A nine-year-old girl was robbed at knifepoint by a group of young boys in a sandbox in Partille outside of Gothenburg in western Sweden. The booty: the girl’s collection of Pokemon cards.

Two 10-year-old boys, and an as of yet unidentified playmate, threatened the girl with a knife in their bid to steal her assortment of the popular Japanese cartoon trading cards.

According to police, the boys also kicked the girl and hit her in the face.

A woman witnessed the sandbox attack from her balcony, believing at the time that the boys had simply thrown sand at the girl and pushed her to the ground, reports the Göteborgs-Posten (GP) newspaper.

But the actual course of events was much more violent, leading the girl’s mother to file a report with the police.

The knife-wielding 10-year-olds and their friend will now be a case for social services.

“Social services in Partille have been informed and on Friday I’ll present a report of the incident,” Anders Klinberg of the local police office’s youth task force told GP.

My God, this is what happens when your country treats crime as just an afterthought. Those children's parents of lack thereof should be brought in and evaluated as with their children, to allow a child to obtain a knife and rob and steal from anyone let alone a little girl!

Throw the keys away!

When they catch the boys, the little girl should be allowed to kick them in the nuts... as well as the boys parents,

Lucky they didnt actually stab the poor little girl. Then they would have received a hand delivered hardly worded letter from the authorities. Just like with the 16 year old murderers, get this violent crime out of your system when you are young. If they committed this crime as adults they would have done months for this.

I bet we will see more of what happened in time. In the last century, Sweden was relatively isolated and crime rates were very low. You might want to see the statistics - Sweden is reknown for its good quality historical statistics.

The US has manged to export the wild west to sweden and several countries in the world. The primary culprit are movies and unfiltered news about school killing and the like reaching children.

@audrian

sure blame america for this, because swedish values surely are not this?

Well your criminal justice system is lacking any sense to be nice about it. I think it is your long dormant viking blood showing itself again.

Then again because of the way women in sweden have emasculate dthe men you either have super sensitive girly men or super aggressive macho men. Your doing, not America's

The real problem is that I do not believe the police can actually get involved!

Something about under 15 years old and the police can do nothing but give it to social services to handle.

I WISH I HAD FAITH in the Swedish authorities ability to handle this properly, BUT I REALLY doubt they have ANY clue how to save these children!

I hope these "children" are REMOVED from their current environment and put in an environment that is more conducive to learning manners and discipline.

I cannot believe these kids were not removed immediately UNTIL a proper investigation is done!

Did the police - or anyone else, recover the stolen items?????????

@Audrian,

Now this is America's fault too? It is SWEDEN'S job to censor movies, tv shows, and news programs, not the US's job to quit making them. China does this, as well as other nations. If you dont think the freedom of speech and press are important support a political party that agrees with you. Why are Swedes going to see such films or other forms of media? No one is putting a gun to their head (we can be sure of this since they are effectively disarmed).

Sorry this is YOUR fault. You are at fault by the way you vote. You have an immigration system that encourages criminals from 3rd world countries to pose as "refugees", your legal system gives murderers 4 year sentences, and you have a social welfare system that finances people to go overseas and train at jihadist training camps. We all have problems but continually blaming a country half way around the world is not going to solve yours.

I think castration is a good idea here.

Most comments here are either archaic or playing the blame game, neither actually solves the problem. The police shouldn't actually have to deal with this to begin with.

Parents take no responsibility for their children anymore, they are simply a burden. It has become apparent that the stereotype is that of parents having kids, then getting bored with them. Parents have their children, then send them to daycare as soon as possible, the responsibility is then on that of the daycare personal. The kids then go to school, the responsibility then shifts to the teachers. The Parents don't want any responsibility, they have their lives back and can go out and "party" again.

With no strong role-model they find others on television etc, can you see the domino effect? Then we have the issue of freedoms without any responsibility. Children are encouraged to basically do what they want, without any consequences. Psychologists are at odds as to whether 10yr olds even understand the concept of life and death. When I was that age I remember thinking "Death" was like going for a long walk somewhere for a while.

The consequences for this kind of behaviour will be at best "a stern talking to" and some political groups will even say that that will infringe on a child's rights. Others will say that "they didn't know better, it's not their fault." Where does the responsibility lie then? Is there no one to blame? Sooner or later there will be a case where a 10yr old kills someone, who do we blame then? 50cent?

Western civilisations lack of responsibility, political correctness for the sake of political correctness, and failed experiment in multiculturalism will destroy it.

You are right that the problem is the responsibility of the parents. But when these parents are having 5 or 6 kids it is kind of hard to pay attention to all of them at once.

pokemon cards really?

thats gotta be the stupidest reason to knifepoint someone.

the nineties are having a revival

throw these hoodlums in juvenile hall or something
16:48 September 15, 2009 by farnoxo
These boys probably didn't really understand the potential (and real) consequences of what they were doing. I am sure they probably got the idea from older siblings and /or parents. There is now way that a normal, socially adjusted 10-year old would do this.

On the other hand, now that the act has been done, I wonder if the the repercussions be such that these kids will áctually learn that there ARE consequences to actions like this.

I suspect that all they will learn from this is how toothless the legal system is and that there are, effectively, no repercussions for pretty much anything that a kid under 15 does!
