finally some1 else won congrats Anna Bergendahl after 2008 idol.people should be tired of every year alcazar,pauline and et c.where are the those young talents i see at idol iaudtions .i do hope performs well at eurovision

If the winner is going to compete in the Eurovision...why would the Swedish contestant be someone who sings in English? In my humble opinion, Timoteo, or whatever they called themselves was the only act that in the first place sang in Swedish and secondly, thirdly and fourthly...had a unique act with four really beautiful Swedish young ladies that actually played musical instruments. But then again...I am still trying to figure how Calle lost to the bland Vanilla dude in Idol. Not that I care...and what do I know?

She is 18 years old, not 19 as written in the article. Poor thing, she even had to correct the SVT interviewer who said she was 17. Media needs to get the facts right for a change.

Salem Al Fakir's song was by far the best and it is a pity that he didn't win.

She sang like a chicken and dressed like a hobo. Fakir or Ola would have been much better choices. Both are fine perfomers with great stage presence.

Salem was best by a mile, once again the Swedes have thrown away their chance of winning.

I wasn't surprised though, considering last years debacle.

The 'Timotej' shampoo girls didn't actually play their instruments, look carefully, especially the accordion woman.

Anna deserved to win. It was the only one of the lot, with a beginning, middle and end, and gave me goosebumps. Well done Anna, I wish her the best of luck in May.

Overall a great show, SVT should be proud.

Of course they didnt Mr. G, but I understand they are musicians...any relation to Kenny? I was wondering if any were actually singing or if it was all lip synched.

To be honest, the whole shebang seems a bit on the lame side to me...but then again, I was brought up on the likes of The Beatles, The Doors, Simon and Garf, Cat Stevens, Elton John, The Who, Jethro Tull, etc.

Was it just me or did it seem that Salem was not properly miked compared to his orginal performance? The background music was too loud.

I think the Salem, who is clearly the most multi-talented, and a singer-songwriter, would have had a better shot in the European contest. Ola also had a great stage presence and would have been a pro in the higher pressure environment at eurovision.

Anna is a really good singer, and was quite the homeland sweetheart. She was to the liking of my in-laws and their pensionar friends.

I supported Salem - I thought his song was the best and most original and would have done well in Europe - the trouble is that Sweden likes to play it safe and stick to a tried and trusted formula - Lordi could never have wom Melodifestivalen

I have nothing against Anna's song though - it's just a bit predictable and she sounds a lot like the Icelandic girl Yohanna from last year.

It's good that Sweden has finally got the idea of sending a young talent rather than their previous policy of sending a Swedish *big star* - nearly fell of my chair a few years ago when Terry Wogan described the over botoxed Charlotte Perrelli as 'scary' or when Grahma Norton dismissed Marlena Erman as 'popera'

The reason why AB did not win the outdated format of Idol is because she had no personality and no passion in her singing. Most people can be taught to hold a note and her voice is good but unexceptional. Salem was different class and unique.

Im not sure about the voting mechanism either last night as clearly the 'panel' voting involved unsubstantiated votes from z list celebs sitting out back at Globen making out they were in france or Ireland or somewhere. Probably the same people that vote on the same songwriters every year with their multiple studio enhanced 80's euro pop.

Time to stop cheating the public with this stuff.

I am a Morrissey fanatic and I went last night. I was under duress as I had been invited by a top client.

Actually the event turned out to be a lot of fun. For us exiles its amazing to see the Swedes throw away their inhibitions and enjoy themselves. A stereotype maybe but its a rare sight.

In the 70's svenne and lotta performed a song at melodifestivalen Lotta is American an black, Svenne has a hump. Neither of them were blondes.

It's such a pity. They should've sent Fakir. His show's different and interesting. Now with this song, it's so obvious they're gonna lose..

PS: xykat, i agree with you about Sweden not sending contestants with immigrant background. It's claimed to be people who choose the winner in the end, but it does appear to be kind of suspicious!

The international jury voted hands down for Fakir, meaning if he represented Sweden he may have gotten more foriegn votes. Not just from Norway and finicky Finland. Typical

I loved watching the show (we had a get together at a pub in Sydney yesterday to watch it) but the winning song is a travesty.

Yes it may be the most popular with the Swedish public right now but it is a boring song performed boringly by a bore.

I saw the Swedish contest. Was goes against this performance is the overdone vibrato. For Elvis vibrato was second nature and used with how he started the sound and expressed the song in tunes. Here it is just used to end prolonged notes at the end of verses.

I thought she had a problem with the song actually singing false - I did not get that was supposed to vibrator. It was only listening to her second performance after wining that I understood it was supposed to be like that. From research I also learned she was popular in Sweden from Idols doing and uderstooed remembering the speakers note before her first performance she is supposed to be well known for a sort of Elvis impressive vibrato (however I don't see that at all and Elvis was not just the vibrato or technique)

So if anyone gets that this is vibrator (had not heard the performer before the final and did not know she was popular from Swedish Idols ... ) ... then I hope they will change that. I simply did not get that vibrato thing. Better may be to keep it out.

The song material is good - nice song.

Many songs in your contest was well written. Good material most of it compared to other countries.

Best and most interesting performance was that Salem Al Fakir - you remember that after watching him among other contestants. Anyway you don't forget about that. Impressive singing skills doing that thing with his lips while singning. I don't know if he could have won the international because of that stunt-piano thing. Why know play it? But you remember that. And good material as the others.

Researched him too. Seems to be a possible big international upcoming talent. Hope he will keep his intial music around and keep away from "everything has to be club-like so you can dance". Because nice songs for listening. But must admit I discovered during research I have that remixed version of "It's True" in my techno collection. But great music coming out of this guy in general.
