Elin Nordegren to spend Christmas in Sweden

Former model Elin Nordegren will visit her family in Sweden over the holidays along with her two children, while husband Tiger Woods is retreating to the Bahamas on his private yacht named 'Privacy'.

Although the couple will be spending the holidays apart, Elin reportedly will not immediately file for divorce, but said she has been especially upset by the sheer number of affairs by her husband and two particularly painful relationships, reported celebrity website TMZ.

Tiger Woods, who turns 34 next week, launched his yacht from Palm Beach for the Bahamas at the weekend, with People magazine quoting an unidentified friend as saying that the golf star faced a deeply unhappy time ahead.

"He's devastated at everything he has lost," the magazine quoted the source as saying. "He will go through some dark times. It's going to be a lonely Christmas for him."

Both People magazine and the Palm Beach Post newspaper reported the Bahamas as the supposed destination for the yacht named "Privacy".

Woods has admitted cheating on wife Elin and at least 14 women, one for every major golf crown he has won, have claimed to have had affairs with the world's first billionaire sportsman.

Sponsors have backed away from Woods and comedians have made him the punch line for jokes. Woods has put his golf career on hold indefinitely to work on his personal woes.

People also reported that Elin, a Swedish model whom Woods married in 2004, will take the couple's two children with her to Sweden.

Eilin Nordegren was reportedly most upset about a three-year relationship Woods maintained with one woman and that he was with another woman while she herself was pregnant.

People also reported that Tiger's Thai-born mother, Kultida Woods, was "hurt, angry and disappointed" in her son, according to an unnamed source close to the family.

"She wants to know how he could do this to his family," People reported the source said. "She loves him and will support him through anything but she needs some time to work through this. It was devastating to her.

"She likes Elin, adores her grandchildren. She's worried about them. She doesn't want to see them hurt."

Possible avenues for golf star Woods making a return to the public were reported even as book deals for examinations of Woods's fall from grace were said to be in the works.

MSNBC's Courtney Hazlett said sources close to Woods indicated he might appear on the January 9th edition of Saturday Night Live, which is to be hosted by a friend of Woods, retired basketball star Charles Barkley.

"He's a little incredulous at the way he is being judged," MSNBC quoted the source as saying. "If he went on SNL, it would definitely change the conversation."

The NBC network late-night comedy show spoofed Woods three weeks ago and two weeks ago aimed a parody at US PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, mocking how he might defend events as interest and sponsorship dim without Woods.

Woods is also being sought by Hollywood director Todd Phillips for his sequel to "The Hangover", according to website Hollyscoop. Filming for the new movie is set to begin in about six months for a 2011 release.

"We are going to try and get Tiger Woods for the second one... Yeah, help him regain his image," the site quoted Phillips as saying.

Tiger, you made the right choice. It is a no brainer. Dark, cold, slippery-slope, depressive long faces in Sweden VS. Bahamas where the sun is shining and people are friendly all year long.
09:25 December 22, 2009 by salalah
Totally agree...

Please let me come and stay with you in Bahamas, Tiger..

You seem to be a lot more exciting than I thought...

When they said a frigid cold front was coming to Sweden this Christmas I thought they were talking about the weather.
10:13 December 22, 2009 by sasha79
There are a lot of crisis going on in the world... but the Swedish media of all possible sort is so bothered about Tiger Woods, his mistresses and his wife... she is just nobody in Sweden who became somebody in US because of her marriage to a very talented sportsman...

Get over it... move on to a story of better importance... who cares where they spend the holidays...
11:28 December 22, 2009 by Beynch
Good for her! She should enjoy her white Christmas in Sweden. In the the meantime I'm sure Woods will enjoy a white pancake waitress or two, as he seems to have a knack for. In the meantime I'm sure Barbro Holmberg's daughter has put her lawyers to work, to squeeze him for every cent he's got! And when that's done turn him upside down and shake out any loose change from his pockets. As for Woods, he's finished! No more Nike or American Express with his face gracing their commercials. The world will be a better place without this ethically challenged philanderer, who is also an unfit parent, based on media reports. You golfers will have to find someone else to idolize. This one is history.

