Malmö makes hunting illegals harder for cops

The municipality of Malmö will no longer print the personal identification numbers of marrying couples on the lists of upcoming civil weddings in a move which will make it harder for border police to hunt for illegal immigrants at weddings.

Police have previously been able to scrutinise lists from the city of Malmö's marriage registrar with names, personal identification numbers and times for weddings.

Through the lists, the police would be to see if either of the spouses should be arrested and dismissed. The municipality has now decided to no longer include social security numbers in the lists.

"We have had a discussion and came to the conclusion that we want to protect the personal sphere," Tomas Bärring, secretariat director at the city office, told the newspaper.

The police can still have access to the personal identification numbers of those intending to marry by requesting a proof of impediment.

Strange. The tax office gives approval before anyone can marry in Sweden. Or am I missing something here? How can someone without personal number get approval to marry?
10:23 August 17, 2010 by asteriks
@krow, you should study Faculty of Law, then everything will be clear. Right to marriage is international, it is forbidden to stop marriage, and local rules about personal number is local, it means international rules are stronger than local. Even people without papers (Palestinians, etc), if they can't get papers from home country, they can get permission from the court to marriage without papers. In any case, actions of police were clear racist motivated, and municipality decided correct.

whos runing Sweden anyway The central government and Parliament or the leftwing racist Malmö Mayor, This is a discrace there is no rule of law in Malmö at all. no wonder that cops and people on the street are getting shot at all the time.
11:27 August 17, 2010 by Annaya
This is a new one on me. What is a personal identification number? Is it the same as a U. S. Social Security number or something different?

Why would the mayor of Malmo be allowed to disregard the policy of the central government on this issue?
12:34 August 17, 2010 by calebian22
Annaya,

For all intents and purposes, yes, a personal number is a social security card. It is more like a national id, whereas an s.s is not.

Disregard is common in all politicians, USA too. Look at Twosome Newsome the mayor of San Fransisco.

"...we've come to the conclusion.." says this Bärring. Who is this Bärring anyway, and whose interests is he representing?
16:52 August 17, 2010 by Puffin
Surely publishing personal numbers just encourages identity theft anyway

@asteriks: If you studied a Faculty of Law, then you should explain what is an international right :-) There is only the Universal declaration of human rights (declared by UN), which gives this right. It is however not legally binding and violated in countries like China, North Korea... Article 16 "Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses" is widely violated in many countries to the east...

But to the point - in Sweden this right is of course granted. However if somebody is in the country illegally, hence he first violated the law, his position somehow changes, he is not granted freedom of movement there and so on. He can definitely always marry in his home country so it's completely up to the state authorities whether they allow him to marry in Sweden, whether request some documents and so on....

Terrific, just what immigration burdened Sweden needs.

Yet another idiotic policy which will make it even harder to crack down on illegals.
21:08 August 17, 2010 by Abbot
@asteriks

How is the policy racist? Are they looking ONLY for a specific ethnic group or ANY illegals? If you say only for a specific ethnic group, then please back that statement up with some evidence.

Immigration laws are just part of a zionist conspiracy I suppose -- at least according to the left in this country.
02:51 August 18, 2010 by JoeSwede
The Swedish police are much more forward in arresting illegals than the US is. In the US, once over the border.... one is pretty much free to live.
02:25 August 19, 2010 by MorbidMiss
Not exactly Joe Swede. Many immigrants are taken advantage of for just that reason. They are there illegally and can be deported, no matter how long they have been there, how many children, even if they are married to a legal resident. Because of this some people lacking in moral fiber do use scare tactics to force those people to do as they wish.

It is part of why you can find small hordes of them living in small apartments or several families all living in one house. They often end up doing poorly paid jobs out of sight. It would be better for them if they just applied to come in legally.

Nobody like illegals.

Find them.

Get rid of them.
