A mysterious package addressed to Sweden’s Princess Madeleine at the World Childhood Foundation in New York prompted a response from the police’s bomb squad on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Princess, who was recently engaged to long-time boyfriend Jonas Bergström, is temporarily in New York working for the foundation, which Queen Silvia helped found in 1999.

But instead of a bomb, the package contained a bra and panties, several cassette tapes, and a love letter addressed to the Princess, according to the New York Post newspaper.

“A package was left in the Childhood’s office in New York. It’s a routine procedure to always check packages addressed to the royal family. I don’t have any information about the contents, but it wasn’t a bomb,” said Royal Court spokesperson Annika Sönnerberg to the Aftonbladet newspaper.

The incident has been handed over to the New York police’s intelligence division, who are investigating the incident further.

The World Childhood Foundation was founded in 1999 by the Swedish queen. The organization works to give marginalized children around the world the chance to have a happy childhood.

A gala dinner is planned for October 21st in New York to celebrate the foundation’s tenth anniversary.

Her Royal Highness is very beautiful, so, it's no wonder she attracts some crazies. The world is full of them. It's very difficult being in the spotlight 24/7. I wish her well and hope her life is long and safe. I wish the Royal Family had full power in government, so immigrants could be deported easier to make Sweden much safer and to get back to being Swedish instead of becoming a muslim state and just another European Union member that has lost it's identity and freedom, as it has.

fully agree with BaronessKvP ;)
06:06 October 17, 2009 by Tutu
I agree with the two of you. but they must also deport Queen silvia as well. she was born of a german father and a brazilian of portuguesse origin mother. she has 3 nationalities. Sweden wake up. I dont know if Madelaine is immigrant or not. Please let us rid our country of immigrants. We dont need them

tutu..why bother respond..I doubt your irony would be understood by racists such as BaronessKvP...who dont even bother to do their research on the geneology of the Swedish Royal family...sigh
17:27 October 17, 2009 by Weird_X
how is BaronessKvP a racist just for speaking out the truth? ok the deporting part is a bit much but, all in all she (or he?) is right!

I have skipped trips to Sweden for the last 5 years because 1.it has one of the highest crime rates in europe

2.your media is brainwashed and being told to falsify crime reports and reports on immigrant-related crimes

3.THE EFFIN ALCOHOL IS TOO EFFIN EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! (if Bill Gates wanted to get wasted in Sweden, he'd be on the dole afterwards!!) :D:D

Most crimes are being committed by immigrants, that is a fact nobody can deny according to Interpol - so swedish media can lie about it all they want!

speaking bout the royals, not a single royal in europe is of pure ethnicity of his/her country, so pointing at the swedish royals not to be original swedish is completely unnecessary ;)

You people should treasure your royal family, they seem quite cool to me, when you look at England's prince Harry: He's a disgrace!

One more thing: you're not necessarily racist just for thinking pro-swedish/national-democrat

bah! She and the rest of "the Family" really could use a few bombs - a drain on Sweden with absolutely nothing positive to show for their existence.

By the way, I don't hate foreigners, affiliates of other religions etc. but the swedish immigration policy is a joke. 1.6 million of the 9.2 million peeps in Sweden (2009 census) are not swedish. Ok, there's a lot of finnish and norwegians as well. But how much more can this economy take? The swedish HDI (human development index) has already dropped, so has the GDP which is now below that of Poland, South Korea and Mexico. This is a direct result of the swedish immigration policy. This is not about racism, fascism or nationalism, it's about the economy and your living standard!
15:18 October 20, 2009 by trinaican
weird X really needs to understand what are the drivers of GDP and take a better look at european crime statistics before you speak...when u say ill educated things like that...it makes ppl not take your opinions seriosuly..you appear stupid and ultimately all your points are discredited

you also need to learn how to differentiate issues...the queen is half brazilian..and lived in brazil for quite a number of years... after she married the king she brought her full brazilian parents to live with them in drottningholm palace (read wikipedia article on the queen)

those are typical immigrant characteristics right?

so its funny that your friend is bringing up immigrants as a bad thing etc when the monarchy that he is praising is not even fully european

By far other scandanavians comprise the majority of immigrants in sweden..what I think you really want to say is that its the muslim, coloured or black immigrants that are the undesireable ones which are causing all the crime and bringing down the GDP. Is that what you want to say? if so..just say it...

go hold a placard with the neonazis..make your opinion known