The problem would be different if Tiger Woods was Iranian.

12:41 December 22, 2009 by LailaC1
If you don't like it, why don't you go back home seeing that you're too exciting for Swedish people!

No doubt Tiger is on his yacht in the Bahamas sipping cocktails, wondering what to do next and entertaining a whole load of ladies in "Privacy" :-) Meanwhile Elin and the kids are wading through the snow and -10 degrees, eating meatballs and in a quiet remote forest somewhere. Just a guess! :-) Had to laugh about the comment above "a cold frigid front approaching Sweden and it's not the weather" :-)

Elin will be hangin with her buddies the rain deers somewhere near Sorseles..

"Get over it... move on to a story of better importance... who cares where they spend the holidays... "

Like in the states where everyone is obsessed by a married pair of morons who are famous because they had a reality show based on their litter of 8 children? Tiger & Elin is infinitely more interesting than Jon & Kate.

@david t

Please enlighten me: exactly how is Elin spending xmas in Sweden going to affect you? Her level of dullness should, as far as I can see, have no bearing on your quality of life whatsoever.

@peropaco

I'm sure Elin has many more friends and supporters than you will ever have, judging from the continuous stream bile you spew onto these forums. Oh, and it is Sorsele by the way.

This Swedish sellout strikes me as a non-story, reaping what she's sown. Perhaps she'll find the money worth it, perhaps not. She's merely the least bad in the cast of bad actors in this sordid play - and far from being an innocent victim.

I cant believe some of the guys that write on these tiger/chettah threads have had unsuccessful relationships, they seem such well adjusted people.

Oh great. that means she's coming to Gavle....
17:48 December 22, 2009 by Cherylwilla
I've looked at many pictures of Tiger and Elin together and have yet to see one where he doesn't look bored or distracted. One picture is worth a thousand words....

Beautiful and sweet woman. He had it all and didn't appreciate it. I hope she takes everything he has. Oh, and exercises better judgement when next selecting a mate.

May I remind you that many Swedish people, especially young women, like to spend a year in an English-speaking country working as an au pair/nanny in order to improve their English. This does not necessarily mean they then choose to work in that profession for the rest of their lives. Nor does it mean that they have an ulterior motive (to snare a wealthy husband).

Having said that, in the UK, where I live, nannies earn in excess of £33k per year, and are perceived as true professionals, rather than as gold-digging, second-class citizens to be sneered at.

So, I think it is time you let go of this judgemental, cynical, and fundamentally unattractive attitude. After all, I can't recall Elin ever using her husband's fame to draw attention to herself in any way. Can you? If so, please remind me.

By the way, if you do a youtube search on nina pretty ballerina all shall be revealed.

It's a tough choice; Sweden or Miami, FLA.

Gotta be some reason for playing on the nineteenth hole instead of goin' home.

Welcome home, Elin.

What do you expect when you marry an ugly guy for his money??

Golddigger!!! welcome home, get the cash out for the taxman...

@ Beynch

Ethically challenged philanderer? Oh, you have to thoroughly explain this one.

As an Australian that has migrated to Sweden, I dare say that I have noticed that the cold and seemingly inescapable winters make these blog posts even more exceedingly volatile in nature. Try to grow up people and get some happiness in your lives quickly.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Down Under in spirit :)
16:36 December 23, 2009 by Sheila Craig
Oh dear! I had to laugh...'Tiger faces a lonely time ahead' you really cannot be seriios....it will really just be a question of which of the Gold diggers gets there first.
22:59 December 26, 2009 by Hagen
It must have been a massive shock for Mrs. Woods to learn that her husband had been fooling around with so many other low class women.

The risk of Mr. Woods catching some nasty disease is very high and I am sure her first thought was to go and get tested for venereal disease, AIDS, etc in case he passed it on to her.

By the way, was he really christened as ,' Tiger',?? also if he was plain old ,' Jo Bloe' , without the millions, would any decent looking woman give him a second look ?
