The ruling centre-right Alliance coalition leads ahead of the general election in September, according to an opinion poll from Skop.

The poll also shows that the Sweden Democrats would just clear the four percent limit to enter Sweden's parliament, the Riksdag.

The centre-right alliance leads by 3.9 percentage points at 48.6 percent compared with 44.7 percent for the red-green coalition, according to the poll, which was carried out from June 30th to July 15th. The results suggest that public opinion continues to veer towards the centre-right coalition compared with previous polls.

Support for the Social Democrats declined for the second poll in a row and now stands at 29.2 percent. The party has lost 4.5 percentage points in support since April. The ruling Moderates have the most support at 33.3 percent, even if support has slipped slightly.

However, Social Democrat party secretary Ibrahim Baylan is skeptical about the results.

"I think that one can take these kinds of summer polls with a grain of salt," he said. "However, I believe that there will be a smooth election and we will give it all we have to form a new government."

The nationalist Sweden Democrats are slightly ahead according to Skop's latest poll and would secure enough support to enter parliament if the election were held now. The Christian Democrats also straddle the minimum level of support to remain in parliament, matching the Sweden Democrats with 4 percent backing.

The Liberal Party has the backing of 6.6 percent in the poll, while the Centre Party advanced slightly to 4.7 percent. The Left Party has 5 percent of the votes, while the Green Party is supported by 10.5 percent. Changes were within the statistical margin of error.

“Too many voter opinion polls" . and so say all of them, just a fortnight ago.

Nice picture of the alliance with Papa Reinfeldt as the head of the happy, smiling family, united, strong and radiating the confidence in which we trust as trust we must and trust must have to do with people's economic futures : no money= no honey= no funny and as the dollar tells all us: In God we trust. And what a friend we have in Jesus.

We (Sweden ) boast about the strong (stark) kronor ( crown).

Mostly good news:

Tyler Brûlé (“Why I’m sweet on Sweden again”) could even upgrade his happy perceptions by reading through Wordsworthian Julie Lindahl's Julie's Nordic Island

52 days to go and within that time much could happen - an earth-quaking scandal or two on the other shoe ( hopefully not) ...by the 2nd of August most people are back from the idylls of what was once an " industrial holiday” away from Stockholm city civilisation - but once back from living more rustic lives, more in harmony with nature ( nature - “ natu-r” which is the true Swedish religion as all ( yes all not just Carl Jonas Love Almqvist's lass ) from the rites of spring, through summertime, all Swedes are pantheists – lantisar - på landet ( in the countryside ) and from the idylls of life in the Swedish archipelago back to work and reality and in that mood to cast their ballots on the day after Yom Kippur, on the 19th of September 2010 when the Mama Mona & Social Democrats have their late date with fate...52 days to go...

The survey might represent public openion, but does not neccessarily reflect election outcome. Some supporters might not vote come election day; if those who do not vote are large number, election result might be better or worst to the contending parties. In otherwords, it is difficult to be sure that the government on power will stay in power.

Fredrik Reinfeldt is destroying Sweden, bit by bit

The Alliance has brought the English Patient's disease to Sweden ie rampant greed, huge disparity of incomes and the unwelcome introduction class, runaway immigration which is disolving Swedish society by the day, out of control house price inflation, and rising street crime, and drug abuse.

Based on the UK we can predict that if the Alliance is reelected Swedes can look forward to a sharp increas in corruption, particularly among the political and board room classes, white flight to regional Swedish towns, a failed attempt at multiculturalism followed by an even more chaotic attempt at the reestablishment of "core values", and Islamic terrorism, bombs on the T-Bana and all.

It's as though Reinfeldt and friends looked at the failed UK and decided to replicate it Lock, Stock and two smoking Islamic bombs. They are a total disaster. Reinfeldt has demonstrated that like a true geek accountant he knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. He has neither the intelligence, experience or maturity to grasp the really big macro society issues, and as such is steadily destroying Sweden.

Thanx to read some people with common sense... I am getting scared when I talk to Swedes talking about the advantages of tax reduction and apoteket privatizations....

PlanetSweden.com,

I'm not sure that I got you right. It seems to me that that's a lotta baseless and unreasonable scare pro-paganda that you want to circulate, that one of the consequences of Fredrik Reinfeldt and the Alliance winning the September 19 elections would "two smoking Islamic bombs" and "Islamic terrorism, bombs on the T-Bana and all."

And if Mama Mona and the Social Democrats win, will it be a safe haven for terrorists who so love to see Mona in her hijab that they will therefore spare Sweden " smoking Islamic bombs and terrorism on the T-bana and all".

Is that what you are saying?

One consideration which does not go away and is in the increase is this:

@Cornelius Hamelberg

No I can see you didn't get my point, but that's probably understandable if you don't live in the UK.

My point is that what Reinfeldt is doing now is exactly the path Britain embarked on in the 1990s. It sees itself as a form of free market liberalism with a conscience, but its really simply a free market with mass immigration, which drives down wages for the poor, while sending the rich on a free ride of soaring property prices, lower taxes, and ever bigger bonuses/salaries.

What the Brits forgot and what Reinfeldt is forgetting is that there's a price to pay for this mass immigration. Non EU immigrants bring their culture, their religion and their old loyalties with them. Pretty soon it becomes a case of "do as we say, or face the consequences". This is what led to 7/7.

You assume I'm a supporter of the Social Democrats, but you assume wrong. I'm a disappointed supporter of the Moderates. But what I will say for the SD is that under Goeran Persson migration was within reasonable limits. It is Reinfeldt and his reckless pursuit of clapped out dry free market dogma about the free "movement of labour" who has opened the flood gates with disastrous future consequences for Sweden. As I say Reinfeldt is a lightweight accountant who understands the price of everything and the value of nothing.
