...and sometimes that reason is to serve as a warning to others.
A less understanding wife would have pulled out the "cigar cutter" or the "nutcracker" while he was sleeping.
There is that public face that she and every other Swede wishes to project. "The perfect wife," my butt.
I suspect that most of us have no idea what kind of a wife Elin was but despite extreme journalistic examination there has been no suggestion that she was a bad wife/mother or betrayed her marriage vows. We do know of an ever increasing tally of betrayals by Tiger Woods. It is true that that it takes two to make a marriage but it is also true that people do what works for them and what they can get away with. Sports stars on the whole are not great marriage investments according to research that I have seen. They are focused on self and their sport. Wife abuse is more frequent, than is in the general public. I believe that there is a culture within some sports of using women and in all fairness one must admit, some women are only too happy to make themselves available to sport stars.
Most people enter marriage with high hopes of......happy ever after, so it is sad when the dream is lost. It is also sad for the young children in the middle of all this.
I don't think that Elin's pre marriage career has anything to do with anything. She may have been an au pair but presumably she would have pursued some career following on from that. Instead she entered Tiger Wood's life as a partner, lived with him for eight years and had two children. I think she is entitled to a proportion of his wealth and no doubt some of her settlement is for the future care of their children. Tiger Woods is not left penniless and he does have a career in place for him to pick up. I for one wish her well, I also hope that Tiger Woods gets his life in gear, decides what he wants in life and resumes a fabulous career.
@Mb 65 - she didn't get $750 mill. Tiger doesn't even have hat much money. Be logical.
It is not Elin's fault that her husband would not respect his marriage vows.
This is Old thinking...used to excuse a man's betrayal of his family.
Maybe Elin isn't the Best person in the world..but as far as her marriage goes she clearly was in it 100%...what could she do if Tiger was only in 50%...
She deserves Everything she has gotten in the divorce...which mostly represents child support and is usually based on a formula (in the US usually a % of the bread earners income, husband or wife, based on number of kids). and if the golfer coughed up a bit more...well he made most of his money on endorsements and Elin and the kids were part of the package he was paid for...so She earned it!
Good luck to you Elin I'm sure things can only get better from here : )
Good for you Elin! I wish you and your kids all the best!
Don't take this comment to mean anythign against her being entitled to a good settlement as I think she should get as much as she can. He was completely in the wrong.
