area known as rosengård in Uppsala....you know who they are..
Instead of just playing the name game, think of the reasons why they are doing it.
You're just being an anti-muslim racist.
already france experienced it.
simple solution. closed down mosques and ban burqa ban islam.
otherwise sweden is moving towards civil war.
i predicted 2 years back this kind of things will happen in sweden. i am quite sure they are going to increase in future with the religion of peace
one thing is for sure:
your once free and prosperous country is changeing to soemthing totaly different.
What has happened is this, according to unt.se: A bunch of windows in local schools in Gottsunda were smashed, and when police arrived, they were attacked with stones by a group of young people (several of whom were already known to the police). What followed was what the article above says, car fires and a fire bomb in the swimming centre.
So it would be nice if people commenting got their facts right (about Gottsunda, and about what has been going on there) before starting to comment. Starting to accuse a group of people who haven't been mentioned in the news reports isn't particularly clever or constructive. And that sort of rumour mongering is how unrest is started - by assuming that "they" did it without bothering to find out facts.
As for the reasons: they are probably used to this kind of behavior from their own country, and the young ones are not properly raised.
As for comments about the Arabic origin of rioters not mentioned in the article: this is of course not said in Swedish newspaper because it would not be politically correct. And I have heard enough about Swedish inhabitants of Gottsunda forced to send children to other school to escape bullying. This makes me sure who causes the problem
Where was it mentioned in this article that the gangs are muslims or immigrants? This is absolutely shocking automatically assuming they are unless you know something I don't know.
More than anything I think the main problem with Sweden is sometimes their lax laws and very soft approach to sentencing and arrests like sentences for rape is rather small. The youths that stoned firefighters in Gotenburg ought to have been arrested, sentenced and jailed.
It breaks my heart seeing Sweden crumble under such laxity
D.)is left wing...
Most of my time is spent in Gavle, and I can't count the amount of times that arsons are strongly linked to a specific minority group. The Willy's store comes to mind off the top of my head. And no, we aren't talking about a goat.
I once heard of a kebab stand go up in flames after the owner doused it with gas to collect insurance. The police asked what the gas can was for. Now, is that racist, or just dealing with the facts?
Maybe it's my Western bias but I personally Cherish the separation of religion and state while the Koran says they are one and the same.
What is more disturbing are the comments to the article. There is a lot of fear out there. A fear that would be dispelled if anyone visited or lived in Gottsunda. Unfortunately, the attacks against islam and immigrants are something to be expected in an economic downturn. When people's lives are made difficult by a struggling economy, they will look too see what they can blame. Where they can aim there fear. Immigrants are an easy focus for that blame. So, I say that what is more problematic than a few burning of cars (which is an isolated incident) is the spread of fear. This fear can be the basis of even further violence, especially while people look to find a target for their fears. I wonder how the Uppsala authorities will deal with it? Keep it in mind, Uppsala has one of the best universities in Europe a 20 minute bike ride down the road. The research done there on resolving conflict can be put to use.
I'm confident that the Uppsala public authorities have the skills and sensitivity to resolve this problem.
There seem to be several causes of such incidents. Many of these started due to small criminal elements (drug dealing gangs in the case of Handsworth, Birmingham). These riots quickly grew to include other individuals who had been alienated by the system over many years. Added to this were a number of 'rent a mob' hard left wingers using the situation for anarchic behaviour.
The solution wans't therefore a simple one. It involved coming down hard on the drug barons. It involved the police adopting a whole new 'community' based approach, employing people who had a much better understanding of the sensitivities of the area. It involved economic initiatives to improve the local economy.
But first of all, there had to be a recognition that something had to be done. Not a ham-fisted blaming of any particular group of society, but a real attempt to understand WHY the situation has become so volatile.
So, my plea to some of the more short sighted amongst the poster's here. Try to understand more and condemn less. Certainly, where criminals are behind these instances, bring the full force of the law to bear on these people. But I sense that rather more needs to be done.
Incidentally, whilst not entirely cured, the actions taken in Birmingham really did have an effect. Riots on the scale we saw back in those dark days have not reoccured, and overall, I'd say the city feels as if people of all cutures seem to rub along together pretty well. It's not perfect - but then nowhere is.
