Two remanded over cartoon murder plot

Two men arrested in Ireland last week in connection with a plot to murder Swedish artist Lars Vilks were remanded into custody on Monday.

Five of the seven arrested last week on suspicion of plotting to kill Vilks over his cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad as a dog have now been released.

Ali Charaf Damache, 44 and from Algeria, appeared in court charged with sending a menacing text message, said Irish state broadcaster RTE.

Abdul Salam Monsour Khalil Al-Jahani was charged with an immigration offence at the court in Waterford, southeast Ireland. The 32-year-old Libyan is accused of failing to produce correct identity papers.

They were remanded in custody and will appear in court again on Friday, said RTE.

According to the Algerian man's counsel, Brian Chesser, the charges are a way for the police to continue to keep his client in custody, and he thinks that more serious charges will be levelled later.

The men were part of a seven-strong group arrested last Tuesday over an alleged plot to assassinate Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who has a $100,000 bounty on his head from an al-Qaeda-linked group.

Another suspect, a Croatian man, was released without charge on Monday after six days of questioning, Irish police said.

Only two of the seven people arrested have now faced charges. The other five - three women and two men - have been released without charge in recent days.

Files are being prepared for the country's director of public prosecutions, according to police.

Those originally arrested were three Algerians, a Libyan, a Palestinian, a Croatian and a US national, a police source has told AFP. They ranged in age from mid 20s to late 40s.

The controversy started when Swedish regional daily Nerikes Allehanda published Vilks' satirical cartoon in 2007 to illustrate an editorial on the importance of freedom of expression.

The cartoon prompted protests by Muslims in the town of Örebro, west of Stockholm, where the newspaper is based, while Egypt, Iran and Pakistan made
formal complaints.

An Al-Qaeda front organisation then offered $100,000 to anyone who murdered Vilks - with an extra $50,000 if his throat was slit - and $50,000 for the death of Nerikes Allehanda editor-in-chief Ulf Johansson.

The protests in Sweden echoed the uproar caused in Denmark by the publication in September 2005 of 12 drawings focused on Islam, including one showing the prophet Muhammad with a turban in the shape of a bomb.

Last week, the Irish Independent newspaper reported that a suspect known as "JihadJane", the online name of Colleen LaRose, had spent two weeks in Ireland last September on a "fact-finding trip" before her arrest in October.

LaRose has been indicted for recruiting jihadist fighters in the US, Europe and Asia in a bid to carry out terror plots.

She was reportedly monitored with a couple in Cork and Waterford in southern Ireland, where the seven were arrested.

US prosecutors said that LaRose had agreed to carry out the murder of a Swedish resident, pledging "only death will stop me."

The US Justice Department has declined to say if LaRose was connected to the alleged plot to kill Vilks. The Washington Post has cited government officials who confirm the link.

This case is getting more bizarre by the moment.

We were originally told that there was a 'Jihad Jane' plot to recruit Islam assassins to kill people like Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, and now the Irish part of claim has fallen apart.

Algerian Ali Charaf Damache has been charged with sending a menacing text message to the state broadcaster RTE, and Abdul Salem Monsour Khalil Al-Jahani for using false papers to immigration officials. Some murderous conspiracy!

Of course, Colleen LaRose aka 'Jihad Jane' is then brought into the account, and there are claims that there seem to be much more serious charges to come but this is just self-serving claims by the securocrats. If they had them, they certainly would have established them by now.

Still raises the question about what 'Jihad Jane' really did when she went on her 7-week 'fact-finding' mission here and in the rest of Europe. Her trip to Ireland seems irrelevant to what is happening to these two charged.

I am more convinced than ever that her biggest task was to set me up as a white person, interested in suppórting assassinations against people like Vilks, and am writing my own article about it now.
09:40 March 16, 2010 by johnnyrebel
Trowbridge...so many of these conspiracy cases seem to fall apart in the wash. Have there been any convictions in the 911 of 2001 infamy? Not to my knowledge...what could be taking so long? Now they are down to two in custody in this apparent fiasco...apparently held on unrelated charges. No white person in his right mind would even contemplate assasinating retarded Lars Vilks...he is much more valuable alive. Maybe a good punch in the nose for all the trouble he seems to enjoy causing with his retarded drawings. Rest assured my good man...you are innocent until proven guilty, in my book...just like in all tried and true democracies. Hang in there.

Nice to see The Local open things up a bit.

Someone is off his meds AGAIN. Leave us already, stop talking about it.
10:42 March 16, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Yeah, off my meds again, Dazzler, when you continually follow my tracks on this site!

