Sweden's Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt on Friday opened the more ceremonial state proceedings of the impending royal wedding on Friday, when he hosted a government reception at Stockholm City Hall.

The royal couple were able to enjoy Thursday evening in the company of their personal friends at a dinner and party at Drottningholm Palace, but on Friday Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling will instead be kept busy with a programme of more ceremonial state events.

While the bride, groom and Queen Silvia were rehearsing Saturday's service at Stockholm Cathedral, King Carl XVI Gustaf and the other members of the royal family hosted a lunch for the wedding guests at Sturehof Castle.

The couple then joined the King, the Queen, members of the government, representatives of municipalities and county councils in Stockholm City Hall for a reception which will be followed by a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister and Filippa Reinfeldt at the Eric Ericsson Hall on Skeppsholmen.

The black tie dinner will then be followed by a gala performance at Stockholm City Hall hosted by the speaker of the Sweden's parliament, the Riksdag, Per Westberg.

The concert is a gift to the royal couple from the Riksdag and will feature the cream of Sweden's classical and popular music elite, together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The gala performance, to be broadcast on national television, will be the final engagement the couple will attend before their marriage at 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

congrats to the bride and groom.

I wonder if they'll be any American Journalists.

We sort of love this sort of pagentry.

How about Streaming the Ceremony online for

people to watch?

If I was a journalist and had the funds, I'd apply

to write a story and take pictures.

I wonder what it would be like to be amongst the

wedding guests as well, whether a commoner or

titled. I wonder if anyone named Waldeck or from

the town/city waldeck will be in attendance, it'd

be great to find out if there are.

Love Germany too, my grandfather was from Germany

said castle waldeck amongst our lot.

Congrats again.

Blessings.

People seem to forget about the ever growing unemployment rate in this country. At this moment it's the highest it has ever been. And not all these people getting help are free loaders. Many of them have worked in Sweden for many many years as nurses, doctors, educators and now have no where to turn to get a job due to these "cut backs" and I have many friends who have been hit hard by this worry where their next meal will come. People who have always had a silver spoon in their mouths really do not understand what it is like for others to struggle. So it's easy for them to accuse others of being "free loaders" when they do not truly know what its like. I vote lets fix the "cut back " situation before wasting money showing off to the world.
