The Bosnian Serb Prime Minister Milorad Dodik praised the decision of the UN war crimes court to grant early release to Biljana Plavsic, a convicted was criminal serving time in a Swedish prison.

The prime minister was speaking on Wednesday of the decision after the former Bosnian Serb visited her in a Swedish jail, according to local media reports.

"We are satisfied and happy since Mrs (Biljana) Plavsic will be next month... finally released from jail," Dodik told the Bosnian Serb SRNA news agency by telephone from Sweden, where she is serving her sentence.

"Plavsic feels well and is happy due to The Hague(-based) court decision," he added.

During his visit to Plavsic, Dodik was accompanied by an Orthodox bishop and a minister of his government.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) announced on Tuesday that Plavsic should be granted early release from her 11-year jail term for good behaviour and apparent rehabilitation.

Under Sweden's law the 79-year-old becomes eligible for release from October 27th, after serving two-thirds of her term. The tribunal has the final say in the matter.

The Bosnian Serb "Iron Lady" was sentenced in February 2003 after she admitted playing a leading role in a campaign of persecution against Croats and Muslims during Bosnia's 1992-1995 war.

She is the highest ranking official of the former Yugoslavia to have acknowledged responsibility for atrocities committed in the 1990s wars that accompanied the former federation's break up.

Her release provoked outrage from Muslim and Croat war victims but was welcomed by Bosnian Serbs.

Postwar Bosnia consists of two semi-autonomous entities - the Serbs' Republika Srpska and the Muslim-Croat Federation. Each has its own government and they share barely functioning central institutions.

Sweden you should be ashame of your self only 6 1/2 years for what she did good thing hitler is dead because if he had lived and was sentence to carried out his prison term in sweden would you let him out for good behaviour, again sweden is showing the world that if you want to committ a crime against humanity come here and serve your prison term and we let you out early no matter what you did

This decision is nuts.

This sends a message that war crimes are a wonderful thing.

If Sweden had been invaded in World War 2 by the Nazi's or Soviets, I can assure everyone there would be a different attitude in Sweden.

Maybe Hitler would have done everyone a favour if he had invaded Sweden.

It is shamefull and untrue headlines by the locals. Its hurting millions of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina that know about crimes about humanity of Mrs. Biljana Plavsic, former President of Republic Srpska. It will be shameful that sentenced war criminal Mrs. Biljana Plavsic is about to be ralized from the Swedish prison.

Please, take this shamefull lie from this headlines.

Perhaps Madeleine Albright whose father was Jewish diplomat for

Checoslavakia but who lived in Austria where he is suspect in theft of art and personal property of others as well as in Belgrade,so perhaps Albright who bombed Serbia back to the stone age in the 1990's had a personal vengeance agenda ?

Somehow this just smells of something political that is hidden that for the moment we all can't see. Surely this women was'nt released because she always ate the broccoli with her prison food rations.

Hei Tony Ryals

This is just par for the course!

Madeleine Albright was just the rep. of the Jewish. Ukrainain Mafia (Historically from Odessa) in the White house during the Clinton time. Just like Kissinger during Nixon. They are taking care of business in the White House and following their orders from their leaders which are NOT based in the White House, try Canada.

Yes The U.N had no right to release such a disgusting War Crimimal, but just looks who is in Charge of the U.N. these days Ban Kee Moon ( a Samsung Men).

Why would the EU get involved in protecting Muslims in Sebia???? You have probably made a Serb enemy and the Muslim will still say he has the right to kill you as a part of his Jihad.

I am glad the EU didn't exhist in 1945, Patton's Third Army, (USA) would have all been put in Swedish jails for violating the rights of Nazis who were only acting on their belief/philpsophy that they had a right to kill non-Nazis.
