The investigation into the 1986 assassination of Swedish prime minister Olof Palme is to remain open indefinitely after the parliament passed a bill on Wednesday abolishing the statute of limitations for crimes of a particularly serious nature.

With a time limit for murder indictments currently set at 25 years, the search for Palme's killer had been due to come to an end in 2011.

But on Wednesday Sweden's parliament passed a bill exempting certain crimes from the statute of limitations. these include murder, manslaughter, human rights violations, genocide and terrorism. The new legislation comes into effect on July 1st this year.

As the new law will apply retroactively, murders committed by adult perpetrators in the last quarter century and onwards no longer have an expiry date for prosecution.

Olof Palme was shot dead on a main Stockholm thoroughfare on the evening of February 28th 1986 while walking home from a visit to the cinema.

Petty thief Christer Pettersson was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1988 for the murder after being identified as the killer by Palme's wife, Lisbet. He was later released on appeal.

No other suspect has ever been brought to trial in the case.

The hypocricy of the left is always mindblowing. How can any Swedish person of sound mind, and sense of fairness and democracy, say anything good about OP? He is in no small measure the cause of the failed multicultural cauldron Sweden is today. He was an unforgiving, bleary-eyed, intensely fanatical, marxist living in a socialist delusional world, which hopefully never again will be attempted as an acceptable life form. OP had his mind set on an orwellian social system. He absolutely detested anything even remotely smacking of free enterprise and, had he had his way, would have the State (capital 'S') controlling every aspect of personal life, and all means of production. Certainly the media. By all means, keep his case open, find the real killer, but do not mourne his absence from Swedish government.

For the record:

There is a myth in Turkey that seperatist group, PKK, killed Olof Palme. I mean when you grab a person in street, after some ABBA talks, everyone says "Oh, PKK killed him."

That's just a record, imho, whoever murdered such a good person; Olof Palme must have life time prisonment.

Do a little digging and I'm sure involvement of the Central Intelligence Agency or the Mossad, or both, will not be too far below the surface.
19:35 February 3, 2010 by nevon
Benych, you sound like a fair and impartial person of sound and unbiased opinion. I value your opinions on this matter greatly and believe they are representative of all reasonable people.

On an unrelated note, I have a mental image of NUTS in my mind now. A big basket of fresh NUTS. I'm not sure why.

Thanks guys for your support. I just tried to post a long response about the most dangerous plot of the Cold War - what could easily gotten us all incinerated if it had not been for the spying and countermeasure adopted by the Soviets - but it all disappeared because I was not on line.

Still, I have returned here, and am trying to post this in the hope of raising public awareness about the involvement of apparent assassin Captain Simon Hayward, US Navy Secretary John Lehman, Reagan NSA Admiral John Poindexter, KMS chief Major David Walker, the Mossad in supplying fallguy the 'mad Austrian' apparently aka Josef Fritlz, Säpo reserve fallguy Stig Bergling, etc., in the most dangerous operation of the Cold War.

And the inquiry of this assassination is most appropriate in light of other murders that have occurred, those of WMD inspector Dr. David Kelly and former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook - and what Sir John Chiclcot, the leading agent in the cover up of the Palme assassination, is now covering up in London.

It's now or never for uncovering the totally unnecessary and cruel killing of Palme, whatever anyone thinks about him personally.

nevon: You're too nice calling me impartial. I'm very much partial. Unbiased? I certainly have my biases. But what about "nuts"? Embellish will you?
20:59 February 3, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Sorry for the omíssions and mistakes in my previous post, but I was hurrying to make sure it was posted before the securocrats rendered me yet again off line.

In the ranks of the leading plotters of Palme's assassination, I should never have overlooked the roles of Ollie North, the President's personal operator, connecting all the leading players inspite of all the bureaucrat probems, and the MI6 people, especially the MI6 director, who supplied Hayard for the mission after CIA proved unable to recruit a professional assassin or a retired special forces person to do the assassination.