And finally, regarding Sweden's position on Aftonbladet's organ article - free speach comes with it the need for responsibility. Aftonbladet had failed to show any in this case, and a statement to this effect would do no-one any harm. I suspect, however, this has gone too far for politicians to back down. I also think Israel should have dealt with this in a different manner - ridiculing the the 'rag' would have been much more effective.
I don't take any sides on the Arab-Israeli conflict Both sides need to reach a resolution. Israel is much to blame for some of the violence shown by Palestinians and needs to withdraw fro the occupied territories (back to the original boundries of the state, in fact). Then the Palestinians need to reign back the torrent of hate some of them show Israel. Only then might we see peace...otherwise, well, a plague on both their houses. But not - I repeat - not, a plague on both their religions. You can't blame a whole race for the behaviour of politicians and their armies.
Here's to an attempt to live with each other in peace. The other option is to live a life of hate - I can't think of anything worse than that.
Hire a new bunch of grave-diggers in the meanwhile, because they will be needed. More than likely, crosses won't be needed to mark the graves.
The time for the normal foot-dragging Swedish pussy-footing with meetings and studies to end is long past due.
While Nero fiddles, Sweden burns.
Your comments are really funny. Afton Al Bladet & UpsAllah! What about Malmo-hammed? Ha!
Everything essential to your path to success is paid for by tax: school, high school, university/technical school
Ignore the fact that you, right now, may not have the same things and privileges as "svenne-banan", but keep getting yourself in trouble and you won't ever have ANYTHING.
Surely, we're talking about rioting Norwegian, Finn and Latvian immigrants, as well as some bored Swedes, who all enjoy burning cars and throwing firebombs at swimming pools.... You know, just like those native Swedes who rioted in Malmo half a year ago.
30 years ago, before immigration from Muslim countries became the fad, was there all these problems, and to this scale? Were there supermarkets burnt down in Södertälje? Were Police and fire fighters harassed with projectiles in the suburb of Rosengård?
I only ask, because, well if this has just become a problem after so many Muslim immigrants moved in, well, wouldn't logic dictate that we DO have them to blame? Wouldn't the most logical course of action be to stop so many immigrants being allowed into the country? Just seems to me that it is taboo to blame the Muslims, but it is OK to blame the Swedes, or the SD party.
Is it me, or is Sweden split between realists, and lefties who can't see the forest for the trees?
To all the lefties out there who support Muslims in this country, what is your end game? What is your goal? The end game for Islam is to have reign over the entire planet. I know this because I have actually read the Qur'an. Is that your end game too?
About SD, they say: "The critical ingredient of a safe, harmonic, solid and supportive society is the common identity, which in turn requires a high degree of ethnic and cultural uniformity amongst the people".... isn't that simply xenophobic and ethnocentric??? Don't you know what those 2 things have done to the world? Did you go to school mate??
And Lea, you're just being an ignorant jinglist. Calling someone a racist is very bad, especially when they are NOT racist! If you are anti-moslum you are PREJUDICED! You can NOT be RACIST! Moslums want you to think it is racist because it will make people feel guilty!
@CarlBlack - "Lea: Localer's post is not racist. ... it is clear that some their members have caused it. As for the reasons: they are probably used to this kind of behavior from their own country, and the young ones are not properly raised."
Exactly! What kind of mindset are these "immigrant" kids raised with when they are taught that they have the SUPERIOR culture and that they are living in an INFERIOR culture. Why should they have to conform? To integrate?
@La Figaro - "It looks like many commentators on TheLocal.se are racist, dumb, islamophobic, hate immigrants or can't think articulately."
AGAIN WITH THE RACIST!!! Racist against immigrants? Not possible! Racist against religion? Not possible! I really doubt people are PREJUDIST against immigrants. It sounds like people are PRJUDICED at a particular group of immigrants who believes that their religion makes them far superior to those in their new country!
I agree with you that even IF it is White Trailer Trash doing this damage, they need to be arrested and sentencing should be SO PAINFUL that others will think twice before doing it!
In the USA they have a great way to handle immigrants who WILLINGLY break the law. When they get out of jail, they are deported!
@rumcajs - "most of muslims are normal people like you and me (the extremist are a minority)..."
I would really recommend you learn about islam! It was born of outrageous violence and brutality! It means SUBMISSION and for 1400 years its members have NO choice but to submit, for fear of death! The problem is that MOST mosloms know nothing about their own religion! Most of these decent people are trapped in it!