I would be less concerned if people, apparently securocrats, stopped breaking into my house and stealing stuffy, things like CD players in my study and e-mails and files in this computer.

I am now looking into their having installed keyloggers into my soft and hard drives, added or deleted items in those permanently deleted, and if and when the computer was turned on while I was away in California.

Seems like a nice bunch of scum you are always protecting, Dazzler.
10:49 March 16, 2010 by sweco1
Colleen LaRose now I think they are getting a little closer to the root of the one's that are pushing this Terrorist stuff.

I think Säpo and the FBI have broken their networks so it is not such a big secret anymore to the intelligent community.

But normal people do not understand what it going on unless you do the research.

Yes there are methods they are using they keep repeating over time you just have to figure out what these methods are!

The networks have been base in Norht American for at least one hundred year but really did not go big time until after the death of Franklin Roosevelt.
11:05 March 16, 2010 by johnnyrebel
Thanks for clearing that up...sweco1.

Come on Trowbridge. Everyone know's that this was the work of dissident republicans:

http://beer-and-loathing-in-gothenburg.blogspot.com/2010/03/lars-vilks.html
12:11 March 16, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Well,we may know more who broke into our rowhouse, and stole the CD player, as I have taken the main computer to the shop to determine if and when it was on when we went to California, if anything was added or deleted into the hard drive, and if any keyloggers have been added to the soft or hardware and who might have done it, etc.

Will slow downn the writing of any article, but if my suspicions are confirmed, I shall be doing much more than that.

I say off with his head..

err.. their heads...

umm her head..

ok, i'm confused now.

One thing that puzzled me, say someone did kill the cartoonist for the HUUUUGE crime of....creating a cartoon, how do they collect the money?

I mean if its known that Aziz did the killing, he is behind bars, if not... how does Aziz go to collect??

Also, doodles, i've seen some doodles that can be pretty offensive to quite a few religions... do they count or does it have to be published to have an effect?

On an Irish forum I am on, there is general agreement that Jihad Jane is the biggest idiot to step foot on Irish soil, by far.

From what is being said in Ireland, her accompliances are not exactly too bright either, but any standards. At least one garda on a forum has suggested that they all be IQ tested due to being complete imbeciles.

If this is Al Queda, they are looking more and more like US rednecks every day.

At least in ireland some of our terrorists have enough intelligence to rob a bank and invest it in the stock exchange, sort of like US bankers. There is something really wrong with that statement:)

These Al Queda terrorists have to get a malcontented US red neck to do there planning for them. Just how many kinds of stupid are they?
13:01 March 16, 2010 by square

Al-Qaeda?

Trow again your getting your facts wrong ...& from the front page ! geeee

Quote Trow:

Algerian Ali Charaf Damache has been charged with sending a menacing text message to the state broadcaster RTE....No No No Trow , thats not what he was charged with ...in fact it doesn't state what he was charged with .

What it says is : Ali Charaf Damache, 44 and from Algeria, appeared in court charged with sending a menacing text message, "said Irish state broadcaster RTE".

Now apart from this , I couldn't agree more with what your sentients here ..This case is getting more bizarre by the moment...whats even more bizarre though is that you still think that this is some conspiracy out to get you ! come on Trow admit you have got this one wrong ! ...actually you have many things wrong
17:38 March 16, 2010 by travels
@ Nemesis

"From what is being said in Ireland, her accompliances are not exactly too bright either, but any standards. At least one garda on a forum has suggested that they all be IQ tested due to being complete imbeciles."

Anybody who gets so offended over a cartoon as to want to murder the cartoonist or bomb its country or riot because of it, etc (or anyone who justifies the possible murder for that matter) is probably not the brightest light bulb and would qualify for an IQ test to prove imbecility.

Lars Viks and the Nerikes Allehanda should be given the Nobel Prize for protecting free speech.

As to the plots .. It's hard to prove and as many have pointed out these are not the brightest group US or otherwise.

Police officers shown in the picture have two different shirts and tie but same jacket(uniform or multiform?)... and you never now the man behind cover would be their own boss. lol

@Trow

"Will slow downn the writing of any article, but if my suspicions are confirmed, I shall be doing much more than that. "

So Trow, Trow... what is the plan after you discover who touched the computer with the key-loggers (which usually start working AFTER you install them, not retroactively, to my knowledge).

Let's imagine you found which files were erased (or loaded, I constantly forget) in a daring mission of expensive foreign operatives?

What is the big plan of the big man, to bring down the CIA, "Prison Break" style? Eh?

What more can you inflict on the imperialist snake besides publishing the truth about it in your, oh, so anticipated article?
07:27 March 17, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Just more quibbling, Snoopy!, in a continuing attempt to discredit me.

