Passionately tender correspondence written by John F Kennedy to his Swedish sweetheart is up for auction in the United States.

The letters and telegrams are being sold by Gunilla von Post, now 78, described by Kennedy as my “Swedish flicka” (girl).

The relationship started in 1953, just before Kennedy’s marriage, when he met the 21-year-old Swedish siren on the French Riviera. A “magical evening” with the 35-year-old Kennedy, then a senator, led to a series of 11 letters and three telegrams from him. The relationship was maintained, off and on, for five years.

In one letter, dated 1956, Kennedy writes that “I got word today – that my wife & sister are coming here. It will all be complicated the way I feel now – my Swedish flicka. All I have done is sit in the sun & look at the ocean & think of Gunilla… All love, Jack.”

In 1997, von Post wrote a book about the relationship, and spoke movingly of her American beau. She recalls being “flooded with warm feelings…his charismatic smile.”

They met for the last time in 1958 at the Paris Ball in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York, and shared a final goodbye.

Bidding started at $25,000 on Tuesday and is set to continue for fifteen days. Four bids had been placed at the time of writing, topping out at $32,500.

It shows how time has changed. With the religious right wielding great influence on the state, infidelity is a crime in the US today. Bill Clinton was impeached for it.
19:27 February 16, 2010 by wxman
Bill Clinton was impeached for lying to a grand jury ABOUT the infidelity. Do you happen to remember this famnous quote, "I did not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky"? Lying to the Justice Dept. is a crime, not boffing some babe. If it were, JFK would have never gotten to the presidency. You libs always have selective memories. One more time: Clinton LIED, lying is illegal, get it?
21:26 February 16, 2010 by entry
Please do not trivialize this matter. This was not about martial infidelity. While being investigated for the sexual assault and harassment of more than three women, William Jefferson Clinton, then as president, lied under oath during depositions, in a grand jury and live on TV to the world. He got off easy, he lost his law license, he never served prison time and for some remarkable reason he is still the darling of the feminists.

Go figure!

@Glo, you have to understand that she was 21 years old and at that age most Swedish girls are indeed really hot. But they are like croissants with a very short shelve life. Ever tried eating a croissant the day after?

@Swedesmith...Stackars dig

The pic of her doesn't look very HOT but I agree with the first writer, Swedish women are very HOT. The only problem with that is when you're dating 1 , they're sooo many other HOT ones around that it can drive you a bit batty :P

Johnny Bye Bye...you didnt have to die, you didnt have to die. One of my first memories was the day he was killed. I remember being sent home from school and the black and white TV carried the news all day...no FoxNews or CNN either. The nation was shocked...my mother cried all day. A lot of things changed that day.

Men in power seem to have abnormal energy or an abnormal need for women...apparently that much hasnt changed.

I wonder what Gunilla looks like today and what she thinks about her affair with this tragic figure

@peropaco-

Day old croissants. Hillarious!

I wonder how Gunilla felt when she heard about his very public murder.

Jack Kennedy treated women like toilet paper. While his wife was suffering a miscarriage, he was on a boat with a friend and two bimbos. When he traveled as President, his "assistants" would bring him prostitutes. HE claimed to friends that if he didn't have sex every day, he would get migraine headaches. One of his women was the girlfriend of a major crime boss, and he and he brother Bobby probably had Marilyn Monroe killed to silence her - both of them were doing her.

Other than that, he was a fine family man.
