The leader of a criminal gang arrested in Nörrköping in eastern Sweden on drug charges walked free on Saturday when police left him unattended in an exercise yard.

"This is serious," Anja Neumayer, the station commander told news agency TT.

The 22-year-old man, who heads up the Red & White Crew, a criminal wing of the Hells Angels biker gang in Sweden, was left unattended in a five metres squared exercise yard with only light netting overhead.

"He somehow managed to get himself up and through the netting. It isn't that strong so if you're able to climb and jump it's not impossible," said Neumayer.

"This is an old building, built with older security features than those used now."

According to police, the Red & White Crew, a so called biker gang "supporters group" which runs a number of criminal rackets in Sweden, has grown rapidly in numbers in recent years.

Police in Nörrköping searched for the gang's leader on Saturday night but suspect that he may already have escaped overseas.

Stupid... next time tie a string to his pinkie finger and the other end to a door or something, that would double the difficulty of prisoners escaping.

I guess the police were busy doing lapdog work for their US masters by chasing down acne ridden teens who downloaded a mp3 file instead. Its all about priorities isnt it?

Sweden's police drive Volvo station wagons, so what do you expect?

In plain language the police let him go.

is just me or does 22 seem Very young to 'head up' a criminal gang of this type or any other come to think of it?
20:08 February 28, 2010 by Kaethar
Not really, since most members of these gangs are in their early to late teens.
21:24 February 28, 2010 by Alex Coman
It happens all the time around the world.

The police will finally catch him, and he will be sorry for this escapade.

Or probably he will die by his comrades hands.

I agree with green Swede, that it looks very strange, that 22 year old guy can be a leader of this criminal gang. As far as I do not know almost anything about swedish organised crime, I can only say that those Red & White crew should be some kind of wannabees or starting point for young people.

Probably he is an informant and the story is a plant.
13:16 March 2, 2010 by Aceblack
Red & White crew is more or less a youth division of Hells Angels, wich they recrute from, and most members are between 18 - 25. Note also that he only was leader for the Norrköping Chapter of RWC and not for the whole organisation.

He has probably leaved the country by now since he was going to jail for a long time!
13:49 March 2, 2010 by Aceblack
4 people from the gang was arrested. 3 Swedes and 1 Yugoslavian. The one who escaped was most likely the Yugo from what I've heard so he´s maybe hiding somewere in the Balkans now