And the person who diverted the Stalker pursuit of Hayward et al. was John Chilcot, the head of the Home Officer police department who claimed that Stalker was involved with Hayward and his brother, Christopher, in criminal drug smuggling, what Simon went to prison for two and one half years here in Sweden for allegedly doing.
21:15 February 3, 2010 by Beynch
@Trowbridge: You should stick to writing fantasy spy novels in the vein of Ian Fleming, or John LeCarré. You'd be good at it. SSU-Darling Führer Palme got hit because Swedes were sickened by his leninist left-leaning dictatorial antics, and were yearning for freedom. I don't think North, CIA or MI6 were interested in this self-serving, power hungry, insignificant mouse that roared. OP was a comic book charicature of himself.
21:21 February 3, 2010 by wxman
The CIA has far more important things to do than concern themselves with an effin socialist Swede. Get over yourselves; you're just not that important.
21:26 February 3, 2010 by sissygirl
Since I was 12 years old and living in the US when all this occurred, my opinion may not mean anything BUT the man was murdered. A murder should not be dropped because the criminal was smart enough to get away for 25 years. Even if OP was a Marxist.
21:30 February 3, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Was Palme an insignificant mouse or the SSU-Darling Fuhrer, Beynich?

Your contradictions are manifest, so something big must have been afoot when Palme was asssassinated - something far bigger than Iam Fleming et al. could ever handle.

It was so big that the Swedes won't touch it, as my correspondence to Lars Nylen, PM Göron Persson, Justice Minister Thomas Bodström, etc. ad nauseam has more than amply demonstrated.

It's all just a pathetic, obvious coverup.
23:22 February 3, 2010 by Traveler2010
"The CIA has far more important things to do than concern themselves with an effin socialist Swede. Get over yourselves; you're just not that important."

Wxman, I am an American. I think it's important not to be naive about what the CIA is capable of. You have to think like the CIA. The CIA thinks the entire world is their oyster and they have the God-given right to manipulate everything and anything in any way they deem appropriate. Nothing is off the table, there are no rules (other than don't get caught).

I think the agents of the CIA who are trained to do this sort of thing would take great, great professional pride in having the privilege of being involved in an operation of this magnitude. They took out a foreign Head of State. That's a real feather in their cap in their world.

@Beynch

"The hypocricy of the left is always mindblowing. How can any Swedish person of sound mind, and sense of fairness and democracy, say anything good about OP? He is in no small measure the cause of the failed multicultural cauldron Sweden is today".

You are not only an extreme right wing nut, but you are also unbelievably dumb. So you think it was ok for a man to be killed because you do not agree with his policy?

I would have more respect for you if you would come out and say what you really are. No respect for you when you hide sane people and act like one. Hope you are keeping your hOOd clean? Tell me what you think about immigrants and the failed apartheid regime. While you are at it,please try to make a case for the influence of immigrants on the situation of Saab and Volvo.

How could you not understand when someone calls you out for what you are? What Nevon did was that he deplomatically called you a nut. Do you now get the message? After saying you were impartial, he began to have the image of Nuts in his head. lol. Do you still need someone to Embellish your stupid mind? Assuming you have a mind.
00:48 February 4, 2010 by Beynch
@Buccaneer: You're attributing things to me that I did not say. A classic left wing tactic. Read my comments again It is you and your ilk in the media who has created a situation where you can no longer believe what you read. I'm just no fan of Palme and what he did to Sweden. And I did not defend his assasination. I said "..find the real killer..". But thanks for the explanation of "nut". Now I know. Do you really think I'm "stupid"? Or do you simply not agree with me. That's what's called democracy. Thankfully we still have the opportunity to express diverging opinions, something OP did his best to put an end to.

Sigh...anyone really interested in should go to:

and see the long list of people who *claimed* to have done it as disparate as the Red Army Faction and Apartheid elements out of South Africa........

I personally think the mistaken identity scenario makes as much sense as any...the World is an ironic place....................

The case should be kept open. Let's just hope it gets solved someday.

Oh, my god Trowbridge.

Run, run now and get your prize of 50 million SEK because you uncovered the real culprits! I hope that the Local Mossad agents will not be able to remove your posts too fast! I have also heard that a certain South African person (ex-recce) is sitting outside your apartment in a car. Do not look! Do not look... Slowly look outside through the mirror...

