Swedish toddlers set to receive swine flu vaccine

The swine flu vaccine will soon be available to all children younger than three-years-old, according to Swedish health authorities.

In general, parents have been advised to abstain from having small children vaccinated because of a lack of information regarding the vaccine's side effects on children under three.
However, the Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket), which oversees Sweden’s vaccination programme, is expected to review the current regulations next week, the Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) newspaper reports.
The review follows the receipt of preliminary results from the first vaccine study which show that there are no more side effects for young children than for other age groups.
Following the review, the vaccine will likely be made available to all children between six-months- and three-years-old.
“The recommendations for children under three will likely come within a few weeks,” Jan Liliemark, a professor with the Medical Products Agency, told Sveriges Television (SVT).
The primary motivation for changing the recommendations is that children under two-years-old are especially vulnerable, both when it comes to infection and risk of death.

As to the comment re "I am Legend", I can only pray that it was said in jest.
Do some simple 5 minute research on how many people normally die in a single flu season from the regular seasonal flu. Now compare that with H1N1. If you hadn't done it before now, you'll probably be surprised to know that the risk of you or any of your family members dying from swine flu is less than 1 in 15 000.
Either you all teach your kids proper hygiene, or give them a pointless flu shot which in itself could make them ill.
Make your own choice, just be sure it's an informed one.

Considering that this vaccine is incredibly safe by *all* *scientific* standards, I can't imagine why any reasonable person would not want to get the vaccine.
that site does not give even the slightest suggestion that H1N1 is more dangerous than the seasonal flu. Have you analyzed those graphs?
Most of them refer to "all types and subtypes of influenza, not just those from 2009 H1N1 influenza virus."
Furthermore, the graphs that do depict H1N1 specifically show only minimal deaths from said virus- 2 or 3 per week (green and pink graph) Again, have u actually taken 5 minutes to analyze this information?
Reality check everyone: Number of deaths in the US per year from seasonal flu: 36 000. Number of deaths across the entire globe from H1N1 since summer: 60 71 (as of today).
Everyone is free to get vaccinated or not as they please, but the logical among us, as most of this country seems to be, won't get this vaccine.
If you are a medical student, you should not be allowed to study medicine if you are willing to endanger by giving inappropiate advice in such a cavalier manner.
On monday morning, I intend to contact the medical school in Lund and ask them to clarify your comments.
