One morning last year I was crossing a street running alongside Karlavagen via a pedestrian crossing when a silver Porsche SUV sped right up to me so that his huge bonnet was just a few inches from my chest! Very aggressive, very intimidating! I too slapped the top of his bonnet in irritation then carried on along Karlavagen.
The next thing I knew the silver SUV swung up against me and out jumped this large but sterio-typical Ostermalmie Swede (all green padded jacket, swept back hair etc etc) who strode straight up to and threw a punch straight at my face - which fortunately I managed to duck! His Swedish % ) friend sat passively in SUV watching all this like it was quite normal. He then sneered and turned back to his vehicle.
I took his number plate and subsequently looked the guy up. He was the 35 year old CEO of a local company employing about 25 people and serving many of Sweden's biggest companies eg Tele2 etc.
No I didn't bother with the Swedish police as the last night I troubled them the bored officer at Ostermalm nick told me they were just so "busy" they were no longer investigating any crime which carried a sentence of less than 2 years. Which in Sweden is just about every crime in the book.
I suspect the main link between my attacker and Mr Monopoly in Los Angeles is something called Cocaine. That and friends who are prepared to sit passively by supporting animals who behave like this.
In my mind this is what longer sentences are about keeping law abiding people safe from predators like this guy .
They think it a barbaric sentence? How Odd. I tend to view the rape wave the Swedish government has invited into the country barbaric, especially when it is innocents instead of the guilty that are on the receiving end of the 'barbarism. The moral inversion of Swedish judges and politicians seems rather complete.
Annika Östberg participated in crimes where two people died, a restaurant owner and a police officer. The intent of her and her boyfriend was to kill. In this instance, the defense could and probably did argue that murder was not the intent. 15 to life is reasonable in California as was Annika's 25 years to life sentence.
According to California law, a car is a weapon, just as much as a AK-47, no difference.
Not too long ago you would have been right. The formerly homogenous, single culture Swedish society was relatively peaceful. However, as Sweden becomes more diversified and multi-cultural, it has experienced an ever-increasing crime rate as low-lifes from around the planet make their way to your shores. So now, you can join America in "celebrating diversity"!

In many ways America is a society and culture that promotes and romanticizes violence. The culture of Hollywood with all of the cowboy and Indian movies, war movies and gangster movies must have an effect on viewers after so many years. Washingtons promotion of wars without end. After leaving…it feels like you are being deprogrammed...suddenly you don't need your daily dose of violence. You find yourself being repulsed by it. Now this rapper and hip-hop culture are blatantly promoted in entertainment…this human species is being desensitized to irrational violence.
For those of you touting such an effective criminal justice system…it begs the question. Why so much violence?
As for "wars on end", I don't see the relevance of that to the issue of a murder sentence.
Rap music does romanticize violence. So why is it so popular in Sweden? A country supposedly without it?
Smug much?
Peropaco…you say…Anyone out there wishing to bump off someone, should invite that person to Sweden and commit the crime here.
I can think of a number of reasons to invite someone to Sweden but I have to admit…bumping them off would be dead last. I don't understand the sentencing structure either…I am pretty sure it is a culture thing. Strange as it seems…it sort of works here. I wonder about the rehabilitation rate, though.
Telzey… from your tone I probably would be wasting both of our time trying to explain to you what I was getting at. Mostly, I was questioning a couple of things about society. Is that allowed in your book these days? But you say, among other things…In any event, crime rates have been plummeting in the US for the last 20 years, particularly violent crime, for reasons no one can really explain. I have just one more question, sir…Why are the prisons so full?
One thing is for certain…this bad guy is going to walk the walk now.
