Broadband speeds in Sweden are quicker than in any other European country bar Romania.

But South Korea remains light years ahead in the global internet stakes, according to internet service provider Akamai's 'The State of the Internet' report tracking download speeds across the globe for the third quarter of 2009.

Sweden clinched second spot in Europe with an average broadband speed of 5.7 Mbps, behind Romania which stayed on top with 6.2 Mbps.

However, broadband speeds in Europe pale in comparison to averages clocked in Asia. South Korea leads the pack by quites some distance with average speeds of 14.6 Mbps, followed by Japan with 7.6 Mbps.

Unless you have the misfortune to have BLIXTVIK as your ISP.

7 weeks connection, 2 periods of 2 week outages, regular weekend outages, regular overnight outages with no support between 17:00 and 08:00. Don't even consider them.

which provider here in Sweden is the fastest?
10:19 January 16, 2010 by Nemesis
Now Sweden needs to seriously look at becoming first in Europe, then becoming fastest on the entire planet.

In Japan some people actually have gigabit lines with ten gigabit lines having just been announced and plans for a trial for terabyte lines in the next few years have just been announced.

Sweden is doing very well in this area and should strive to become world leader in this area of technology.

I have conhem. Once every two days the signal disappears for an hour or two. My two year contract with them will soon be up and I intend to change to another privider. According to my neighbours Telia is OK in my area.

I bet this is for download only, and not upload.

Whenever internet speed is discussed, unless otherwise stated, the discussed speed is the download speed.

Give the deals to ericsson instead of chinese ''huawei'' and i am sure what nemesis says would happen.

We have ISPs who use huawei technology in India and its terribly slow

Guys, don't use Comhem or the other operators who will give your private data (IPRED anyone)?

Use Tele 2, Bahnhof or one of the other operators which protect your privacy.

It is possible to get gigabit broadband in a few places in Sweden. For example, Bredband2 and Blixtvik offers 1000/100 Mbit to a few of the houses in the area where I live. I will cost about 1000 kr per month though.

Sweden must be on number one by providing more broadband speed than romania ..

Some day, all TV will be via the Internet. Some day, one in five humans will be able to contact each other, via the Internet. Someday, the current disaster in Haiti and the future disaster in Bangladesh and Central Asia, will invovle people we converse, via the Internet, with instant translation between all languages.

At that time, our friends will tell us what they had to do to survive floodings, earthquakes and fires and, instead of craying in despair we´ll be happy for their survival, even a temporary one. And, we will be on our way to the Global Village.

"The ice dripped in the winter sun. It was the first day when the light had been intense enough to cause dripping in the sunlight. To hear it was an extraordinary wakeup call.
