Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has a huge lead over Social Democrat Party leader Mona Sahlin, a new survey of voter confidence by Novus Opinion shows.

The poll shows that 47 percent of voters have high or quite high confidence in Fredrik Reinfeldt, while only 19 percent displayed the same enthusiasm for Mona Sahlin.

Only 4 percent stated that they had a high level of confidence in Mona Sahlin, while 24 percent answered yes to the same question for Reinfeldt.

34 percent of voters expressed very little confidence for Mona Sahlin, while 18 percent said the same of Fredrik Reinfeldt.

"I have had an uphill struggle for quite some time in these types of surveys," Mona Sahlin told TV4.

The Novus Opinion survey was commissioned by TV4 and involved 1,000 respondents.

What area did they conduct this small sample polling..

Reinfeldt is crap, anyone inline with Carl Bildt is full of Bull!

Nice to have the shadow of the darkness running the show!

They are quite good actors not to show their true colors.

"I have had an uphill struggle for quite some time in these types of surveys," Mona Sahlin told TV4.

Dont worry Mona, these surveys are extremely inaccurate and a waste of time and money.

The re-election of the same ruling parties could mean more privatization, shrinking government, rising profit for big companies and dwindling social security for low income groups.
10:22 March 24, 2010 by Balticcrosser
The re-election of the same ruling parties will mean the promotion of enterprise, an increase in Sweden's overall wealth, greater incentives to work rather than live on benefits, the tackling of benefit fraud (e.g. sick benefits), and yes, smaller government. And given the size and scope of government in Sweden, that might not be a bad thing.

Unfortunately, the party leader's personal appeal and leadership abilities can influence voters over party policy and sincerity.

We had two very good party leaders in Uk with Margret Thatcher and Tony Blair, but both were complete arseholes. Margret Thatcher was very sincere and a strong leader, but she belived in all the wrong things and believed the free market should be allowed to run everything. Tony Blair was a lying, deceitful, power-mad bastard who used spin doctors to boost his image. Both their predecesors were/are far more honest and sincere/caring, but incredibly boring to listen to.

We'll see when the real voting starts. Sure go ahead vote Reinfeldt, you'll see the gap between the rich and the poor get worse. Best advice just write a list of the good things and the f##K ups this present party have done since they took over then cast your votes.

I sure have decided where mine goes to.

GOOD LUCK

It's a pity that The Local does not seem to have grasped that Sweden has a Parliamentary system and not a Presidential system by focussing on the party leader - but ingnoring the polls on voter intentions.

While for those who are used to US-style presidential campaigns the issue of whether voters 'like' Reinfeldt or Sahlin may appear interesting - you need to look at the position of the party blocks. For example the party support poll in DN last week showed:

- support for Sahlins centre-left block of S, Mp and V increasing to 49.7%

- support for Reinfledts centre right block declining to 44.3%

The thing is that people may like Reinfeldt personally and dislike Sahlin - however the PM post is relatively anonymous in Sweden compared to the UK PM - how much have we heards from Reinfeldt since his election. There is also the problem that some of Reinfeldt's Ministers have made themselves very unpopular

- Ask - the Justice minister knowing little about the law

- Husmark Perssons - clumsy social security reforms which has led to 6 month waiting times for unemployement benefits and the sick and disabled - including cancer patients being forced to fins jobs.

So this election is much more complex than a leadership beauty contest - it is also interesting that this poll did not examine the popularity of the other party leaders - for example in a poll a few days ago the Mp leader Maria Wetterstrand was almost as popular as Reinfeld

I would imagine that Thomas Quick has a higher rating than Sahlin, Ask and Olofsson put together.

I don´t vote for any of these two parties, but we know though that as long as Mona Sahlin is in the run, Reinfeldt doesn´t have to be scared of loosing the election...If the Social Democrates will get someone else in her position...then our Prime Minister should worry! The Social Democrates are strong right now, but their leader isn´t.

I will vote for the Swedish Democrates to the Parlament, because they are the only ones careing about the swedish people and their traditions.

She was a head a few days ago..... But after commenting about Turks she lost support and according to the two polls she is on loss now....

To whover wrote this article's title: I can't say this with complete confidence, but I have my doubts that the word "street" is a verb in English. If it does exist, it is not widely used and is probably archaic. It looks like a Swenglish word to native speakers of English.

To Glempa: if you are British, you might want to learn how to spell Margaret Thatcher's name.

This article does not reflect reality. Reality is that the moderate party is in complete breakdown. It has 40% share of all MPs that have left during the term. Members are leaving it all over, joining new parties but constantly looking over their shoulders, worrying that they will be found out by their ex-party comrades.

Reinfeldt is a disaster and I very much doubt that they will get anywhere near as many votes as they are currently being credited for.

The socialdemocrats are even worse however. Their idea on how to reform the social security system is an outright disaster. "Utförsäkrade" comitting suicide and a law reform that should have been rejected by the law council, however, they are such a bunch of sheep that they still accepted it.

Yeah, don't expect the socialdemocrats to change anything if they win. It was their idea, not the moderates.

This brings to mind Winston Churchill who said: "Capitalism is the uneven distribution of wealth. Socialism is the even distribution of misery". So, which will it be? With all its flaws, Capitalism gets my vote.
