Opposition nose ahead in new poll

A year before the Swedish general election the opposition have a slight lead in the opinion polls, a new voter survey by Sifo shows.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt remains twice as popular as his main rival Mona Sahlin.

The Green party, Social Democrats and Left party claimed 48.4 percent in the new poll, while the governing Alliance coalition polled 45 percent.

According to the Sifo survey, published in several morning newspapers, the Christian Democrats would fall below the threshold for parliamentary seats if there were an election held today.

The party polled 3.7 percent in the poll.

"I think that the Christian Democrats will gain support votes. But they should of course deliberate why their support is so low," Toivo Sjörén at Sifo told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.

At the same time only 16 percent of those interviewed would prefer to see Mona Sahlin as prime minister. More than twice as many, 37 percent, prefer the Moderate party leader Fredrik Reinfeldt.

Political science professor Marie Demker explained that the figures indicate that Mona Sahlin is not accepted as the given leader in the same way that Fredrik Reinfeldt is.

"The voters don't really know where they have her, she has not really been tested yet," Demker told the Göteborgs-Posten newspaper.

Christian Democrats loose support because they have proven that there is no difference between them and other parties of the Alliance. They garnered support mostly from social conservatives, but it was Göran Hägglund who introduced the bill that allows foreign women to have abortions in Sweden. It's like Mona Sahlin or Lars Ohly introducing flat tax in Sweden. No wonder why they are punished by voters in polls.

What?

No feminists crying that Mona is being discriminated against because she has a vagina?

Or ....maybe I commented a bit early?

You're kidding, right? Don't even write such things as jokes.. that sh!t should stay on the other side of the atlantic. Your comment isn't reasonable, let me guess, the new ev!l naz! soc!al!st health care plan in the US will k!ll people, right? The government will send out people to ask how they want them to k!ll them, right?

Please keep drivel like that away from discussions about Swedish politics, thank you.

I'm, definitely not kidding leprehcaun. And your third sentence (`Your comment....)is not too far from the truth. Your fifth sentence (`Please keep...`) proves my earlier point, and I can thus rest my case. May the Sahliness and her marxist filth disappear into oblivion. Celebrate freedom!

I'm with leprehcaun. You guys in USA don't have a clue of what Marxism is and then you come here thinking you are bloody great and writing nonsense s**t full of ultra-right paranoia. I'm from a "post-soviet" country and Mona Sahlin's thing is NOT Marxism and it's veeery far from it. Can you tell me why you think it is? C'on, think by yourself for once in your life and give me something with sense.... you could make me change my mind. But don't just repeat the same s**t like a parrot.
