ lingonberrie
I never thought I'd read something like that from someone like you. I thought you hated us, really hated us.. That's least "I hate Swedes and Sweden" comment I've read from you.. I'm confused.
You either have a reading comprehension problem or you have me confused with someone else.
All of my comments are pro Swedish because I am Swedish.
Perhaps your confusion comes from sitting-out in the sun too long and drinking good Swedish vodka, or Irish whiskey.
Or, you are really aware of all of my positive Swedish comments and you are trying to get me to react.
Why you would do that is beyond me.
I must have misunderstood or.. something..
@ csense
SD stand for the sweden democrats, NOT the social democrats. Considering what Sweden is compared to other country I say they did a good job.. past decade excluded ofc.
Oh, and the right wing isn't doing anything impressive. The profit of drug companies will from now on go to Germany, the car service thingie's profit will go to Finland and the quality of those services will go down to increase profit. The rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer. Yeah, very well done.
We are in a deep recession here, in the USA partly because of people's fear of what the government will do to what's left of our money. There are states here that combined with local taxation are exceeding that of Sweden and we still have potholes!
The more that goes to running the government the less there is to buy products, i.e, Saabs and Volvos as a starter.
=D You're an American if I've ever seen one. Our taxes are lower but we pay less bills than you, we have about the same amount of money to by stuff.
You're in a recession because you have a freer market and greedy people who wanted big money fast got screwed. In one century we have had one economic crisis, you have had 3 enormous ones.
We consider "free" health care a moral obligation, we want high taxes. Some money goes back to us and more comes back if we lose our jobs.
Using 500 crowns of taxes to buy stuff can at most (with the exception of buying e.g. gas) brings back 125 crowns to the state. That's less taxes no matter how you put it and that would mean we would have to give up privileges (that we want to have).
"The more that goes to running the government the less there is to buy products, i.e, Saabs and Volvos as a starter. "
That's true.. and that's very American of you. It would mean that I would have more money for myself, so I can buy more to me. Me me me. "Me" in this case means FU economically speaking to sick people, retired people, people who have lost their jobs, to families, to poor people, to sick people, to students etc. Low taxes makes rich people richer and poor people poorer. I'm from a.. above average family economically, don't confuse me with an American, I want to pay high taxes, so does the other economically above average people we know so don't make this into something like "you want to take from the rich to give to yourself" cause we give a whole lot more than we take.
I seldom respond to direct comments. My direct response to you was to set you straight to the fact that we are both Swedes. However, my comments are worded in such an indirect and impersonal fashion, with the exception to the 60 yrs Ami, and the Israelis that pollute this forum, that without taking care you could misinterpret my intent.
Now we both know that you will not.
You answered one comment by addressing a supposed American. His vicious-capitalistic verbirage would seem American, but this forum and all forums are rife with spoilers from the Government agencies.
I suggest that you read The Rise of the Fourth Reich to understand this fact.
Likewise, arguing with those American types, of whom pollute the forums and the blogs with their trash-talk,is fruitless. Responses to them lend a dignity that they do not deserve. You can cite facts until you are blue in the face. The only facts that mean anything to them are the propaganda facts from their corrupt government and their corrupt AIPAC controlled Wall Street and banks, and corporations. Their economic infrastructure is dying, even as they wage two wars and look for a third. Let them die.
Sweden will recover from her social and economic ills in spite of the Americans.
