A 37-year-old British citizen has been arrested in Sweden after staff on a Ryanair plane claimed they spotted him secretly filming their security procedures.

Cabin crew on the plane said the suspect, a British man resident in Stockholm, had been attempting to secretly film security procedures on board a flight that left Stansted in London on Monday night.

Staff quickly alerted police to their suspicions of air traffic sabotage. Officers were in place to arrest the suspect on his arrival at Skavsta airport south of Stockholm at 1am.

The suspect was released at 11.30am but the suspicions against him remain, according to police in Nyköping.

"We'll now have a look to see if he was just filming things that everybody already knows about, like locating emergency exits and putting on safety belts, or whether it was something else," police investigator Svante Melin told The Local on Tuesday morning.

Police were unable to say if or when they were planning to make contact with the members of Ryanair staff who reported the incident.

Wait, Ryanair has security procedures? When did this happen and are you charged for them? Those that don't pay the security fee are left to blow up in the plane.

What is so secret about it? I mean, it is kind of funny, but other than that... Do you have to pay copyright now? The stuff they do in order to get some sort of Marketing amazes me... Must be one of the first enterprises which want to be NOT taken seriously... Unless... Maybe they are so afraid of the crap they show, that they really don't want anybody else to know about it...

I"m guessing they suspected he might be planning to highjack a plane in the future. I doubt this was his first flight so he wasn't filming for memorable purposes.

I believe the cameramen got executed for this as a minimum sentence ...

Ryanair is crazy about pictures, however! Once, in Skavsta, I took out my camera, walking from the airplane to the arrivals hall, to take a picture of the ariplane on the snow, with a wonderful red sunset... and they immediately run after me, very upset, telling me to put it away! Maybe they are afraid about copyright... they sell pictures of their own naked flight assistants... now they will start to sell pictures of their naked... aircraft!

It's not a good idea to film inside any aircraft of any airline unless you have permission. Currently, all airlines in all countries have enough security issues to deal with that affect both their operations and ability to remain profitable.

The fact that he was "secretly" filming security procedures obviously made the cabin crew nervous. Even if he meant no harm by his actions, he was pushing his luck and his credibility. Aviation enthusiasts usually use common sense when considering what they photograph. There are limits to be considered.

Leave the camera in the bag until you are out of the airport. Once in Stockholm, there are many opportunities to photograph wonderful scenery, the archipelagos being a perfect example.

Just use common sense. Works every time.

I'm sure Ryanair has secuity procedures. They are missing one thing. Profiling.

However, now that the information about some special security procedures is public, I expect everyone taking a Ryanair flight to keep both eyes open... to find out what kind of secret procedures do they have!

Sadly, this world has gotten very messed up in terms of terrorists. Yes, taking pics of the tarmac might be going a bit far, but Sweden doesn't want to have the same problems we in the States have... nothing wrong with that. Heck, before 9/11, I could sit in the concourse and be close enough to see the passcode the stewardesses and staff used to open the door to the jetway...
