The time it takes for it to develop a new cellphone. With that time comes great costs. 4 to 5 years from idea to market is too long.
The top producers in Asia can take a new cellphone idea and get it to market in 6 months to a year.
The Second Point is with their long development cycles comes strategies that are outdated.
People want an appliance to be their identity. The most obvious choice is a cell phone...one to open their car doors, change the channel on their tv, pay for their groceries. Something universal, something ubiquitous. Sony is a long way off from being there.
