One dose is enough: Swedish health officials

Swedish health authorities have determined that one dose of vaccine is sufficient to provide adequate protection against the swine flu for healthy people over 13-years-old, including pregnant women.

However, the Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket) and the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) still recommend that children and people with diminished immune systems and other risk factors should receive two doses.

The recommendations come following news that health authorities are expected to decide within the next two weeks whether children between six-months- and three-years-old should also be vaccinated.

At the same time, Swedish health services are straining to cope with the increasing pressure from a public hungry for more information about the swine flu and how to get vaccinated.

“We’ve gotten signals from several county councils that there is very, very high demand right now. For example, in Malmö there was an hour wait to get in,” said Lars-Olof Hensjö of the medical advising service Sjukvårdsrådgivningen, to the TT news agency.

Sjukvårdsrådgivningen, which operates the 1177 phone service and corresponding 1177.se website, has received many a number of inquiries from the concerned parents of small children, according to Hensjö.

“Because the illness is of such a nature that it affects children and young people to a greater extent, it’s natural that the number of calls increases at a time like this,” he said.

What about those who died or became paralyzed because of this vaccine in Sweden and other countries? Why don't the authorities and the press give an account of these? Because it is more economical this way?

50% of doctors in U.K. and 60% of doctors in Italy, many doctors in Turkey, USA, Sweden and other countries refuse to get vaccinated by this swine flu vaccine. Something wrong with their medical education?

@ askin,

Yes askin, in your world Elvis has been kidnapped by aliens and the nazi's have a secret base in antartica. I personally find stories such as that to be funny and interesting, but am dismayed at the number of people who believe such fantasies.

In Sverige two people may have died out of over a million vaccinated. It is still not proven what they died of and they are literally still trying to figure out what happened to them. It may even have been natural caues.

The autopsy reports have not been released yet and it probably will be for about another two weeks before that happens.

That is why I call the journalists who declare the cause to be a vaccine to be liars, as they do not know.

The conspiracy thoerists are not waiting for facts to be presented but are making it up themselves.

It looks like quite a few newspapers are carrying the fabrications, just like the Aftonbladet article on taking organs from dead bodies. Organs from dead bodies are useless for transplant.

Seriously do some learning and reading, before typing imbecilic nonsense.

Some Swedish people read the comments on the local and will be getting the impression that all english speakers in Sweden are deranged fantasists who believe every conspiracy theory ever made up.

Please just stop the nonsense or only comment on American forums were such deranged fantasies are acceptable, expected and normal. Please remember you are commenting in a European forum.

Someday I will meet the editors of the local in a social situation and I intend to let them know in very direct terms how they are making an embassment of all english speakers, by encouraging such obviously mentally ill fabrications and colluding with them, instead of tackling them or deleting them immediately.

Here is some basic books that will help you gain a basic understanding on the subject off biology and related disciplines.

I suggest you buy them, read them and learn from them. Most of them have online access to the latest developments in there chapters. They are well written, concise and easy to read.

I was interested to learn the other day that the statistics about flu vaccinations are entirely false.

the 50% effective thing is based on a small group of people that don't really help in any way !

when a proper study was done the results were vaccinations are completely useless, in fact a placebo was better value !

we only do flu vaccinations because we "know" they work and we will not test to see if they work because we know they do. IE circular reasoning only!

someone tested and found that they don't work at all but they just can't publish that, too many people make money from this quackery.

they found that young people with good immune systems did not need vaccination as it was mostly the wrong guess as to strain in the vaccination and it was like sending ice to the Eskimos (sorry Inuit), did not help one iota.

and older people and with weak immune systems just got sick and did not generate a immune response sufficient to make antibodies, so the long and short of it was flu vaccines are totally meaningless in real terms.

nobody is game to actually do a double blind study (cos we know it works) and if they did they may find a big surprise.

have a look here

@ Da Goat,

More consipiracy theory.

Since you like quoting USA conspiracy theory. Read some actual proven content from the USA. Ie, not completely fabricated like your sources.

Also post number 3 from myself above yours, applies to you as well.

Well I dont trust the Swedish health officials!! The same people who said initially there was no need to get one vaccinated!!

When you go to a hospital it seems to me these people are just plain stupid, the people injecting u dont even know where to put the needle, had that experience in Sahlgrenkska!! The nurse was like I cant find ur vein and I told her : Give me the needle I will inject myself, Haha. Guess she didnt understand the joke...
18:50 November 7, 2009 by Nemesis
@ Pacey,

Vaccinations are not injected into a vien. To do so would be extremely dangerous for any vaccination.

Swedish social styrelsen withholds certain important information re some of the side effects of swine flu vaccin.

Following are such serious possible side effects this vaccin

may give, which Ministry of Health of Turkey has outlined in

a memorandum to all the vaccination centres in Turkey. Turkey uses the same vaccin as Sweden.

- serious allergic reactions

- inflammation of the nerves

- Trombositopeni ( serious bleeding in the organs incl. brain and the digestive system) (Users of blood thinning medicines like waran, plavix, trombyl especially beware.)

- Nefrititis (kidney disorder)

- Vasculit

- Convulsion (loosing of consciousness and severe cramps in the muscles)

- Encephalitis (Inflammation of the brain)

- Guillain- Barre syndrom

- Bell paralysis (Paralysis of the facial nerves)

- Demielinisation (loosing of the outer membrane of the nerves)

- Occulorespiratory syndrom (severe breathing difficulties)

reference MILLIYET DAILY 6 Nov 2009 Article "Korkutucu Yan Etkiler" (Frightening Side Effects)

A medical doctor in Turkey entered a coma while being vaccinated with swine flu vaccin and recommends all vaccinations be done only in the hospitals. (Turkish press 6 nov)

Minister of Health of Turkey vaccinated himself but the PM

refused to be vaccinated pointing to the inherent dangers in the vaccin.

@ askin,

Again more conspiracy theory nonsense.
20:30 November 8, 2009 by Pacey

"The ice dripped in the winter sun. It was the first day when the light had been intense enough to cause dripping in the sunlight. To hear it was an extraordinary wakeup call.
