Is it the chiselled jaw, the tall and blonde reputation or the manly genes of their Viking roots?

Swedish men have been judged as the world’s best looking by a dating website especially for beautiful people, while blokes from Britain have landed near the bottom of the list.

WHAT BEAUTIFUL SWEDES MIGHT LOOK LIKE (MALE AND FEMALE)

Website BeautifulPeople.com promises members they won't be ”filtering through unattractive people” on their pages.

The fate of an application is dependent on whether your face fits as judged by existing members.

Swedish men fair the best with 65 percent of applicants accepted, according to figures released by the site.

The world's second most beautiful males can be found in Brazil, with 45 percent of applicants accepted, while Danish men round out the top three, boasting a 40 percent rate of acceptance.

In comparison, only 12 percent of British guys made the grade and a mere 9 percent of Russian and Polish men who registered were deemed model applicants.

Scandinavian beauties also took the top spots for the fairer sex with 68 percent of Swedish woman being accepted, a percentage high enough to put them in second place and a notch below the 75 percent approval rate for women from Norway, deemed by the dating site to be the world's most beautiful.

Women from Iceland came in a close third, with 66 percent being allowed to post their profiles on BeautifulPeople.com.

Since the site was launched in 2002 around two million people have been told their looks are not good enough to join.

“It might sound morally wrong to our critics but our growing success is the beautiful truth,” said the site's managing director Greg Hodge in a statement.

Well that's no surprise... Swedes or should I say Scadanavians take care of themselves very well. I can actually count the larger individuals I have seen in Sweden using my fingers. However they may have the looks but people from Scandanavia have no social skills or atleast 'normal' social skills that I have witnessed.

Well that's not all true, as soon as a Swede leaves Sweden they become normal social people or if you give them a shot of vodka.

If you don't believe me give it a try, offer a Swede a drink and start a random conversation. You'll see they are very normal after a little bit of courage juice.

Easy answer...in the uk anyone half decent is already in a relationship and doesn't need a dating site. Everytime he/she breaks up there is another to snap them away. Over here the good looking ones are right boring c$nts and need a dating site to find other boring c£nts...lol. Why would good looking people need a dating site . Speaks for itself...lol. God save the queen

i also think its more acceptable in these countries to do on line dating . tell anyone were i live you do it and they will think your are a right freak...sadly. I think it's good to be honest , why not . If it helps people find someone...Just wish there wasn't such a stigma in u.k. that if you use it your a wierdo, freak, damaged goods etc....or unable to get women/men the normal way...think northeners are just anti internet and anyhting that goes with it is for tw@ts ...except for porn of course...that's my 50 pence lol

I have to agree with the part about Swedish women. They are spellbinding (before the age of 40) After that is *curtains*. Ugly wrinkle ducks. About the men; well, judging from those three candidates I will have to disagree. Daniel look like the retarded cousin, the football player is a little midget and Dolph look like a sleazy las Vegas performer.

I think the swedish make a much bigger effort to keep in shape, and I think they generally have a better sense of style than the english.

Most brits live on a diet of takeaways, are over worked, under slept and often recovering from a hang over. That doesnt do much for the best of us.

I can also understand why the swedish are concidered attractive to foriegn beauties in search of a better life.

Swedes have much more to offer than pork pie gobbling brits.

I must say that if the survey was based on the people trying to join the website then it is NOT a compliment to the swedes. The compliment goes to the countries at the bottom of the list cos I think "beautiful" people are not really breakng their legs to join this dating site. Which means that if majority of the swedes joining this dating site are "beautiful" then something is wrong with their social life, communication skills, confidence..................the list goes on and on.....................im just sayin

Can I throw this in the ring .........

Beautiful people are lousy in bed ... average people are average ... less beautiful people are great in bed....

Hmmm.....blondes are generally preferred by everyone on Earth...don't know why - I prefer light brown with auburn highlights. Further, the lighter the skin tone the more desirable (again by everyone on earth - still don't know why as one would think brown would prefer brown.....).

Swedes are generally blond with fair skin. Ergo Sum they fit the worldwide category of preferred colouring. Ergo Sum they are generally more desirable.

Simple.

@social .

Yes they make an effort but so do most capital cities...if u drive half an hour in either direction from stockholm u will find some right ugly b@stards...it as if they have been banned from the city lol . Just like glasgow , i thought it would be full of mingers but the women in the centre were gorgeous ..best i've ever seen . drive out of it and they turn into .......well pretty much the same as everywhere else. they city attracts the fluff and all the rest are cast out...except for london were the englash have thrown themselves out lol. ....So not offended if based on London . I think you should visit sodertålje and look at the bog beasts...or any where that isn't stockholm or gbg .

This is no surprise to me...

In many other countries the beautiful people don't need to go onto pathetic dating websites in the hope if finding a mate. But in Sweden the males are largely breast-feeding sissies.

Submissive in the real world, these guys trawl the web looking for ways to feel better about themselves and can often be found trying to dominate foreigners from the safety of their bedrooms. There are even a few who visit this site!
09:47 November 13, 2009 by Streja
Ahhh, Södertälje, you mean the place where a majority are foreigners.
10:02 November 13, 2009 by The Traveller Returns
Have some self believe everyone. I'm an Englishman and I get mistaken for being Swedish all the time.
10:13 November 13, 2009 by spy
Why? Do you breast feed your children?
10:15 November 13, 2009 by jannestig
well remmeber this is a danish site that has gone "worldwide" so i think the bias towards scandavians is a little liek eurovision. Though its mostly true,

Had some friends over from sweden to uk where i was working that were suprised how good looking some women were "it was a student night".

But old school english i like but most british people are lucky tornados don't happpen there or the white trash drooling retards with bricks for brains would be blown out to see with the rest of the turds.

