Three years for burning a windows of Sick Man and Many Swedes who murder or rape gets 2 to 4 years. Sweden is becoming like USA who jails black people for stealing little things for six years and when it comes to whites they get like a months. Arson is a very random crime. In my home town of Gothenburg 63 teenagers were killed and 50 terribly burned during an arson attack by four "youths". Arson tends to hurt far more people than the intended victim, especially when carried out by people with limited intelligence.

Two and three years seems remarkably light for such a serious crime, committed on behalf of God, as does 22 months for beating a 78 year old lady to death in a carpark and, as Open Minded has pointed, out the usual tariffs for rape and murder in Sweden.

The court missed an opportunity to send a message to trainee terrorists throughout Sweden that if you purport to execute "God's will" in this way, you are going away for a very long time, and certainly much longer than usual.

I hope the next bunch of would be assasins get longer.

The education system should insist on critical thinking rather than making easy followers of old ideas. As for the definition of innocent. You used innocent in your original post to describe these two brothers. They cannot be described as innocent in Sweden, based on their actions. They broke the law and they will be punished (well sort of, it is Sweden).

His art is protected under free speech laws. Muslims may not like his art and find it offensive, but they have to respect the law of the Sweden. As for the average muslim who is only offended by Vilks' art, all I can say is get used to it. All religions are fair game for ridicule in the West. I don't like cartoons about Jesus, but I figure God and Jesus will take care of it in the final analysis. Isn't Allah capable of doing the same? Why does he need two incompetants to punish Vilks?
