A 17-year old girl was convicted on Tuesday for an egg attack on the leader of the far-right Sweden Democrat party, Jimmie Åkesson, during a rally by the party in Linköping in central Sweden last May.

The girl, who was ordered to pay 10,000 kronor ($1,400) in compensation to Åkesson as well as a court fine, said that the attack was not personal.

"A couple of guys explained that there were Nazis in town and they put me up to throwing the eggs. It was not directed at Jimmie Åkesson," she told local newspaper Östgöta Correspondenten.

"I regret doing it. It was a really impulsive act."

The attack took place during the tumult caused by police attempts to break up a rowdy counter demonstration against the Sweden Democrats rally.

"I suddenly felt something hit my neck and then I received another blow and my glasses flew off," said Åkessson, adding that the incident had left him shaken and more inclined to look over his shoulder.

There is very little news value in this story. It does show though, the left's, and its media auxiliaries', propensity to resort to egg throwing, when their demands, howls, and shrieks do not generate responses to their liking. Civility was never one of the left's dominant traits.

Good shot by that girl.

Ok then. What a mindless sheep/ How can you throw eggs at someone just because someone tells you to?
23:15 January 19, 2010 by RoyceD
I know it is expensive to live in Sweden but 10,000 for an egg. Wow, I'll think twice aobut ordering an omelet.

Seriously though I would have thrown a brick.

Same old BS. The "right" are not Nazis. Both the Nazis and the Communists were/are LEFTISTS! They are BOTH socialists. Get it through your heads, dummkopfs. Capitalist democracies have NEVER, EVER made war on each other or any one else (without provocation), nor have they engaged is mass executions. Twits.

wxman, hope trowbridge doesn't read this as far as he is concerned both WW's were started by the capitalists to ensure that the facists didn't destroy their power.

its over its very late , no option left, you!ll have to face immigrants everyday, the battle is lost and wait for few years Sweden to be America part 2.

The Nazis were in town, she is the Nazi.

It is the one telling someone they cannot express their opinion that is the Nazi, not the one stating the facts as they see them.

I am for free speach, but I would congratulate this girl. SD are not democrats and want to deny equal rights to those with a different skin colour to them. Never forget that Adolf Hitler was democratically elected, but that does not justify his actions. Like Adolf Hitler or Slobadan Milosivic, people who spout racism and/or nationalism should be roundly condemmed.

And now for Beynch to spout his racism and anti-left (or anything left of nationalism) propaganda.

10,000:- for hitting someone (a Neo-Nazi) with an egg?!

In England you'd get fined less than that for nearly killing someone!
11:29 January 20, 2010 by Beynch
@Glempa. Yes, you are correct. I am virulently ant-left. But I am not a racist. I want you to promise me one thing, please do not ever use the word 'Hitler" ever again in your cokmmentary. Thank you.
11:51 January 20, 2010 by Glempa
@Beynch: I was not calling you Hitler this time, I was referring to how Hitler was democraticaly elected, and the dangers of not standing up to people who are a threat to basic fundamental rights, even if free-speech is enshrined in the constitution.

Slobadan Milosevic is still regarded as a hero to many in Serbia, despite all the human right abuses, ethnic cleansing, rape centres, mass murders, etc., because he made Serbian people feel great and they believe they are a superior race to the rest of europe (including swedes like yourself). George W Bush used nationalism to get support from the american people for his illegal war in Iraq. Anyone inside or outside USA who criticised american foreign policy were seen as traitors or just ant-american

Such nationalism is a crime, which is based on biggotry, racism and ignorance, and the SD fall into this category!
13:02 January 20, 2010 by Beynch
@Glempa: And this justifies an egg attack? Does civility and decorum mean anything any longer? Was the, apopleptic, egg-throwing witch so full of copious ignorance that she could not come up with a verbal retort?

Thanks for pointing out what everyone should know. The Nazis were birthed on the left and suckled on the teet of Socialism.

You can disagree with someone political view but to retorting to attacking someone and throwing eggs is highly unnecessary.
22:41 January 20, 2010 by Tasaar
"I regret doing it. It was a really impulsive act." people like her should be in mental hospital. She clearly isn't capable of controlling herself if she throws eggs at people because someone "tells her to"

Go Sweden Democrats by the way

The girls sounds like a moron who has no idea of how to think for herself.

"The Nazis were in town, she is the Nazi.

You are so right on this. Part of living in a free country is listening to opinions that you don't agree with at times. You need to be able to do that in a respectful way no matter where you lie on the political line. If someone can't state what they believe to be true without fear of an attack or censorship then they aren't really free.

Åkesson should be happy he got recognition, he is now in the list of well known people who have been egged

His Nazi mate Nick Griffin of the BNP

John 'two jags' Prescott

Arnold Schwarzenegger

David Blaine

The fine that this girl got was heavier than those of the eggers of the other famous people