I neither used the article above nor quoted from it but from one in the Irish Independent, as I recall, about his January 9th massive text threat. I was getting ready to start my own thread when this one appeared.

And, even if I were incorrect about who he threatened, what difference would it make?

Am having the main computer searched for the kinds of things I am interested, and want to hear what percentage of the costs you will be paying for.

Uncle, I have never installed any keylogger into my computer. Believe the securocrats have, though, and well before I left for California.

And if I find what I suspect, I shall be opening a massive civil damage suit against the US government, especially the CIA and FBI.
07:32 March 17, 2010 by johnnyrebel
here for the summer...giving Lars a Nobel Prize for his shenanigans would be tantamount to giving Oblabla a Nobel Peace Prize. So why not? That would be fun to see how that would fly on the world stage. How about all of your tax dollars now being spent to protect that piece of work? Dont get me wrong...he has the freedom to express himself in my book, even with his dismal sense of taste. Freedom to be stupid.

Uncle...I thought they had run you out of town on the other article. But you must be patient and wait for Trobridges article...I would think that since you are such a rabid supporter of Retard Boy Lars that surely you would support Trowbridges freedom to express himself without ridiculing him in advance. I suppose that is what your idea of freedom of expression is all about...ridiculing others who dont agree with you. Well, I guess we all have something in common.

Now the Irish(the land of Nemesis) police are headed to the States to further unravel this mystery. Will they ever get to the bottom of this? Trowbridge? Whats the story?
08:00 March 17, 2010 by izbz
Religion is a sensitive issue, Lars is asking for trouble. Freedom of expression? I am not a muslim or christian, I definately will never mock any other religions' God. Me, I only dislike fanatic muslims or holier than thou christian. These are the real trouble makers who think that their religion are the perfect one and those who don't believe go to hell.

As a buddhist I only believe in doing things that I think is right. Never have once tell a muslim or a christian that they will go to hell if they don't believe in Buddha. I am also very upset to walk into Indiska and notice that they are selling Buddha soap, lamps and candles. Also notice some bars call Buddha bar. But did Buddha really disapprove drinking? He just teaches do what is right same as other religions' leaders.

Lars should apologise publicly and be forgiven. Man make mistake if they don't then they are god. But death threat is a bit too much. Mohammad would have tell his followers that Lars is stupid, just forgive him.
08:07 March 17, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Thanks, johnnyrebel. for the support.

Guardai are going to Washington because the FBI-CIA allegations of a real terrorist plot have turned up nothing.

Believe my forthcoming article will explain alot, and a successful damage suit will explain it all.
15:16 March 17, 2010 by Uncle
jonnyrebel - it takes to actually convince me in an argument to run me out of town, not sit and curse like alcoholics on the street.

I genuinely want to know what is the plan of Trowbridge.. Are you now the ultimate bouncer in the door of Trow? Can I not have a dialogue with him w/o you rushing to defend your favourite guy? Or is it that you suspect that he is uncapable of defending himself due to some deficiency? Why wouldn't you tell him that straight up?

In regards to the topic above. What amazes me is the double standards of the liberal crowd. Saying that someone is asking for trouble (death in this case) when dealing with religion, is like saying that a woman, who dresses sexy is asking for a rape. Both are provocative both have a bigger chance to be a crime victim.

Why are the liberals blaming men for raping sexy women, but at the same time point the blaming finger at Lars when he is threatened? Let's be consistent...

If men are morally guilty in rape, then muslim extremists are also guilty and not Lars... However if Lars is guilty in enraging the muslims, let's tell women that provocative dressing is on their own risk, eh?
07:23 March 18, 2010 by johnnyrebel
Uncle...Lets be consistent...

First, you might try being coherent and cognizant. Baby steps!!!
09:08 April 3, 2010 by Trowbridge H. Ford
Now Mrs. Jamie Paulin Ramirez - the suspect in the alleged Vilks assassination plot who was released by the court in Waterford, Ireland - has been arrested by the FBI when she returned to Philadelphia voluntarily on Good Friday, charged with the same offense for which she could received 15 years if convicted.

Sounds like just stoking up more fears about 'Jihad Jane's alleged European training ground in Europe, apparently in Sweden, of assassins to kill looneys like the cartoonist for which she could face life in prison if convicted.

Looks like both of them will now plead guilty to some lesser offense, and the FBI can toot its horn about saving Vilks and the rest of us from some terrible murder conspiracy.

Looks like the plot to entrap me in the process is turning out to be a real fiasco.