You will make it if you will take the back door...

Oops, sorry, is it medication time now? I will not bother you and the sweet nurse. Yes, and the computer is for EVERYBODY on the floor, remember?

Uncle,

Hilarious. 50 million SEK will buy a lot of tin foil for Trowbridge's helmets.
11:51 February 4, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Can you guys ever get serious about anything?

I don't want any money, only see that the terrible assassination which would have resulted in a nuclear war if it had not been for KGB spying, and Soviet countermeasures is solved.

If it is in the way I think it should, I shall happily donate all the money to cleaning up what our neo-Nazis have done with their earthquakes in Iran, Turkey, Pakinstan, China, the Indian Ocean tsunamis, and now in Haiti.
12:32 February 4, 2010 by don't know what to say
...whoever did it really achieved something,to destroy not only a man's life,an important person anyway, but also to destroy a hope for a better world...I wish that this question will be some day cleared up even if I am not very optimistic about it.It could be that one day this question is discovered because Palme was a symbolic personality and his dissapearence apart from awaking all kind of speculations really brings an historic end of a historic movement, in some way.The european left had an orientation with him...and his lost means that...a lose of orientation in a world wich converges into so called neoliberal ideas and pragmatism...if that was the right way, everyone decides on himself(sorry herself as well).
13:20 February 4, 2010 by Uncle
Now, now Trowbridge.

I can see that the red pill was not swallowed again... Didn't we talk about it? Remember what happened the last time you did not want to swallow it because it makes you drowsy?

Remember how lonely it was in the CIA prison after your failed attempt to rescue some prisoners from Guantanomo, who were not Taliban, but high ranking Contras who turned on US? Remember how Fidel himself got you out by agreeing to step off? How did it feel then? Mmm?

And the time before that, when you had to shoot Kennedy because he was actually an alien agent? Remember how scared you were when transported to Alpha Centauri?

No arguments... Please take the pill and go to sleep...
13:34 February 4, 2010 by calebian22
I am serious about alot of things, just not nutter conspiracies.

Here is some free advice. If you see a conspiracy everywhere you look, don't be surprised when no one takes you seriously.
15:28 February 4, 2010 by StuartM
It certainly seems most plausible to me that it was some sort of right-wing plot, either by the CIA/MI6, some neo-nazi maniac or a contract killing paid for by some wealthy member of the Swedish business elite. But that's of course pure speculation and I doubt we'll ever know for sure what happened.

What's clear though is that Palme was an extremely courageous, outspoken individual who represented a sort of idealism that is sadly lacking in much of today's politics. He was never silent when people were being exploited or oppressed anywhere in the world and worked ceaselessly to build a more just and equitable Sweden for all.

There's a collection of his speeches translated into English here: http://www.olofpalme.org/en/documents-in-various-languages

"We believe in democracy because a democratic system of government, in spite of all its shortcomings, provides an active participation and an everyday consideration of the individual which no despotism can ever dream of ever achieving. But democracy must never imply resistance against national liberty and social justice. It should be a road leading to the liberation of people. We do not wish to have a future where the rich, with the aid of force and oppression, shall guard their privileges. We want to have a world of equality in which everyone can live".
16:44 February 4, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Just more disinformation from you, calenbian22.

I don't write about all kinds of matters because I'm not interested in them.

I only write about conspiracies when I apparently find them, especially because the established media acts as if they hardly ever take place in national and international politics when, in act fact, they quite often do.

Have CIA stop engaging in conspiracies like the ones which assassinated JFK, MLK, RFK, George Wallace, OP, etc., ad nauseam, and I'll stop writing about it.

Etc.

Etc.

