A Stockholm-area couple have been indicted for using torture-like methods to raise their children, including hitting them with shoehorns and stabbing them with knives and forks.

The children involved are aged four, seven, and eight, with police launching an investigation several months ago after the middle child told a school nurse about the way the parents treated the children, the Metro newspaper reports.

During interviews with police, the children told of almost abuse from the parents when one of the failed to abide by the parents’ wishes.

“Mom hit me with a shoehorn,” one daughter told police, according to Metro.

According to the children, the couple also punished them with stabs from a knife and fork hard enough to cause pain, but not hard enough to cause visible injuries.

The parents deny the charges, instead claiming the children’s bruises come from injuries sustained during falls during gymnastics and athletics practice.

“Why would I hit my beloved children?,” the mother said to police during an interrogation.

Prosecutor Pontus Klang, who formally filed the charges of gross violation of a person’s integrity (grov fridskränkning), told Metro the indictment is based on interviews with the children as well as personnel from their school.

Ever since a formal complaint was received, the family has been placed in a supervised family care facility.

A wooden spoon is better than a shoehorn.

Which are the reasons that we may not learn a bit more about the background of this family, i.e. social class, financial or drug problems, social classification of the neighborhood they live in, ethnicity?

Is everyone in the Swedish school system as open minded as you or are you just special?
19:53 October 26, 2009 by geecee61
No excuse here what so ever...they are not fit to be called parents...and should be removed from all parenting duties of these poor children, the ethnicity or social class excuse will be little comfort when the level of violence against children escalates to murder...stamp it out and stamp it out hard.

Dre Estwd,

Would you prefer the two murderers in the article "Juvenile care for Stureby teen killing" be middle eastern as well?

Your statement doesn't make any sense.

OK your last comment makes sense but the previous one didn't - maybe you were writing as you speak.

However nowhere in the article does it say that the family in question was muslim. Do you have some more insight in to this matter or are you just one of these people who blames all of swedens ills on immigrants?
20:33 October 27, 2009 by Nina_
Oh my god... you guys are all immigrants, and talking crap about other immigrants like you based on their religious background. I am catholic, I respect all religions, and have some awesome friends who are muslim -they don't drink, don't fight, and don't beat their spouses or children. You guys are so fast in judging people. It's not a matter of faith, it is a matter of education.

Clearly you are not a fan of muslims for whatever reason. However I say again, nowhere in the article does it say that the family in question was muslim so I fail to see how you can justify your 'Muslim bashing' in this case.
13:45 October 28, 2009 by ukgal28
I think this type of abuse of children is horrible, and regardless of the enthnicity of the parents, if they're guilty they should be punished (whatever that is in Sweden).

@tonycobh

Rightly or wrongly, Sharia law states that both people found guilty of adultery should be stoned, not just the woman although I conceed this seems to vary by country.... http://www.religioustolerance.org/isl_adul2.htm

Oh so you don't have any insight into this case. . Interesting that you inferred that this is generally a Muslim problem and more interesting that you would wager as such.

You may be right but at this stage it is just in your imagination.

You all tolerant and beautiful people who deny any connection between islam and domestic violence, do not rush to buy a villa in Hjällbo, Rosengård, Angered, Bergsjön etc. where Somalians/Arabs dominate. You do not run to enroll your kids into these kindergartens and schools, where according to some Swedish parents their kids are beaten on a daily basis by their wonderful and tolerant peers.

But you sit and moan about intolerance of others... The best you can do is to tell how much you traveled (which means that you have money and you live in a cute little protestant/white/educated area) or lived in a "multicultural" area before, without mentioning why you ran away from that area like from fire..

Stop with this hypocrisy it just makes you look stupid...
08:18 October 29, 2009 by spy
No I would not buy a property in those areas but not because they are dominated by Somalians or Arabs you racist pr*ck.
