A man in his sixties from central Sweden who was suffering from the swine flu has been found dead in his home, according to a statement from Örebro hospital.

The man sought care last week after missing a week of work due to illness. He came to the hospital to ask doctors to authorize him to go on long-term sick leave.

At the time, doctors didn’t find the man to be suffering from any serious illnesses, according to the hospital.

But a few days later he was found dead in his home, located in the north of Örebro County in central Sweden.

A subsequent autopsy revealed that the man had suffered from a heart attack and had signs of a respiratory infection. He also tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus.

“The man is judged to have died from a heart attack in connection with influenza,” Örebro hospital said in a statement, adding that the man didn't belong to any known group deemed to have an increased risk of becoming infected with a serious case of the swine flu.

The hospital said it was waiting to release more details about the incident until a press conference scheduled for later on Tuesday afternoon.

This is very unfortunate.

I hope the flu vaccine rollout will help to prevent more deaths.

It works by pretending the virus cannot see you and creeping up behind it quietly. Then you jump on it and say "Boo! be gone vile virus" and it runs off, ever so scared.

Of course it doesn't work with the winter flu; that just turns round and bites your nose.

This is ridiculous. There is no need for a flu vaccine. Not to mention this article is so misleading. The doctors didn't "not find the man to be suffering from any serious illnesses;" they refused him care! If they had taken care of him, this could've been prevented. Swine flu isn't your worry; it's your health care system!

Wake up, Sweden!

Thousands of people die every year for the common seasonal flu, thousands of people die every year for hearth attack. And I do not read about nobody of them in the newspaper.

The reality is that the swine flu so far has been much less dangerous than the seasonal one, despite expectations.

Death is always scaring and, unfortunately, nobody has invented yet a vaccine against it.

No reason to panic, no reason to publish this sort of news neither.

The Problem here is the health care system, Nothing else!!! The hospitals in sweden are constantly sending people home without giving them a full checkup. Just recently a girl at my workplace went into hospital complaining about chest pains that she has had for a few days. (This girl doesnt smoke, eats healthy and works out). The doctor told her it was nothing to worry about to take some panodol and rest. Two days later she was taken into hospital and was on a life support machine. If she had been given a proper checkup that could have been advoided. Thankfully she is ok now. Swedish doctors wake up!!!!!
