Red-Greens in migration policy agreement

The Red-Green coalition have presented a new agreement on immigration police, arguing that the Swedish Aliens Act is applied too strictly and calling for a review of the asylum process and rules for family reunification.

"Asylum procedure should have a basis on a just, fair and individual assessment, consistent with international conventions of the individual's reason for applying for residence," the parties wrote in a statement on Friday.

The parties write that they are in agreement that Sweden should have a regulated immigration policy with rules for those able to visit and reside in the country. The coalition is also in favour of labour migration, on the proviso that safeguards are put in place against exploitation.

"When people move knowledge in dispersed, networks grow, and new opportunities arise. Sweden is in itself a clear example that the knowledge, manpower and diversity that has come here has been of great importance for Swedish growth and development."

The Red-Greens observed that migration is a growing phenomenon worldwide and "Sweden is part of that development". They add that the situation faced by women is of particular concern as migration can open the door to a safer, more secure life.

"The right to seek shelter from persecution is a human right and should not be allowed to be affected by the economic cycle or labour market requirements," the parties argued, while they declared their support for a system of labour migration.

"The right to seek shelter from persecution is a human right and should not be allowed to be affected by the economic cycle or labour market requirements,"

Yes every one is entitled to be safe & free, but how does the influx of refugees & immigrants NOT affect the economic cycle?

The Swedish "alien" act is hardly applied at all, that's why there are so many in refugee centres.

As usual the left wing are spouting nonsense in a last minute bid to gain voters, I think Mona's been to too many dinners with the B'liar family

Red-Green coalition is more humane and credible and that is the mark of our generous and beautiful Sweden.

@flintis,

you probably need someone who understands English to help you out with this one .

Nowhere is it stated that the left wingers are talking about "influx".

In case you may not know ,"influx" refers to large numbers of people while the Red-Green are talking about " individual reasons for appl..."

The lines you quote simply mean that those individuals who qualify to be protected should not be denied that (human) right for ecomical reasons .

In simpler words , Sweden or any other country should NOT say to an asylum-seeker: >our economy is down right now ; sorry we cannot protect you . Or you might take OUR peoples jobs , sorry you must go back to where you come from , regardless of whether you will be persecuted or not <

Remember that these are some of the reasons that SD devils use against immigrants , ie , the economy ,jobs and other social / cultural scrappy excuses.

Does anyone really understand what these people are saying here? It seems like plenty of platitudes and much gibberish, with no substance. "Migration is a growing phenomenon..." Really? And how do you people plan to use such a profound statement to actually do something? Don't listen to them! They are the ones who created the sordid fiasco to begin with. This is all empty election pork reeking to the high heavens. It's laughable to watch the exreme Left dance around this topic. See you all on the 19th.

Sounds good .. but as long as I read , the Aliens Act may not ve as such a draw back ...the problem is on the implementation ....in fact it is really to comment with out reading the proposal ...

We, immigrants who are not asylum seekers, refugees or so are lost in speech and place in this country.

Nobody talks about us, our integration situation and what can they do with our knowledge and qualifications. Sweden and all its institutions have a hard time when they face a plain immigrant in handling any burocratic issue.

We are also dropped into the bag of those asking for money, resources for the country and so despite of some of us paying taxes in this country and contributing to its economic development by even investing here money that we have to earn abroad because of the lack of opportunities we encounter here...

I would like parties to start talking about US also, how they can integrate us and who are we as this is starting to turn into an identity crisis case...
20:54 September 3, 2010 by Jes
@gamelixir , don`t flatter yourself ; you are an Immigrant in Sweden no matter what you call yourself . When they talk about "invandrare" they are talking about YOU and what you call refugees . You may not know this , but a lot of refugees have knowelegde and qualifications too . Many refugees have skilled jobs and pay taxes like everybody else .

You may want to know that the current Minister of Integration come to Sweden as a refugee. If the Red-Green win this election , there will be 2 Ministers that come to Sweden as refugees .

So please , try not to sound so special because before a system that is in place in Sweden today , you are not .

You are an immigrant , and they are talking about YOU !

Here is the act in English no less .. Seems pretty straight forward the Red-Green party thinks there are too many people being denied under this policy.

Immigration office is dirty institution, they give right to stay only to immigrants who helped them to deport other immigrants, IO created whole network of illegal spying of immigrants who applied for political asylum. Don't forget, all immigrants must become rats in order to stay in Sweden, in other case, they are deported back to their country. IO don't care for problems of immigrants in their country, asylum application is just filtering of immigrants. Fighter against dictators are deported, rats got permission to stay in Sweden. Who is rat in Sweden, he was rat for dictator too. People change country, they don't change their character.

Actually, the Red/Greens have been decently clear about their intentions. They have declared in advance that they will increase immigration and decrease restrictions on who enters.

All that remains is for Swedish voters to decide if that's the direction they want for Sweden.
01:10 September 5, 2010 by here for the summer
@david and you forgot to say. Raise taxes on all Swedes to pay for all the support the increased immigration will cost.
16:10 September 5, 2010 by Jes
DavidrgNorseman ,

your comment is misleadingly silly !

Think about it : RED/ Greens have no way of " increasing immigration" .It is always going to be up to immigrants who decide if they want to come in or not . Not even SD has the means to "decrease" who enters .Mighty USA has injected billions to shut out immigrants ; we know that it has not stopped them going in .

The only remaining point to ponder is which party has a better system to sort out who stays ( not enter) and who is sent away .
12:30 September 6, 2010 by farnoxo
@Twiceshy - dude you have got to drop this fixation with rats, it is not healthy (and probably illegal!)'

@here for the summer - without increased immigration, who the hell is going to pay for your pension fund (given that the current Swedosh population is not growing fast enough to sustain a workforce to cover the future funding of pensions for an egeing population). Contrary to popular belief, many immigrants (myself included) contribute significantly to the Swedish state over the long run through taxation. The increased administration costs are only incremental.

Regardless of how one becomes a foreigner in Sweden (refugee or otherwise), immigration has a very important role to play in the Swedish economy of the future. The question should rather be focussed on how to manage integration issues today and how to manage the type of immigration that Sweden wants in the future.

@ jes: #you probably need someone who understands English to help you out with this one# Obviously that's not you then, read between the lines. "calling for a review of the asylum process and rules for family reunification# = INFLUX.

Member of the Left wing are we, you compose like a politician, twisting words & hiding behind duplicitous statements possibly had "Baron" Mandelson as your mentor. I have an uncanny ability to see what is clearly meant to confuse the layman

#RED/ Greens have no way of " increasing immigration"# Blind leading the blind, of course they can increase immigration, they will alter & reduce requirements allowing the "refugee" population & most other applicants guarantee'd residency.