Etc.
17:33 February 4, 2010 by calebian22
trowbridge,

I called you a tinfoil helmet wearing nutter. Anyone who has followed your posts knows that this is not disinformation. Crazy makes me laugh though, so please don't go away.
18:31 February 4, 2010 by sissygirl
Um, George Wallace didin't die until 1998.
20:16 February 4, 2010 by Uncle
He meant William Wallace - the rebel scot from the 12th century. CIA conspired to kill him too with the help of Mossad. Luckily Trowbridge's correspondence with the king of England has stopped a total massacre of Scots.
20:18 February 5, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
If you jokesters would only go to the trouble of learning basic English, you would know that to assassinate not only means to murder but also to destroy viciously - i. e., what the assassination of Governor George Wallace by the CIA's William King Harvey achieved with the help of the rest of Dick Nixon's Plumbers.

Wallace was simply a political vegetable after they had Arthur 'Manchurian Candidate' Bremer gun him down in Milwaukee.
03:29 February 6, 2010 by Davey-jo
Wonderful country, Sweden!
07:39 February 6, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Had hoped that you disinformation agents would have corrected my last post, but since you haven't and I am online to read a personal message, I shall myself.

Arthur Bremer shot Governor George Wallace in Maryland after he had been stalking him for awhile. It was after the shooting that the FBI's Mark Felt agreed to a personal request by Tricky Dick himself to cover up the whole conspiracy for the White House, making the Woodward and Bernstein claim that Felt was 'Deep Throat' completely false.

'Deep Throat' was Al Haig, who thought it was okay to assassinate traitors like JFK, MLK and RFK, but not looney politicians like Wallace, especially by a sitting President.

William King Harvey's Plumbers at set up shop in Milwaukee to program Bremer, who lived there, to shoot either Wallace or Nixon, and guess what, he only got the chance to shoot Wallace, several times! Their presence in Milwaukee was best illustrated by their secretary in the Executive Office Building, Kathleen Chenow, moving shop to the Wisconsin city, so that they could better coordinate what they were doing.

Little wonder that when the Watergate scandal broke open that John Dean and Fred Fielding went wild to make sure that she kept quiet about everything, and she did. For more on this, see All the President's Men, p. 215ff.

Isn't the United States a beautiful country? It can kill anyone it wants with impunity!
01:13 February 7, 2010 by veryprocanadian
They'll never close this case. Either they had the right guy all along, or the killer has vanished. Forget it. Very sad, what happened to Mr. Palme. So is the fact that murder had a statute of limitations. Never heard of that before...
19:57 February 8, 2010 by conboy
The failure of the Swedish police to carry out a proper forensic examination of the murder scene, the presence od Swedish police with links to the Nordiska Rikspartiet in a vehicle not far from the murder and their accquaintanceship with the man produced as a patsy in the shape of Christer Pettersson is the single biggest indication of local interest in the murder. The discrepancy between the autopsy and the reports of the emergency doctors who admitted Palme to hospital and tried to save his life is another. The subsequent Swedish inquiries under Hans Holmer and Ebbe Carlsson confirm the view that court clowns were given all the resources they required on a nod and wink basis to pursue a bogus investigation. How more effective way of intimidating potential witnesses while at the same time tiring out public opinion on the subject. The murder of Palme was premeditated - it was a conspiracy as it requirted control over the streets of Stockholm something only sections of the Swedish security forces could guarantee - the public silence of almost all public figures concerning this disgrace speaks volumes for what took place and what has not been confronted. The decision to allow the case to remain open indicates at least at this late stage that there are still politicians and officials in high office who understand the threat to Swedish democrarcy the murder represented as well as it's incredibly clumsy cover-up.
08:56 February 9, 2010 by johnnyrebel
When someone asks me...Who is your favorite Swede?...I dont hesitate to say OLOF PALME. A politician, but a rare one. Educated in the US at university in Ohio, hitchhiked across the US and carried on an ongoing discussion with Walter Reuther of the UAW. He was thusly influenced by the great divide between the riches and the masses which had a great influence on his being and his pursuit of justice and the truth. A powerful influence at the UN...when he spoke everyone listened. A devote opponent to the Vietnam War. He loved to play tennis.

