Maybe now some of the male judges might actually hear that rape is not a lesser crime.
Politics is not like mathematics, there is not right or wrong per se, but only mediation between opposing interests and the decision to privilege some instead of others.
So if this country decides that both genders must be represented in the court, then this is what's going to happen regardless of "qualifications".
It is male sexism such as yours, that has kept the highest quality judges from these posts.
Also there is nothing wrong with being liberal. Liberal has a different meaning in Europe to that which it has morphed into in the USA. Look up the word in a dictionary and you will see what I mean.
The fact that I was trying to explain you why these things may happen it doesn't mean that I endorse them in any situation.
On the other hand a supreme court, similarly to the parlament, should represent the spirit of a country, which means that cultural background should be considered as important as the perfect knowledge and practice of constitutional law, which I assume is your only criterium. The composition of the US supreme court goes in the same direction.