I haven't heard anyone refer to Swedes as dumb except in regards to their justice and immigration policies. Why would you willingly turn yourselves into a non-homogeneous society by importing people from Africa and the Middle-East? Didn't you look around at other multi-racial societies first to see the problems that they were having or did you think the Swedes were smarter than all of those other countries and could possibly make it work?
Now I live in Uppsala and am sufficiently familiar with Gottsunda (and some of its non-Swedish, non-caucasian residents - some are friends, regardless of our backgrounds, skin colours or religious beliefs or lack thereof - others are blatantly hostile towards me for being a)white and b)british just for the record - so racism is a two-way street there).
I can confidently tell you that the differences between Gottsunda and Toxteth are massive (here the poilice have guns, in Gottsunda the accommodation is bloody good in comparison and the youth in Toxteth had a very valid reason for feeling alienated, discriminated against and victimised) - yet there are sufficient similarities for the matter to be taken seriously enough to consider a simmering race-related problem.
Sadly, I would conclude (again from personal witness and observation) that the majority of racist behaviour is generated by white swedes against non-white non-swedes. It's just the way it is. Tackle that, and you tackle the majority of the problem.
Oh I also find it ironic that the place I read most racist comment and debate about racism is on the laughingly-called "discussion" boards of The Local.
"What we despise most in others is most likely what we despise most about ourselves". Take a look in the mirror, people.
There has been a concerted move in the past couple of weeks to stir up racial hatred in Sweden via the posts in The Local, started as a reaction to the Aftonbladet "Organ harvesting" article
While there are rational unbiased posts in this particular news item from fellow Brits - pjm69 and justanotherexpat , but a lot of posts on this and many other stories come from non-Swedish residents who make thinly veiled racist comments accusing Muslims of being responsible for all anti-social behaviour in Sweden
I think that it is time that posters start declaring their affiliations/location in their posts/profiles so that readers can judge the bias or lack of bias of their opinions
Let me start the ball rolling

I am absolutely amazed at the shear naïvety of some of the defenders of Islam here. I want to share something with you all. It is a conversation with some year 9 students, in a mostly immigrant area.
"It is not as wrong raping a Swedish girl as raping an Arab girl," says Hamid. "The Swedish girl gets a lot of help afterwards, and she had probably f**ked before, anyway. But the Arab girl will get problems with her family. For her, being raped is a source of shame. It is important that she retains her virginity until she marries."
He continues...
"It is far too easy to get a Swedish whore…… girl, I mean;" says Hamid, and laughs over his own choice of words. "Many immigrant boys have Swedish girlfriends when they are teenagers. But when they get married, they get a proper woman from their own culture who has never been with a boy. That's what I am going to do. I don't have too much respect for Swedish girls. I guess you can say they get f**ked to pieces."
Most of you - I hope - will have read that before, but it is a common perspective amongst these youth. Some have even compared it to war tactics to demoralise the enemy warriors.
This was not an issue 20 years ago, but is something that is covered up by the leftist news agencies like Aftonbladet. I would like to see Sweden remain "in partibus infidelium" but all bets are off.
To you living in Sweden who do not see Islam as a problem, WAKE UP or you will loose your country. Some estimates are putting Muslims as a majority here as soon as 2050. Are you seriously that blind?
It is called a system. You pay insurance, taxes and you gonna benefit services. Probably it's different in the country you are coming from. And probably I would not allow either someone in a royal library who is menacing to burn down "...everything that you created."
lol
I do not get what you are saying. As soon as I got here I got a personnumber and I used ALL the services without problem. Are you saying you are an illegal immigrant?
Specifically, regarding muslims, just because some of them seem peaceful, that does not mean they are not following their hateful toilet book, which says they are allowed to lie to non-muslims to bring about their destruction. Every country should have a freedom of religion law stating, "free to follow any reigion that does not call for the forced conversion, subjugation, or death of non-believers".
Unfortunatly, every country has leftists that are bent on destroying their own country, and they should be dealt with first. (charged with treason and killed would be a great start)
Arm your citizens and protect yourself from ANY religion or group acting like animals, destroying others property and peaceful life.

Think about the Danish cartoons. Everwhere they were published, animals rioted and killed people. Everywhere but the US, where they knew they would be shot in the street by free people, not willing to put up with violent extortion.