Speaking of truth...Trowbridge, speaking the truth in todays world is a revolutionary act. Not that any of us can truly know the truth because that kind of info is restricted. Most of the morons will settle for...truthiness, flatout lies or even pure fantasy. Usually the TV or the newspaper is enough to pacify them.
15:27 February 9, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
I generally agree, johnnyrebel, but the Palme assassination is such an unsolved can-of-worms that it just cannot go on the way it is, with even the leading British official of their cover up of the murder, Sir John Chilcot, involved in the ongoing process, why the Anglo-Americans finally decided to take out Saddam Hussein, come what may.

This was after London had supplied the apparent assassin, Captain Simon Hayward, and the Americans had provided a fallguy, Stig Bergling, and the Mossad, it seems, another, the 'mad Austrian - Josef Fritzl - just in case it proved necessary.

Then when no one was convicted of the crime, leading suspect Viktor Gunnarsson was murdered in North Carolina, and then a few years ago Christer Pettersson died under most suspicious circumstances.

And then my handler, working to put the blame on CIA by stating that the Agency's Charles Morgan tried to recruit him to kill Palme, gave me a copy of the book by Jan Bondeson, Blood on the Snow, dismissing same as the fabrication of a "swindler and habitual liar" (p. 76), and I responded that it was just a crude ploy to give it an abili for the assassination, he was then obliged to kill me twice, as I have already discussed.

When the Americans, Brits or Mossad finally pull it off, won't people be obliged to take my contentions seriously?

P. S. Thanks, conboy, for your very strong post, what I never expected, and didn't see until now.
21:57 February 9, 2010 by conboy
Well my spelling could have been a lot better and I tend to still believe that the murder was carried out primarily by people who are Swedes something I know you primarily don't buy into. However having said that the lifting of the statute of limitations on the murder indicates that at least one of us have not been wasting our time. What fascinates me is who in the current Government Beatrice Ask? or which civil servants favour the prospect of a successful investigation and why now? Many Moderates were overjoyed privately at the Palme murder at the time and perhaps have subsequently sobered up now when they see the residual marker it has left both in terms of the future as well as historically. As for the the Brit/US Intel community their record speaks for itself but the convenience of the Gunnarsson/Cedengren/Tingström Baseball Liga aka Norrmalms piket styrka with their political enthusiasms still resonates most strongly in the context of the murder. Still I could be wrong however what I am convinced of is that the Swedish public were sold a pup and it has left a frightened society and a less democratic one in it's wake.
10:17 February 10, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Don't see any problem, conboy, if your suspicions turn out to be right. I just want some kind of convincing explanation for OP's assassination - what seems a long way off, especially if Viktor Gunnarsson did it, particularly since he too has been assassinated.

There are just too many evidences of a foreign conspiracy for one to take seriously that it was simply a home-grown one - e. g., Jovan von Birchan being asked by Charles Morgan aka Felipe Vidal to kill Palme twice for the CIA, Säpo's tapping of the phones of the KGB residence in the Soviet Embassy and its Ambassador's apartment in Solna in anticipation apparently of a Soviet hit, the planned flight of Stig Bergling in the hope that he could be made to look like the assassin, the hope afterwards that the 'mad Austrian' could be fitted up for the crime, the regular reassessment of Swedish bodyguards for the King, Justice Minister, and statsminister apparently taking place as it had covertly established a monitoring point outside Palme's apartment in the Old Town, many witnesses noticing it and apparent undercover operators stalking the statsminister, the assassination hopefully triggering a Soviet response in the Barents Sea, Baltic and Black Seas which US and NATO attack submarines would punish most severely for the apparent surprise, US Navy Secretary John Lehman was a close friend of Ollie North who was running the mission, and former SAS Major David Walker's KMS, Ltd, which was doing the bodyguard reassessments, apparent assassin Captain Simon Hayward joining the team when MI6 instructed him to do so, NATO's Anchor Express Exercise to join up with US Navy Task Force Eagle's invasion force in Northern Norway when it was learned that the Soviets had taken the bait, etc.

