Police have identified nine of the sixteen Hammarby supporters who crashed an AIK training session on Wednesday and threatened Uruguayan international midflieder Sebastián Eguren.

A firm favourite with Hammarby fans during his tenure at the club, Eguren became a hate figure for extreme supporter elements when he signed recently for arch rivals AIK after returning from a lengthy loan spell at Villareal in Spain.

On Tuesday irate hooligans moved their activities off various web forums and onto the training pitch at Skytteholms IP to put their message across to Eguren in person: "Traitor. We're going to get you. This is just a warning -- we'll be back."

Eguren was protected by his teammates, who formed a barrier around the player. The hooligans then left the training ground and had disappeared by the time police arrived at the scene.

But as the reigning Swedish champions keep video recordings of all training sessions, police officers working closely with fan violence were quickly able to identify nine known troublemakers, Sveriges Radio reports. The fans are suspected of making unlawful threats and could face criminal charges.

"We're in talks with AIK, who have primary responsibility as the employer. We'll have to wait and see how the police will become involved in this," police officer Hans Löfdahl told the public broadcaster.

With the Swedish football season set to kick off this weekend, Sebastián Eguren is hoping to boost his chances of selection to the Uruguayan World Cup squad having lost his place at the heart of the Villareal midfield.

Would sure be nice if Stockholm authorities could do the right thing and make an example of these thugs in order to send a message that our society won't tolerate such behavior. But alas, they will probably be given nothing more than a stern talking to by some idiot who thinks holding people responsible for their actions and doling out stern consequences to match stern misbehavior do not belong in a "civilized" society. When the dust settles from this, it will merely be further evidence of Sweden's long descent into a culture of fear and disrespect.

These low lifes are the worst scum. A disgrace to the club; absolute idiots. Sterilization would be an appropriate action.

I think they have watched one too many Danny Dyer movies... White trainers, CHECK... jacket, CHECK!... Legs spread like you're taking a pee stance, CHECK! ... this is why Danny Dyer should be humanely put down, for the good of mankind.

It is idiots like this that cause problems around the world for football fans that enjoy the sport

I have known many a person like this that call themselves fans!... but there not! they could not tell you the first thing about the team they are supposed to support!

I think that they should be banned for LIFE!!! from any sports event and the club they supposedly support should be fined for there actions until club and country take part in keeping these numpty's away from our great game!

its not just a game anymore, its become a way of life for some. but it was taken too far. when will all these stop in football.

Take a page put of the English Hooligan crackdown. The football here in Sweden will need more police, more cctv, life time bans and more resources to gain intelligence about the firms and who the top boys are and what they are planning.

This will all result in the ticket prices going up, but its a small price to pay to fix this before it gets out of hand. The ticket prices being more expensive might put off a few hools aswell as they spend all their money on nice gear looking good for the game, and the brawling before and after.
