A sheltered housing facility in Torsby in western Sweden has found itself embroiled in a macabre controversy after a staff member dressed up as the Grim Reaper and threatened to castrate a bed-wetting patient.

The victim in the horror scenario was a handicapped man who had a problem with incontinence. Personnel at the home had grown tired of the man's bed-wetting and one staff member decided to take the matters into his own hands, according to a report in local newspaper Nya Wermlands-Tidningen (NWT).

The employee dressed up as the Grim Reaper, went into the handicapped man's room and threatened to cut off his penis if he did not stop peeing himself.

The incident has been reported to the local health authority and is the subject of a Torsby municipality investigation.

The "Grim Reaper's" macabre threats have not however been reported to the police, the newspaper reports, although the staff member in question has been served notice.

Nor is the incident an isolated occurrence, as a further report has already been filed against staff at the home.

"It concerns incidents occurring over an extended period of time but I can not go into more detail," Birgitta Bergh at Torsby municipality told NWT.

When the newspaper asked to review the documents pertaining to the reports they were told that they had been classified to protect the patients.

Very cruel and sick!
11:13 February 25, 2010 by Rick Methven
How absolutely sick. The poor guy is handicapped and in sheltered care. Instead of fitting to poor guy with a catheter to help him out some sicko plays a dirty trick on him like this.

This guy should be marked out so that when he gets old and starts peeing himself he can be left to Lie in his own pee for a month or two

The people who work in this kind of services are unskilled and badily paid. It is difficult to attract sensitive and caring workers because of low wages and bad conditions of work. The problem boils down to dwindling social fund, a consequence of scaling down government spending.

@Audrian,

Teachers, doctors, nurses, bankers and the editorial staff at the Local are also badly paid and unskilled yet you don't see them misbehaving?
12:01 February 25, 2010 by DamnImmigrant
I agree on the diaper!
12:09 February 25, 2010 by Audrian
@peropeco: I agree with you that teachers, doctors and the like are badily paid, but no way closer to what workers in nursing homes and the like are being paid. I am also agreeing with you that they are "misbehaving"". But the point I am emphasing is that better qualified people and those with sound psychological wellbeing are not attracted.

@Audrian,

I can agree with you to some extent. Scaling down gvt spending, OK, but if the spending was irresponsible to begin with and in the scale-down only the responsible spending is cut and the waste still continues... What is needed is administrative reform down the board. I bet the money is being spent paying inflated salaries of the policy-maiking politicians who sit there deciding where the money should go instead of going to pay for the salaries of the people offering the actual servces.

Many countries charge much lower taxes and provide much better services because the money is actually spent on what counts, i.e., education, health care, transportation etc... and not on multi-million projects such as a new sports arenas with retractable roofs which collapse under the weight of winter snows, huge swimming halls, spending fortunes to purchase exotic wildlife for local zoos only to turn anound and kill them when they get too much trouble to care for, etc...

Cutting off a man's penis: all he needs next is a Porsche and who knows he can get 'love' again, or care...
12:35 February 25, 2010 by Audrian
Re Karex: Good points. Resource waste by government is common, e.g., corruption, military expenditure and inefficiency. I can not agree more. The solution is not cutting spending, but rather making politicians more accountable. Unfortunately this is more said than done, because of the nature of representative politics. Once politicians are elected we do not care to know about them until the end of their terms. During election time there are very few opportunities to know more. Voters are often in the dark unless politicians make big blunders, e.g., invading a country, bank crises, unemployment. These big things do not happen all the time.

This is so sad and sick. Is that employee too stupid to realize that the handicapped man can't help himself?

They should throw his ass in jail for abuse or at least fire him and force him to get counseling.
19:49 February 25, 2010 by wxman
If you don't want to clean up someone else's urine, don't work in a care facility! Meanwhile, as you are a sick worthless sob who's a drain on his country's economy, perhaps someone should lob your's off so you don't reproduce.

How much money you make doing your job is irrelevant. I worked with mentally & physically challenged people in the states and it wasn't much more than working at McDonalds. You must have a passion/compassion for anything you do and do it well. Obviously the person who did this monstrosity to another human being was not of sound mind.

In Pennsylvania you must have your 33 & 34 act clearances(a child abuse clearance & a criminal background check), along with training and classes to teach you how to approach most situations you will come across on the job.

I do think the person should be IMMEDIATELY fired, and NEVER allowed to go back in to that field of work, as well as getting some type of mental eval and therapy as well as punishment for abusing another. He will be old soon too, and karma doesn't play fair.

So do you blame the government? The job facility? The person who committed the crime? Or just jump right back to the government???

I say the person who committed the crime should be accountable at all costs.
