Swedish population to top 10 million in 2021

Sweden's population increased by 84,000 people in 2009 and is set to grow by 600,000 over the next ten years, passing the 10 million mark in 2021, according to a new forecast from Statistics Sweden (SCB).

The birthrate remained high despite the economic crisis with the fertility rate for 2010 estimated at 1.97 children per woman, the highest level since 1993. Sweden has long shown a strong correlation between childbearing and the economic cycle as the parental insurance system tracks income.
115,000 children per annum are forecast to be added to the population in the coming few years, up slightly on the 112,000 new citizens arriving in 2009, according to the SCB report.
The trend of a rise in life expectancy is set to continue with women expected to live 3.5 years longer in 2060, to 86.9 years, in comparison with 83.4 in 2010. Men are expected to live slightly more than five years longer in 2060, from 79.5 years in 2010 to 84.7 years then.
Sweden's population passed the nine million mark in 2004 and is expected to top 10 million in 2021.
The number of elderly people (over 65s) is forecast to increase by 362,000 by 2021, the number of those of working age (20-64) by 151,000 and young people (aged 0-19) by slightly more than 96,000.

well, do you think at all?
I say that because the usual sight for me when seeing mothers walking around is either 2 swedish/thai moms with 1 baby each in a stroller and maybe 1 more older child following or 2 refugee moms (I'm assuming refugee due to their dress) with 1 baby each in a stroller and 6 to 8 kids trailing behind.
It would be interesting to see this report broken down in more detail like cbeynch above suggested. Personally I'm most interested in education and ability to support themselves. I think that will make the biggest difference in the long run. Religion plays a big part in the lives of most of the refugees coming into sweden but I really do believe that the more educated you are the less likely you are to become a fundamentalist of any religion, as least in most cases.
My next door neighbour who was married to a Swedish man said the problem was that Sweden accepted virtually ANYONE who wanted to escape the harshness of the mother country. This was because these immigrants were prepared to do the menial jobs that Swedish people did not want.
Sweden "accept virtually ANYONE who want[ed] to escape the harshness of the mother country" because Swedes are uncomfortable with saying "no". When people without legitimate asylum claims refuse to accept a "no" answer, Swedes in charge are even more uncomfortable with saying "NO!".
According to the Swedish immigration office (invandrarverket) own figures, only 5% of those people that are finally granted asylum in Sweden - most often after years of appeals - meet the criteria for what constitutes a refugee according to the standard set by the UN.

To be a Muslim is not to be a member of a certain race. Being Muslim doesn't even equal being of a certain ethnic group. I care more about members of my own family than I care about strangers. I also care more about my own ethnic group than I care about other ethnic groups. I'm ethnocentric - I believe that the overwhelming majority of all other human beings in this world are as well.
I don't think that this particular inclination makes me racist though. But I'm sure you do. Someone can be a part of my family without being my blood relative. In the same way, someone can be/come a member of my ethnic group even though they were born into another one.

To increase jobs one needs investment and planning capabilities which Sweden has already.
Hence Sweden just needs to increase jobs.
in all this countries they are overrepresentated in crime, getting social walfare and low education. thats a fact also for sweden.
integration problems are normals only problems of the 1st generation when it comes to chinese, vietnamese, russians.....but in the muslim parallel world the 2nd and 3th generation cause more and more problems.

Just take the "allmän pension". It was created (1913) in a time when people died at the age of 60. How many got to enjoy their retirement (age 64)? Today the life expectancy is 80 years, and increasing. This will never hold. Here is a good article:

The overwhelming majority of all other human beings in this world are religious fools who believe in fictional creatures. Argumentum ad populum...
Freelife: The socialistic state makes that hard. The problems are spelt payroll tax, LAS and minimum wage. What Sweden needs is a laissez-faire economic planning and less government.
But Sweden has managed to be successful with their present model. Changing entire economic model is a far fetched idea, generally which never becomes reality.
Socialism doesn't prevent from job creation. Yes it is hard. But Sweden has both experience and intelligence deal issues with this setup.
Regarding immigration, in my opinion Sweden must encourage high skilled immigrants like US, hence increasing its quality and quantity of human resource.
However, Sweden is a really developed country. It has highly educated population, good infrastructure, great education and medical systems which are the fruits of their well run social model. Sweden must find a good way within this setup. I think, it is quite possible.
The immigrants (of ALL religions) from eastern europe & africa etc, have more children, in 50yrs the minority population will be ethnic Scandinaviens.
But keep letting the immigrants & refugees in, it helps keep unemployment high, so we that do work have to pay higher taxes.
Yes most of the Muslim immigrants are highly educated to degree or equivalent professional level and no the majority of them are not willing to take on menial jobs they are forced to do so.

On the strength of two weeks hoiday in Sweden almost 30 years ago, I would find it immensely attractive to have been able to have lived in Sweden. You seem to have no idea how quickly you will los what remains of your Swedish culture. It is false to think that all people and all cultures are inherently alike.
Are liberalism ( to which Sweden has dedicated itself ) or any manifestation of socialism, essentially a frm of communism.
We have a problem with liberalism/socialism in my native Britain. Which I hope we will throw off with our current General Election.
I suspect egalitarianism is something drummed into (brainwashed) Swedish children since infancy.

Oh, please. According to Brå (search for "Brottslighet bland personer födda i Sverige och i utlandet"): "Andelen som någon gång under perioden varit registrerad för brott var högst bland dem som var födda i Nordafrika och Västasien inklusive Iran och Turkiet." So the financial problem in Germany comes from Turks and Arabs? Let me guess, the same thing goes for Greece? Therefore Greece and Germany should import Iranians so that the financial crisis goes away? This will save the Euro. However the figure of 1/5th immigrant population is something deeply disturbing. In my Britain, the immigrant populationt is at 1/11th. And that is deeply disturbing. I had the impression that Swedes were intensely patriotic..
I think it is a great mistake to think that within a generation or two the immigrants will have been completely absorbed into your culture and way of life.
Sure many immigrants will be making a contribution to Swedish life, but in the long term it is going to be at the cost of Swedish culture.