I mean even the most famous english heart throb could only get an ugly old black hooker in the usa, describes them down to their brown teeth
10:16 November 13, 2009 by DAVID T
I'm gonna start a dating site for oinkers. Swedes generally look like albino inbreeds and the men are more like women than women are. I'm sure the feminest movement in Sweden was started by men.
10:16 November 13, 2009 by jannestig
Still go out for a drink with a pom them seppo though
11:22 November 13, 2009 by peropaco
British women have to be the ugliest in Europe. You pretty much feel like crying when you come across one of them. Lest blame it on the kidney pie and fish & chips with vinegar. One need to be careful with Swedish girls as you risk getting a bad one after a few years. They are popular amongst men coming from desperate countries like Italy, Ghana, Turkey, Latin America. People from those countries tend to like girls with big rear bumpers and wide hips. Swedish girls encompasses both of those attributes. Swedish men are boring as a dead horse and they all dress the same. Gray suits, un-polished shoes with tick rubber soles and a great heap of motor oil in the hair.
13:00 November 13, 2009 by spy
And the sissies don't hold doors open for women or pick up the tabs at bars or resaurants. No longer allowed to be manly many of these guys have lost their identity and purpose in life - it's no wonder the the poor down-trodden souls are fixated with breast-feeding.
14:31 November 13, 2009 by Gwrhyr
Wow Spy, you sound pretty bitter.

I hear male breast-pumping is quite relaxing, you might want to try it to calm down a bit.
15:52 November 13, 2009 by Greg in Canada
There are a lot of good looking guys and gals in Sweden. In one word - blonde.

Although my wife is a very Scandinavian looking blonde (actually ethnic Dutch heritage), I've actually tended to find those Latino looking or some Asian gals as the most exotic.
17:16 November 13, 2009 by liveandletlive
I am surprised at how hateful most of these comments are. Who are you people with so much pent up anger? Maybe you need to find an outlet other than discussions boards to work out your frustrations.

I am particularly shocked at how crude and uneducated the British people who comment sound. That's my hateful comment. By the way, I think Swedish people are beautiful and those of you who do not, are likely jealous.
17:23 November 13, 2009 by ricenbeans
These comments are hilarious. Really, why did they pick those three guys to be the example of swedish male beauty. Guy 1 looks like he O.D.´d on botox, guy 2 looks more like a goofy little leprechaun than the paragon of beauty, and guy 3 (really? dolph lundgren?) was already dreadfully frightening looking when he didnt look like a piece of burnt leather. I vote to replace one of those men with Bert Karlsson; HE is one hot tamale.
17:34 November 13, 2009 by Merc10
@CanadianEh , you are so spot on!! I think it is not only the swedish people who lack social skills but most of the people living in the scandinavian countries.

And if you ever find those that are so social then it usually turns out to be those who have travelled the world or those that have lived abroad. They tend to also be social when they are drunk.

I used to find it so strange when i first came to Sweden ,but then i realised it's just their nature to be reserved individuals . Now i think i have got used to them.

Personally, i think most their men are rather shy compared to their ladies. About looks, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

eliteresourceagent,,, you are a total idiot.

brasilians rarely dance salsa.

brazilian men come in all shapes sizes and colors each one is different and european women seek them for the same reason latin men seek swedish women. the grass is greener .. bla bla.

closer to wild animals?? (you should travel more)
06:32 November 14, 2009 by Tutu
swedish women are pretty and i agree, i actually do not find british women attractive. Talking about swedish men they are BEAUTIFUL TOO but not HANDSOME and manly
06:39 November 14, 2009 by Tutu
i think eliteresourceagent comment is really off limit. do mean that men from those countries are wild animals or you mean to say that swedish men are sissy in those area they are supposed to be wild.
07:06 November 14, 2009 by spy
They should put the poor fellows on a testosterone replacement programme-
00:33 November 15, 2009 by Gwrhyr
They should put Spy on estrogen so he can get started on that sex-change journey he's ocviously always wanted but was too insecure to ask for.
02:41 November 15, 2009 by Nina_
Odinmp5 is right - Brazilian men come in all colours and shapes, and are usually VERY attractive. If you travel to the south of Brazil, most are blond, while in the northeast most are mulatos. In the rest of the country there are all types of people. Brazilian men are very seductive - they know exactly what to say, when and how to say it! Argentinians, English and Italians are also attractive both in looks and in attitude. I must say, however, that English men are my fav. I like their attitude, looks, and LOVE the accent.
11:45 November 15, 2009 by Bender B Rodriquez
So much animosity here for stating simple facts. It is common knowledge that British men and women are the ugliest b*tches in the world, and they are pretty daft too...

As a Welsh man (defending us Brits) I can safely say that I nor anyone I know would ever contemplate using a dating site. I'm happy to say that I do well on my own merits, I'm not conceited enough to come out and say that I am good looking (although I've never had any complaints) but I get so much attention when I'm out in Stockholm or Gothenburg from both men and women - spending a lot of time in Sweden I can see how different I am from most of the Swedish male population and I would much rather date another Brit than most of the Swedes I encounter.
09:55 November 24, 2009 by meeting42
There are a lot of free free dating services on the net but the variety is so wide that it’s easy to get lost. As for me one of the main criteria for choosing a dating service is its atmosphere. That is such sites are to have some additional services and articles, some poetry to create the right mood. I’ve recently found a very good service meeting42.com where they have love stories, a list of short romantic sms, poems and so on. That is a real romantic portal and when you come there you have a strong desire to share your romantic mood with someone. Besides they have a forum and it’s possible to chat online. I believe if you really want to find someone special that is the right way to register at such a site. Good luck to everyone who’s seeking for love.
