Ex-royal bodyguard sentenced for rape

A policeman with the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) who once served as a bodyguard to King Carl Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria has been sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated rape and obstruction of justice. The man will also pay damages of 208,000 kronor ($28,470) to the woman.

The penalty for the crime is eight years, according to the district court, but after the bodyguard was dismissed from his post following the conviction, the sentence was reduced to six years in prison, Expressen reported.

The rape took place last fall at a cottage outside Uppsala occupied by the 49-year-old policeman. According to the prosecution, the assault was particularly brutal. During the proceedings, chief prosecutor Monica Mimer described an extremely brutal rape involving anal sex, beatings, detention and handcuffing. The victim was humiliated and made to fear for her life, Mimer said.

During the attack, the man had a pistol lying next to him, reinforcing the threat to the woman, according to the prosecutor.

The policeman was also charged with obstruction of justice after making threats against the woman's son. The policeman threatened to hurt him so badly that he would be disabled for life.

At the time of the alleged attack, the woman was in the process of trying to break off a relationship with the former royal bodyguard, according to Swedish media reports.

According to Expressen, the district court wrote: "The crime is serious because [the Säpo man] showed particular ruthlessness and brutality and the abuse lasted over a long period of time." The court added the woman "suffered a major violation and that she was deprived of her freedom."

The policeman has consistently denied all the charges against him.

6 years is too light sentence for any person who is suppose to uphold the law whether it be politician or police. Rape or any other crime so to say. The court wrote that the crime is serious but not serious enough for a heavier sentence? Threatening to disable the woman's son....1 crime, rape ....1 crime, ruthlessness, abuse and brutality......so all in I just want to really know how many crime did they court charge the SOB for?

Although the sentence is very low; I am surprised they handed him that much time in the can. The system usually tend to reward these prikkksz rapist and murderers with a lower term. Example: 18 months for murder and 6 months for rape.

What ends up being less than six years and $28,000 for this sort of brutality and humiliation isn't nearly enough. Perhaps while in prison he will be introduced to the humiliation of anal sex himself! Perhaps in this case he will discover that it is much better to receive than to give.

Well duh ! Sweden is the rape capital of the EU statistically speaking.

it's no suprise....loneliness and a solitary life causes swedes to do terrible things...

I am told its because Sweden is too cold...this doesn't justify the people being too cold towards friendship. 90% of swedish girls use artificial d...k.cause: solitude

I hope the court had enough evidence. I wonder If the decision is made all from what came from the woman and his son.

@wxman

Totally agree with you, hope he meet some a"#¤hole bandits in the can and have a great sex life

I am sure the Hells Angels or Banditos MC will be waiting for him and return the favor...

@Izbz

I agree with you that six years is too little. His crime were (1) physical assault on a mother, (2) threat to use dangerous weapon on her, (3) rape, and (4) threat to disable the woman's child.

My father always told me that: "if one can not do anything he/she will become a police officer."

Now I understand what he meant!!!

Globalnomad:

You say that Sweden is statistically the rape capital of Europe. It's very easy to just sit and compare numbers. People do it all the time. But statistics is far more than just numbers. Two rapes are not necessarily two rapes in another country. Not all countries in Europe, for example, consider rape within a marriage rape. Not all countries consider forced oral sex rape. Both these are considered rape in Sweden. In fact, rape in Sweden needn't even involve penetration: the national health service defines it as "a sexual deed" (http://www.vardguiden.se/Tema/Sex-och-samlevnad/Vald-och-overgrepp/Valdtakt/), where the victim somehow feels forced. But the threat doesn't have to be spoken or shown, it's enough that they feel it.

Look at the definition of rape in your own country and/or a few others and compare it.

The plain fact is that you quite simply CAN'T make a simplistic 1 for 1 comparison with these kind of statistics.

vjo;

I understand that there are many definitions for rape but we all know the kind of rape they are talking about here. Sweden is not so conservative as to call forced oral sex or forced petting, rape. it will be plainly said,'Woman forced to give blowjob'
