A Swedish man who claimed he was the son of God has been sentenced to prison in Norway for unlawful driving.

In a four month span in 2008, the 46-year-old Swede was picked up four times for driving without a licence by Norwegian police in various towns outside of the capital Oslo, the Norwegian newspaper Moss Avis reports reports.

On one occasion, the man also attempted to hide his expired registration tabs by fashioning false plates out of cardboard, but Norwegian police saw through the ruse.

The Swede defended his actions during questioning by police in the town of Moss, arguing he was Jesus, the son of God, and that he ruled the world.

As a result, the Swede argued, he didn’t need to abide by earthly driving regulations.

But the district court in Moss didn’t buy the man’s holy defence, and sentenced him to 30 days in prison and fined him 2,000 Norwegian kronor ($360).

People like this man needs to be in mental hospital or prison for atleast 1 year. So that these little criminal can forget that (Prophet Jesus) would not help him with wrong doing. He better next time go to trafficskolan and get himself a driving permit.

You see now ? Even a driver without license using the *religion* and that makes religious people name bad in the eyes of anti-religious group.

Isn't it odd that whenever anyone appears claiming that they are the son of God, no-one believes them?

It's almost as if, deep down, they know that there is no magic invisible friend who lives in the sky...

When the son of God was last on earth ... many did not believe him either..... so I am not surprised that there are still skeptics this time around.

Why dismiss the guy claim that he is Jesus?
10:29 November 17, 2009 by Thompsuleme
because he is a Twit!

But that was the same argument they used 2000 years a go. :-D

Which god?

Odin, Budda, fklying spaghetti monster.

Definately funny farm time. I assume he is booked into his own rubber room and tight fitting wrap around coat.

I think he's rather following the fashion trend of ridiculous excuses, like the other story here in Sweden, where a guy wasn't convicted of driving offences, because he claimed his imaginary friend drove the car.

Yeah, I think he was going for broke and hoping to throw whatever furniture he could into court proceedings. Claiming to be Jesus is probably the best that he could come up with for a distraction on such short notice.

Well, the guy has not performed any miracle yet. If he can turn Norwagian Oil into water, the court might have to rethink the verdict again.

"As a result, the Swede argued, he didn't need to abide by earthly driving regulations."

I'll have to remember that one and try it out on the police should I ever get another speeding ticket. :-)

Greg, I spit my water all over my screen when I saw this. I can just imagine what the cop/court employees were thinking. A cardboard license plate to fool police. This guy sounds like he should be in a subway station with a megaphone shouting about the end of the world.
08:24 November 18, 2009 by EnsamVarg
Well I don't believe he was Jesus!

Why? Because if he were Jesus he would 1. made better license plates (I mean come on, if he can turn water into wine what hardship would a license plate be). and 2. If he is the son of God he would surley be a little more respectful of the law of the land.

But I give him a plus point for his originality hahaha.

If he had used this excuse in a Swedish court the judge would probably have given him the benefit of the doubt and let him off.

Silly man. Everyone knows if you're going to commit a crime, you say your name is Mohammed.