Just how much evidence of a massive conspiracy is necessary before police get serious about it all?
17:13 February 10, 2010 by conboy
I like to keep it simple Trow thats the kind of guy I am. Pettersson on his death bed told Gerd Fylking he did not commit the murder. Now why would a dying man lie? If the cops started there alone it would be a start - it suggests that there are still a lot of nervous people still in public life who are working awfully hard at keeping the lid on this - all the more interesting given the fact that it is a conservative Government which has lifted the statute of limitations. As for the Intel angle - it just gets too complicated for regular people. No offence ok?
20:27 February 10, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
You can want to keep it simple, conboy, but assassinations - not to forget 'natural disasters' - are getting more complicated by the day, and if investigators are not up to speed about this, there is no chance that they will ever solve anything.

P.s. For a clue about the problem, notice that there are almost as many posts on this thread as viewers! No one even cares. Just an indication of how narcissistic the world has become. And our neo-Nazis persist in believing that that they had shoot and destroy their way into a better world!
11:56 February 16, 2010 by andorsolsson@gmail.com
The murder is known. There are witness. A right extremist policeman. Now chair no 248 in the swedish parliament, for the Right party.

It was a gang of policemen, military and other extremist. Charles Morgan CIA. It was (close to) a coup d´eta.

The inhabitants still suffer.

10:22 March 21, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Can you believe it, the silence about Josef Fritzl apparently aka the 'mad Austrian' is broken, and we are told that his much abused daughter, Elisabeth, is coping quite nicely with her new identity in a nearby village to where she was imprisoned for 25 years - not what her murderous father apparently did for the Mossad, thanks to its blackmailing him because of previous murders!

For more on this convenient diversion, see the article about her in today's Sunday Independent.

Today's media is worse than what the Soviets allowed.

2 Dutchmen investigated for years the Palme case and 2 murders in Netherlands and France. Full corporation from many sides but not from Sweden. How come? Who knows? We'll be in Stockholm soon. Look at youtube-site of elzospringer1

Third attempt on the Forum: unlike all other "traces" only one trace shows connection with murders before (in Sweden) and after (Netherlands and France). Piece of cake for good investigators. Come on Swedish policemen and investigators: pick up the right trace.

What a lot of ignorance has been written in these comments here on the former Prime Minister Olof Palmé.

It is a fact that EVERYBODY is loved and hated almost in equal measure.

Olof Palmé helped me on an important issue for which I will be eternally grateful. He was a good person and NO person deserves to die in such a manner.

Investigations should be concentrated on the former SÄPO Chief at the time, Åke Hjälmroth, and the SÄPO Operations Chief at the time, PG Näss and the SÄPO guard that was assigned to Palmé's security the night of the assassination. This SÄPO guard was relieved of his duty that night by Olof Palmé as Mr. Palmé wanted to be out for the evening with his wife - hence the fact that he did not have a SÄPO guard following him that evening.

The intelligence and methods used by the Swedish Police in this investigation has been an utter disgrace and shows how totally inept they are at such an investigation.

Nine days after the assassination I personally wrote to the then Prime Minister, Ingvar Carlsson with copies of my letter to the then Justice Minister, Stig something or other from memory, and to Hans Holmér the Senior Police Investigating Officer informing them how they should investigate this assassination. The Swedish Police had already refused assistance from Britain's Scotland Yard, the American FBI and the then Russian KGB and the French and German Security Services on the pretense that they (Swedish Police) have all the necessary expertise to solve this case.

Some expertise and 25 years later all they could come up with is prosecuting the WRONG person who was later freed on appeal.

After I wrote my letter to the PM and JM and the Police Officer leading the investigation I received a visit from the police who questioned me about the murder of Olof Palmé. The police, who were probably just out of puberty, asked me where I was that particular evening.

I told them that I was in Sveavägen that night but they should be more interested where I was at the TIME of the murder to which I told them that I was at home. Afterall on a Friday evening there would have been several thousand people in Sveavägen on that particular evening.

I offered the police to arrest me and take me in for further questioning. They refused and said that they believed what I told them. How the hell could ANY responsible law enforcement official make such a stupid statement without checking up what he was told. THAT proved to me with investigators like THAT no person would EVER be brought to justice for this assassination becasue the Swedish Police just wasted time, tax payer's money and effort in questioning the WRONG person(s).

Well 25 years have certainly proved me right and I can safely state that they will never solve this case in 125 years.
